I had never heard a full Lil Durk project before this, but this is exactly what I expected it would be. It’s just a generic melodic trap album. Not terrible, just nothing really special or interesting either.

Petals For Armor is an album that while I think is really good and has some great highlights, it drags on a little long and has too many just ok songs for it to really hit like it could. With that being said, this is a very solid release with some great production and songwriting throughout.

The Brown Boy is back and I guess I don’t hate it. It’s by no means all that good or anything, but its the most interesting NAV has been in a while. The production is of course the highlight, and the features make this a much easier listen. NAV is ok throughout the album I guess, but I still just end up wishing I was listening to a different rapper at the end of the day.

This is exactly what I expected it would be. It’s pretty enjoyable, but it’s incredibly generic and sounds like everything else in this R&B lane. The production is probably the highlight for me, but Kehlani does a good job throughout the album too. Overall, it’s pretty generic, but still an enjoyable listen if you enjoy this sound (which I do).

I guess this is an unpopular opinion, but I actually like this album. The production is really good, and this is the least annoying NAV has ever been on a project. It’s still not a masterpiece or anything, but it’s a solid project.

Did You See NAV? He made a mediocre album.
Did You See NAV? He somehow sucked over Metro Boomin production.
Did You See NAV? He made me want to die.
Did You See NAV? What is wrong with this guy?
The album cover is cool though.

It’s ok. The production is ok. The songs are ok. If this is you’re thing, you’ll prob find something out of it.

Innocent Country 2 is my introduction to Quelle Chris, and I’m impressed. The production is nice, and Quelle Chris does a good job over it. But while this is a quality project with many highlights, the album is a little too long and there are moments that feel like they drag on.

After GREY Area, which was one of my favorite albums of last year, I was very excited to see what she would do next. When I saw this was coming out, I wasn’t expecting anything crazy, but I was expecting a quality EP. And that’s what we got. It’s not on the level of GREY Area (with the exception of the first track, which is one of my favorite songs of the year), but it’s still a solid collection of tracks from Little Simz that has me excited for her next album.

I was not excited for this, as Chris Brown’s music as of late has been terrible, but I was willing to give it a chance because I love Thugger. And while it’s not the greatest thing I’ve ever heard, I’m pretty happy with it. Chris Brown still is the weakest part of the project for me, as Young Thug is the standout and the production is really good, but he isn’t all that bad either. This isn’t redefining the genre or anything, but it’s a solid collection ... read more
I’ve never been a Youngboy fan, but I usually enjoy at least a song or two off of each of his projects, even if he is not really a good rapper and his projects are usually boring and generic. But somehow even with the insane amount of music he has dropped recently, this manages to not be terrible. It’s decent, and features some good production, even if it’s wasted on Youngboy. The project is not really that interesting, but for what it is it’s not bad.

Three. Two. One. is a project that may not be anything all that unique or special, but displays a level of potential for Lennon Stella. I definitely hear a Billie Eilish influence, and I think her vocals are very strong on this album. My main problem with the project is that she needs better songwriters and producers, because most of these songs, while pretty enjoyable, are a little generic and bland. But other than that, this is a solid debut that has me excited for what she does next.

Drake has the ability to make some really good songs, but lately he just hasn’t been doing it. The loosies he had been dropping in the last few months and the awful TikTok anthem that is Toosie Slide worried me, but I was excited for the track with Carti, even if I was expecting a half-assed project of demos along with it. And that’s what we got for the most part, even if it’s pretty enjoyable.
I like hearing Drake rap more, but unfortunately this project just feels a little ... read more
Edit: Yeah...revisiting this made me realize how forgettable this is. Went from 70 to 65 now
I love Kali Uchis, but after seeing the reaction to this I wasn’t expecting much. But I actually really like this. I was expecting an EP of unfinished demos that would be forgettable, but I don’t feel like it is. It’s not the most interesting thing I’ve ever heard, and she can definitely do better, but for what it is it’s pretty good.

Sawayama is a pop album that gives you hope for the future of pop and what it could be. Rina Sawayama comes through with a forward-thinking and boundary pushing record that masterfully blends different genres and builds on classic pop sounds. Hoping this gets the recognition it deserves.

I’ve wanted to get into Fiona Apple’s music for a long time now, and figured this album would be a good place to start. And I wanted to love this album so much. This is getting the best reviews I’ve seen in a while, and even though I do think this album is great, I haven’t been able to totally understand the insane praise it’s getting.

I’ve always really enjoyed dvsn. I loved both of their first two albums, and the production is what really has drawn me in. Going into this project, I was a little concerned. Seeing the amount of features, and the just ok singles which made it on here made me a little worried. And while I’m a little disappointed, it’s still a good listen.

This is one of the best hip hop albums so far this year. The production is phenomenal, the features are incredible, and Westside Gunn manages to stand out amongst the great guests and production. This album is pure hip hop, and it’s great.

While I appreciate him trying to go more melodic, he isn’t really able to pull it off. The production is decent, but for the most part it’s exactly what you expect and pretty average. This project is not bad, and DaBaby brings a decent presence, but his shtick is getting a little tiresome at this point.
