The whole thing is barely more than 20 minutes long, and yet it’s packing more ideas than many bands manage in an entire career. And it’s fucking brilliant.
With its chilling mix of rap, goth, punk, and noise, God Has Nothing to Do With This has a huge impact for such a concise project.
I'm already incredibly biased when it comes to Backxwash so just take this with a grain of salt but....OHHHHH HELL YES.
Backxwash takes the "Witchhop" label and darker themes of her last album to create her most haunting and devious sounding album yet. From the cries of "oh god no!" In the instrumental to shouting how she fucks with black magic, it sounds like the soundtrack to a trans 70s pulp horror film. Yup. I missed this one too.
This album, in one word, is brutal. The instrumentals are insanely dark and grimy, which can be expected from a horrorcore album. This album really has been sticking with me. I’ve been going back to it a lot. More than any other Backxwash album in fact
Ngl at first I thought this was more of a satanic album, but my opinion has swayed a small bit w this js having some very dark and heavy samples from Led zeppelin and Ozzy. This is a fun and gruesome album man I mean I fw black magic. This is one of her first albums that shows the more vulnerable side which she uses to carry out her career in music
