CRITIC REVIEWS

Loud and Quiet

HIS HAPPINESS… may not be the experimental overhaul many expected from an artist constantly breaking new ground to reach the underworld beneath, but it is a refinement of a style so uniquely and ferociously her own.

90
Distorted Sound

Many will have been convinced of her quality long before now, but HIS HAPPINESS SHALL COME FIRST EVEN THOUGH WE ARE SUFFERING proves yet again that we are talking about an artist of the very highest pedigree.

Beats Per Minute

With His Happiness Shall Come First Even Though We Are Suffering, Mutinta completes her heroic triptych.

80
The Needle Drop

His Happiness shares a lot in common with its two preceding albums, but bears some slight improvements in intensity and versatility.

Metal Hammer
Trap metal visionary puts the essential into existential.

Kerrang!
Backxwash aren't the easiest proposition. This is extreme music heavy in both sound and content. But this is also part of the strength of the album. It is unflinching in its subject matter and depth of its darkness, just as it is unafraid to be exactly what it is. And that's something quite unlike anything else you'll hear in 2022.

Pitchfork
On the final entry in a trilogy that began with her Polaris Prize-winning 2020 album, the Montreal rapper seeks elusive redemption in cacophonies of tense noise and gothic samples.

It’s the BaddieBaphomet Halloween Spooktacular!!

Yeah I know it’s not October anymore but I don’t care, I’m doing a Halloween episode because I love horror. That’s probably shocking to absolutely no one (it’s basically a requirement to be a member of The Alphabet Mafia and my name is literally a reference to a demon), but yeah, catch me on a Tuesday night and you’ll likely find me consuming some piece of horror media. There’s so much to love; ... read more

Definitely worth the wait for the fans of the last project. This album is definitely one of the best hip-hop projects of the year for me. The flow is amazing, and rarely am I not at the edge of my seat. I wasn’t in love with every hook on here, and some songs just sounded better than others, but the ideas are amazing. It’s a very satisfying listen, and I highly recommend to anyone.

I didn't expect the Regular Show reference to go as hard as it did.

When a trainwreck meets a car accident and a plane crash; the flaming fumes from which cause Armageddon itself to emerge upon the listener. It's tragic, forsaken and terrifying The production and vocals all build so well into this agonized record.

Insanely well produced, lives up to its genre of horrorcore, extremely direct views and storytelling per track, the use of industrial beats, the intensity, the dark whoozing background to the beats. It just leaves you satisfied with the entire album.
