[Revisiting Kanye Albums I didn't actively listen to]
A collection of electronic Hip Hop Anthems. Which makes it both a blessing and a curse. Its incredibly catchy, and Kanye was pretty ahead of his time in terms of production, but I wouldn't say it aged that well and because of the anthemic nature of the project, it is one of the least personal Kanye records. Yes, some tracks are still personal but the majority is much more... I guess victorious rather than personal. I actually don't ... read more

Late Registration is probably one of Kanye's least explosive records. Its much more low key. Kind of like a low key version of College Dropout, because they are stylistically similar. It's also a lot more emotional than most of his early work. It is less complex, less influential, less energetic and less experimental than most of his stuff. But I personally think he kind of perfected his sound on this album. Not just is it filled with some ... read more

The College Dropout has its place in Hip Hop history for a reason. Its extremely forward thinking, clever, the beat are magical and it is probably the best debut record ever in Rap. The album is smooth, and even the lowest points on the album aren't bad, they just aren't as entertaining and interesting in comparison to the rest. Even the worst songs on here would be the best song on other artists albums. I personally am not one of those ... read more
Vince's return is an interesting path to go into. A lot more personal, mellow, but also a lot easier on the ears and less electrifying than his previous works. It is incredibly cohesive both sonically and lyrically, but it does leave a lot of space to improve, as Vince seems a lot less hungry or explorative on this record, and it really is short. I would say that I enjoyed both Big Fish Theory and FM more, I like the concepts of these a lot more, but this is a nice stepping stone in Vince's ... read more
Yes, I came from Fantano. No, I do not think this is a ten. IT IS GREAT THOUGH. It is really well crafted and incredibly impressive. Sadly, I haven't really gotten that much into it or Art Pop in general, as the theatrics on this album don't resonate with me as much. But it is an incredible albums so I can't give a low score. It might go up in the future.
Songs better in Face to Face:
My Boy
Stop Smoking (We Love You)
Sober To Death
Nervous Young Inhumans
Bodys
Songs better in Mirror to Mirror:
Beach Life-In-Death
High To Death
Twin Fantasy (Those Boys)
Equal enjoyment:
Cute Thing
I think, especially Songs like My Boy, Bodys or Nervous Young Inhumans reach incredible sonic climaxes that these original versions couldn't achieve, but I think the more lyrically focused or atmospheric tracks, such as Beach Life-in-Death or High to Death feel a ... read more
fuuuuuckk its so hard to say bit it might be my favorite Car Seat Headrest project. I have only listened to both Twin Fantasy's and Teens of Denial, and now How to Leave Town, and pretty much every one of them has an aspect to it that could make it my favorite album of CSH. Twin Fantasy (I personally prefer the re-recording) has a great mix of consistently great songwriting and fantastic lyrics as well as featuring a cohesive narrative and a lot of reincorporation, but it doesn't necessarily ... read more
My jaw literally dropped at the outro of Horsehead. And it doesn't let up from that point on. I really like how this album uses a lot more lyrical focus than most shoegaze albums, since most albums in the genre use vocals more as an instrument, rather than a storytelling tool. I like pretty much every song on here and the atmosphere created by the textured walls of sound is captivating. Would have definitely been on my toplist for 2019.
WOW.
I usually hate Grindcore, Metal and pretty much anything that is unnecessarily loud and aggressive.
But for the first time in my life, it actually felt necessary with this album. Can't really give too many reasons why I love it, as I am not really that familiar with the genre, but this thing just fills me with rage and makes me want to throw an entire building off of a cliff. In the best way possible.
Rating a few Shoegaze albums I listened to a lot these past weeks without rating them;
I personally am not as big of a fan of this album as some other Shoegaze listeners, I think, for me personally, there aren't enough detailed sonic textures, the songwriting lacks on a few songs, and I would definitely say this is more of a Dream Pop record, and I myself am a much bigger fan of Shoegaze than Dream Pop.
However, songs like Alison, 40 Days, When the Sun Hits or Machine Gun are undeniably ... read more

Probably one of my favorite Shoegaze records! Not just incredibly fun, but also very textured and some incredibly great songwriting. Its just pure bliss. Leave Them All Behind is a masterpiece, and almost every song afterwards is incredibly catchy, incredibly impressive and emotional. It's literally one of the most consistent albums that I have ever heard. One of the few albums where pretty much every song ... read more

Starting Over is the obvious stand out on the EP, literally one of the best songs of the 2000s, but the others are really good too. I don't think this is an amazing project, and its also an EP so its pretty short, but it is incredibly beautiful at parts.
Gotta come back to it one day, but I didn't really see the appeal of it OUTSIDE of it being incredibly influential to shoegaze. I didn't finish it, but from what I heard, it felt like, yes, it had the layers of sound and distortion that influenced shoegaze, but neither the songwriting, singing, lyricism nor the aesthetic of it appealed to me. It all just seemed like a bunch of loud distortion layered over very boring and effortless pop songs. But it might click for me one day.

Tyler returns with a project that, instead of being a character influences by his personality, focuses on a character THAT IS himself influenced by fictional characteristics. To get it out of the way, yes, IGOR is a lot better in my opinion. IGOR is a lot more consistent, both sonically and thematically, and it reaches a very interesting and creative level of concept and execution. Its a record that feels concise, focused and like a cohesive piece of art. With CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST, Tyler ... read more
I'm just gonna leave the 100/100 here because Twin Peaks is my favorite thing that was ever created in an episodic structure and listening to the soundtrack on its own is just as effecting as it is while watching the show, which I did not expect.
I think it’s overhated. While yes, there isn’t that much to write home about, Daughters‘ debut already showcased an early example of their ability to make music that sounds like a panic attack. And there is also a lot of interesting work put into a few parts of this album, like the outros of both I Slept With the Daughters and All I Got Was This Lousy Song Written About Me and And Then the C.H.U.D.S Came. I can’t really comment on the lyrics, as it is almost impossible ... read more
Can't really tell you what exactly I think about it just yet, but I think I like this more than The Glow Pt.2.
It's not as all-over-the-place, as inconsistent sonically and a lot more lyrically focused than The Glow Pt.2. It follows a straight forward narrative and stays mostly in its avant-folk sonic limits. I love both albums obviously, but thematically, Mount Eerie resonated with me a lot more too. This is a pretty fantastic record with a very special premise and concept.
Won't rate yet, couldn't really get into it, listened to the entire thing and thought that there were some very interesting and great elements to it but definitely one that I'd have to think about more in the future.
"Final Thoughts":
Now after a while, I still didn't get into this record. Maybe one day. It's just not my cup of tea. It has great moments and is admirable, but nothing that I personally loved listening to.
fuuuuuckkkkkk....
This might just be my favorite Jazz record I have ever heard. And be sure that I have not listened to a bunch of jazz yet, just some classics (Miles Davis, Mingus, Wes Montgomery) and some newer stuff like Kamasi Washington, but holy crap. holy crap. holy crap, holy crap, holy crap. I bought this on Vinyl the first time I heard it. I wasn't even halfway through and I ordered the vinyl a couple of weeks ago.
This is genuinely one of the most expressive pieces of music I have ... read more
Genuinely haven't really listened to enough dubstep, hyperdub, future garage or whatever genre you wanna call this, but damn, this thing is a vibe. And I mean that in the best way possible. Burial created such a distinct feeling and tone on this album that I genuinely never heard. It's like the musical equivalent of waiting for the bus to come on a rainy Tuesday lol. It's definitely not my type of music normally but this thing can't be ignored, even if you don't like the genre that it gets put ... read more
