My hype to learn that Bowerbirds had released their first album in 9 years was matched only by my disappointment upon listening to it.
Finally listened to this one. And I hate to say that while last year's records were among the most powerful albums I'd heard in a long time, these kinda fade into the background a bit. Musically it is a little more ambitious, so I'll give them credit for that. But it's a little disappointing. They had high expectations to live up to...
I think this is Lucy's worst album to date. But if more people discover her I'm happy. It feels a little less unique than her first few records, but her voice is still such a powerhouse it doesn't matter. And obviously Triple Dog Dare is a SOTY contender.
I found the music on the Caretaker so rich and interesting. This one's a bit boring by comparison.
Faye picks up right where she left off with her breakthrough Atlanta Millionaire's Club. Beautiful, relaxing tunes with surprisingly deep lyrics
As a not-really Jazz fan, I found this record remarkably powerful and captivating
I really wanted to like this more. And while I think some of the ballads are decent and the lyrics are pretty well focused for a pop record, it's just a little bland. Got some of that Victoria Justice/Miranda Cosgrove failed childhood actor turned pop-star boring production, despite her pretty voice. But the ballads and lyrics make this decent enough that I'd eagerly await her next record
Well I'll be damned, I enjoyed this one
Finally got around to this, immensely disappointing after her last record was actually pretty fun
I feel like there's a bit too much going on here. starts strong but too many sounds IMO
That this is better than her last album shows how far she's fallen from her awesome innovative records a decade ago
