This album improves on Sept. 5th and maintains the incredible production that made the album so good.

I get why people wouldn’t like this, as it’s not groundbreaking and the lyrics can be incredibly cringey, but I love this album. The production is phenomenal, and I just think it is a great R&B project with well written and well produced songs.

I had never heard of Yves Tumor before this album. I decided to check this out because of the insane praise the album is getting, and holy fuck I’m glad I did. Gospel For A New Century is one of my fav songs of the year so far. The production is great and the blend of genres across this album makes it an incredibly enjoyable listen.

Somehow I had never heard of Bladee. Now that I have, I’m more confused than ever. Past the production (which isn’t even that interesting), I truly don’t see the appeal. It sounds like a shitty SoundCloud mixtape. It doesn’t even sound professional. I guess the vibe and aesthetic of the sound of the production is ok, but that’s about it.
Fav Tracks: DNA Rain, Lovestory
Least Fav Tracks: Rai3ow Star (Love Is All), Every Moment Special
I hadn’t heard of 2KBABY before this, but I heard his song Faxts the other day and thought it was pretty good, so I checked this out. And while this project isn’t all that unique, I think it’s pretty decent, even if it’s generic. The production is pretty interesting, and 2KBABY can craft some catchy hooks and melodies on here. I’m not blown away by this or anything, but I’m interested to see what he does next.

I was very excited to listen to this, as I had been looking to get into The Strokes for a while. I figured the new album would be a good place to star. I'm so glad I listened, but mad I didn't listen to them sooner.
This is great. Rock is not a genre I'm particularly knowledgeable about (although I'm trying to change that), so I can't really describe why I like it so much, but even I can recognize how good this is. It just sounds great. Definitely going to check out the rest of their ... read more
If you’ve heard a Tory Lanez album before, then you know what you’re getting here. It’s just so generic and uninteresting. Also, we’re still rapping homophobic bars in 2020? Cmon Tory.

I’ve been trying to figure out how I feel about this record for almost a week now. I’ve listened numerous times and I think I can finally talk about it.
I truly wanted to love this album. I really did. And after the first few listens I was getting nothing. It was really underwhelming. As I listened more, it did grow on me, but I still feel disappointed. It’s good, and very impressive musically, but I just feel like the production should hit harder and be a little more ... read more
I love his voice, he just needs to focus and maybe get some more unique or interesting production.
While he may have a nice singing voice, for the most part this project is incredibly forgettable and the production sounds samey. It’s not bad, it’s just alright.

All I knew of Black Atlass before this project was that he was signed to The Weeknd’s XO label, which is the main reason I decided to check this out. And I’m glad I did. This project isn’t groundbreaking or anything, and some songs are a little samey and generic, but overall it’s a really enjoyable and really solid body of work with some well written, produced, and performed tracks.

This was my introduction to Grimes, and it has taken me a while, but I finally see the appeal of this record. The production is stellar and it blends many genres and styles into this one beautiful sound. It’s at times strange, and I think sometimes it’s lack of focus is to its detriment, but overall this album is great and has me intrigued to listen to more of her music.

I’ve never seen any appeal in Bad Bunny’s music, but that’s mostly due to Reggaeton not being my thing, and due to me not knowing Spanish. But I saw the really good reviews, and got bored due to the quarantine and gave it a try.
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but I’m still not a huge fan of this sound. Most of the album just sounded samey to me. That’s most likely because I don’t listen to this genre a lot, but I still didn’t get much from ... read more
This was my first time listening to a Jhene Aiko project, and I’m not impressed. This is literally one long song. It’s the same song over and over. It isn’t terrible, and there are some decent songs, but it’s just so generic, average, and forgettable. She has a nice voice, and the production is ok, but the songwriting and performances are too generic for this to really connect.

My only exposure to Jessie Reyez was her contribution on Eminem’s recent music, which I wasn’t all that impressed by. But this album, while not perfect, is pretty enjoyable. It features some unique vocal performances, but pretty generic songwriting and production, which is what I think holds this album back the most. Regardless, this is still a good album that has be intrigued to see how she progresses.

I was trying to figure out what I wanted my 200th review to be. And then I was reminded of this absolute masterpiece. I’ve always been scared to listen to this, but in honor of 200 reviews, here it is! (Live commentary down below with short review after)
Ascension Millenium:
Honestly, this is so terrible I’m enjoying it. I just keep laughing. I know it’s terrible but I just can’t truly hate this. (2.5)

This is one of the most watered down and colorless R&B albums I’ve heard in a while. Think of a generic alternative R&B album and what that would sound like and this is what you get. Is it terrible? No. But what’s the point?
I’ve always thought PARTYNEXTDOOR was an ok artist, and could occasionally come through with a catchy hook or song. And while that may still be true, this album is just so generic and boring that I just don’t really care. If this is your ... read more
There was a time a few years ago when I thought Joyner Lucas had a lot of potential and I was excited for a new project. But as years have gone by, his corniness has started to annoy me. The weird rollout of this album where he released like 8 singles (most of which were underwhelming) only made me less excited as well. Looks like for the most part I was right to not be excited.

As somebody who was never too impressed by Dua Lipa’s music up until this point, the praise around this album shocked me. But wow this is really good.
This is an album that effectively nails that nostalgic pop sound, as the album title suggests. The production is amazing, the hooks are catchy, and the album doesn’t drag on for too long. I generally think the first half is stronger than the second half, but the second half is still enjoyable. While it isn’t the best album ever ... read more
