I've got a bit bored of AOTY, but mainly the reason I quit was how time consuming this was. I didn't wanna write 2 sentences and not give a reason why I liked the album or not.

Daisuke Tobari - Guitar is a hidden gem. To me, it's insane how there's ... read more
Wow. This is very, very bad. I guess I don't like Modest Mouse at all. I guess they are kind of skilled at playing instruments, but it doesn't make the album good for me. It's mind numbingly boring. Would rather listen Michael Gira strum his guitar for 4 hours straight.
jpegmafia is like the frank zappa of experimental hip hop, he's funny, experimental and weird, very tented, and most importantly, he has an iconic mustache. the record is very fun and creative, but only if you listen to it very closely. Jpeg made a record that is ((almost)) as creative astrout mask replica, yet being more accessible, the weirdest record of this year for me, an album better than veteran, and an AOTY of 2019. Danny Brown basically has no chance to beat this.
Another album that was suggested to me by my dad.
And ok. Straight off the bat, if you like CALIGULA from LINGUA IGNOTA, you gotta check this out instantly. It is similar, it most likely was the inspiration behind CALIGULA, but, it predates the record by 32 years, + the album doesn't sound any worse. In fact, it sounds better.
This record goes for songs that start off very, very, and I mean, very boring. It gets more interesting as it goes on, but one thing that caught me off guard, is that ... read more
I've heard all of these by their own, but I never realized I didn't listen to it in it's entirety. So, going in this, I just wanted to experience the feel that you get from the record. And well :
Yeah. It is a masterpiece. I've given three records a 90+ in a row. Next two won't be a nine, i promise. Or a Nina for that matter
This record is just so happy! It is probably the happiest I've ever been while listening to a record. Maybe I had a really good day, or maybe it's intended to be this way, ... read more
This record is amazing. It offers everything I need - great melodies, amazing songwriting, an interesting concept, and most importantly, I don't have to look for lyrics on this one, as everything he says is very clear.
If you wanna make a slow record that is pleasant and fun to listen to, dig inspiration from this. It was one of my dad's favorites troughout his childhood, as well as adulthood and I understand why very clearly.
There's so many hidden gems on this. How. How is this an 84 user score?
Half the songs on this are 10's. The album is flashy, bright, and dreamy. However, it is more noise pop than it is shoegaze.
Basically, this is Xiu Xiu but without the (sometimes) annoying vocals, but with better ideas, and less experimentation.
goddamn im impressed. This is like "olson" off of boards of canada, except theres no electric guitar.
Overall, I'd either add variation to the song, make it shorter, or turn it into an aphex twin-like banger. It is still good at it's own.
Congrats, @okcomputer12127, you're qualified to make the soundtrack for silent hill 9, 10, 11, and 12127.
You know what? It is not bad. I expected much worse. It reminds me of a King Crimson, for some reason. Except it sounds like the frontman decided he was singing very fast paced reggae, and whipped out the most whiny voice he could've possibly sung. Also, I searched for this album almost half an hour.
The only 2 tracks that don't sound like the rest are tracks 17 and 18.
Whose idea was to make a two hour long album that is filled with the same songs? Like, I get 30 minutes, but two hours? I got bored to death
Avant-folk is the 3rd most underrated genre, only falling behind Free Jazz and Avant-garde Jazz. What makes these so appealing to me is that they have some sort of charm, that you achieve with a high enough level of experience in the genre. And Nico does it stunningly.
Not only is this an amazing record in general, it left me in sheer shock after realizing that Nico has made this almost half a century ago. Yes, it doesn't sound like it has been made in this year, but it doesn't sound dated ... read more
How does a band have this as their most normal album? It's dark, edgy, and very, very experimental to say the least.
Honestly, I can't say anything new in this review. This is one of my last Xiu Xiu reviews, mainly because It's so hard to describe something like this.
It is, in my opinion, the best Xiu Xiu record.
I can't describe this thing. You gotta experience it yourself. Xiu Xiu is a very hard band to review. To pronounce as well. I didn't know up until mid july that they are pronounced as "Shu Shu"
This is a really, really good record. Nina Simone did some songs better, but some are better in here, which I didn't expect, considering that Nina Simone is one of my fav artists of all time. You'd Be So Nice is a hidden masterpiece and the highlight of the record for me. The vocals start at the exact right moment when I want them to start, and they complement the song very well.
P.S. fuck pitchfork! how's this a 47????????
In Russia, there's a gigantic community of so called "phonkers". They are annoying and shit, but the most dumb thing about them is that they don't even know origins of their favorite genre, phonk. It's this. This album is the origin. And it's the best in the genre. The sound used in CUP FULLA BEETLEJUICE (the one that repeats every 5 seconds or so) is used in practically every modern phonk song, as well catchy repetitive sounds, loads of samples, and thug beats. However, this album ... read more
I'm gonna be honest, I didn't find anything special about this. Do You Doubt Me Traitor is definitely a highlight of the record, but you gotta admit, there's tons of records out there that sound exactly the same, but except they probably have male vocals on.
If Channel Orange is a spacey, grand adventure full of bright colors, lots of meaning but a fun experience as well, Blonde hits you with a minimalistic, but innovative take on pop music. It is very abstract and refreshing, rewarding the listener with musical ideas that are a pleasure to listen.
If Channel Orange is a Marvin Gaye type album, this one's very different, and makes Frank sound like a unique artist.
I can see the appeal of this, but the record provides me with the same experience that I'd get from a pop rock radio station, sometimes good, sometimes a classic, but tasteless every time, like a gum you've chewed up for too long.
