Careful, meaningful and laid back as hell.

Tom Morello weird guitar sounds gotta be my favourite gender.
Repetitive to the point where the messages are hand delivered to you on ten quaking silver platters, but heavy and strangely funky to the core. De La Rocha is such a unique metal vocalist that it makes the slight repetitiveness more tolerable, coupled with Morello's weirdness as a guitarist which gives the band its certain offbeat twang. It's a great album, I just wish that the whole thing could've been as consistent and different ... read more
Too long? Yep. Unremarkable vocalist? Yep. Stunning and enjoyable? Absolutely.
Favourite Song: Analog Sentimentalism
Best: Beautiful World, Excuse, To See the Next Part of the Dream, Age of Fluctuation

Free-flowing and peacefully powerful in Gaye's writing and voice.
Favourite Song: What's Going On
Best: What's Happening Brother, Flyin' High, Save The Children, Mercy Mercy Me, Right On, Inner City Blues
Worst: God Is Love
Holy fuck who taught Steve Lacy how to make a cohesive project after all these years.
After bringing the mid to late 2010's popular neo-soul scene to its knees with hits like Dark Red and C U Girl, Steve Lacy has underperformed massively when it comes to delivering LP's and EP's. But that is until Gemini Rights, where Steve finally acts like an artist and not just a playful bedroom-stricken teen toying with demos and ideas. Every song feels complete and polished (even the few that aren't as ... read more
It's a fun EP but each listen felt more and more inconsequential, and ultimately it doesn't really compare to other K-pop projects that I've listened to. Simple and fun disco-esque K-pop.
Favourite Song: Secret
Best: Insomnia, Love Month
Worst: PUNG!
Bonkers from start to end. Even if it drags a little, it still brings a huge range of accessible experimentation to the table.

Norman Fucking Folklore!
Taylor Swift finally realised her fanbase has grown up and isn't as adept to having mood swings and personality changes as drastic as going from Reputation to Lover, and so with Folklore she finally sounds like an actual artist writing what she wants. I like the older Taylor Swift songs, but I have to admit that there's an insincerity beneath them due to the whole label situation that makes them feel a little fraudulent and ingenuine. But with Folklore, it feels like ... read more
Mary Berry better watch the fuck out.
This is my second favourite IDLES album, because it not only starts the band's legacy off with absolute bangers and pungently brutal lyrics, but it also has a more distinctively unpolished nature than their later albums.
Favourite Song: Mother
Best: Heel / Heal, Well Done, Date Night, Faith in the City, 1049 Gotho, Divide & Conquer, Rachel Khoo, Stendhal Syndrome, Exeter, Benzocaine, White Privilege
Worst: Slow Savage
I prefer this over Cavalcade, but I'm just not that into post Schlagenheim black midi. The songs on both this and their prior album's track list are good and work great together with the other songs, but I can hardly remember anything when the album shuts off. Still though, it's a wild and fantastical experience, and like I said it's stronger than their last album.
Favourite Song: Eat Men Eat
Best: Hellfire, Sugar/Tzu, Welcome To Hell
Worst: Still
Pleasantly sad and youthful.
Favourite Song: Never Meant
Best: The Summer Ends, Honestly?, You Know I Should Be Leaving Soon, But The Regrets Are Killing Me, I'll See You When We're Both Not So Emotional, The One With The Wurlitzer
Worst: Stay Home
Paramore's transition into synth and dance pop is effortlessly and impressively seamless, and they transitioned without sacrificing their accessibility or direct tone as a band. Hayley's pessimistic lyrics are still on the fore front, and the need for bangers has been swapped out for groovy and catchy bops. I think the catchiness of the band reaches a peak on here, with a general 40 or so minutes of great, pure pop. Their slight experiments on their self titled feel like they worked themselves ... read more
I'm not huge on jazz but this is pretty nice.
Favourite Song: N/A
Best: Shhh / Peaceful, In a Silent Way
Worst: N/A
Paramore's self titled carries on their sweet and easy going pop punk identity of the past whilst also using some new sounds which would shape their future, most obviously seen at points like the end of Grow Up with the 80's synths that would soon dictate After Laughter. I did find that this album was cumbersome to get through however, with an hour long run time that feels totally unnecessary. That extra 20 minutes on top of their usual 40-ish time span is mainly spent with forgettable tracks ... read more
Bon Iver? I hardly know her!
Sentimental and darkly intriguing experimental folk.

I really enjoy the alt-rock spirit that Blue Weekend brings, intertwined with lots of dreamy and old fashioned aesthetics to make an album of great range and enjoyability, bringing out all sorts of songs including bangers like Play the Greatest Hits to near enough lullabies like Safe From Heartbreak. There's a lot to enjoy but I feel like the album ended things on a mediocre note. The two songs past The Last Man on Earth personally failed to give me closure to what is an ethereal album. Still ... read more
Pretty Hate Machine isn't as explosive or cohesive as Trent's later work, but it works well as the gritty and angry foundation that Nine Inch Nails would expand upon.
Favourite Song: Terrible Lie
Best: Head Like A Hole, Sanctified, Something I Can Never Have, Kinda I Want To, Sin, That's What I Get, The Only Time
Worst: Down In It
Nice. Nothing world changing, just nice.
Favourite Song: Don't Panic
Best: Shiver, Spies, Sparks, Yellow, Trouble, High Speed, We Never Change, Everything's Not Lost
Worst: Parachutes
I both loved and dreaded every moment of this album. I'm stuck in a limbo of absolute mixed feelings but I probably would say I disliked this more than liked it. I feel like the kookiness and unorthodox nature to The Dreaming overtakes Kate's ability to actually make a good song. I far prefer her poppier side than her whateverthefuckthisis side. Hounds of Love abolishes this album, donkey noises and all.
