This has got to be the fourth Coldplay to really suffer the front heavy tracklist curse. At least Everyday Life finally fixed the problem 4 years later.
There really isn't anything to talk about with this album, it's just Ghost Stories but the charm runs dry at the halfway mark
Strongest: Hymn for the weekend, Head Full of Dreams, Birds
Weakest: Fun, Army of One, Everglow
Oh, the Viva La Vida style and tone mixed with parachutes chill vibes makes Everyday Life my favorite among Coldplay's discography.
I appreciate a double album that really awards you for your patience and doesn't waste time. As much as I like mercury, I'd never listen to both acts together except on a really long drive.
Strongest: Orphans, Guns, Cry Cry Cry, Everyday Life, Daddy
Weakest: Eko
Coldplays coziest alongside parachutes; but parachutes is just way better. Still, beta-parachutes isn't half bad and I can't find it in me to dislike any of these songs.
Behold, the ultimate passive experience(except midnight, that song's fantastic)
Strongest: Midnight, Ink, Magic
Weakest: A Sky Full of Stars
Initially coming off as stronger than parachutes, AROBTTH fails to keep up its momentum and fumbles the finish line. There were great moments in Politik and the self titled track, but Coldplay continues the pattern of having rather top-heavy track lists.
Strongest: Politik, In My Place, AROBTTH
Weakest: Green Eyes
Coldplay really isn't all that bad, I'm willing to admit.
As their debut, parachutes is also Coldplays coziest album and the easiest to come back to. While it does peak early on, the tracklist is soothing enough to make up for it. And parachutes is the song I've ever heard
Strongest: Shiver, Don't Panic, Sparks, High Speed, PARACHUTES
Weakest: Everything's Not Lost
(EDIT: While I'll still contest that this is the weakest of their early albums, it's got some real highlights. Also, Talk is probably their best song. Period)
Extremely top heavy, everything after Talk blends into a colorful mush until Til Kingdom Come which was a desperately needed change of pace.
Strongest: Talk, Til Knigdom Come, What If, White Shadows, Swallowed in The Sea
Weakest: A message, Low, The Hardest Part
Man, I just can't get behind those vocals. I'll never be able to disassociate them with childish angst as long as I live
After listening to fear, all I could think was "Perhaps we treated Thunder too harshly"
Hey guys, I need you right now so start up the engines and get brewing with the music again my wizards
Man, I really was hoping this would grow on me since it's basically the beta AMSP, but nope. Some great highlights, but everything in-between is just so bland.
Alt j has again proven superior to Radiohead in that they know how to make great and seamless interludes.
Strongest: Videotape, Jigsaws Falling Into Place, Nude, Weird Fishes/arpeggi
Weakest: All I Need, Faust Arp, House of Cards
This is OneRepublic we're talking about, and somehow this is the only modern band my Dad finds interesting. Giving it a flat 50 out of respect for him
Pretty dang boring sorry. Not a fan of the anime sad lad asthetic, though I understand this was likely from fans so I'll forgive it. Still, instrumentals here all felt incomplete.
Not to mention some songs have near identical instrumentals, and the use of ai(while restrained) really sour this album for me. It was excusable with the last album since there was a commentary provided about the dangers of ai and it's place on art, but I really don't have the passion to engage with ... read more
