i feel like poppy is the best possible version of that internet artificial intelligence that became a nazi after like two weeks. this album does a good job on expanding on the sounds started in Am I A Girl? and developed in Choke. there were a few moments where it felt too similar to those projects, but for the most part it is a unique experience. really looking forward to the future of poppy, especially now that titanic is gone.
When you consider the fact that Lili was getting modest traction from her other songs/ EP going into this record, it is pretty amazing that she A) didn't just load the album with tracks from 2 years ago like many bands would do, and B) it came out this well. Don't get me wrong, it isn't fine art or anything, it's a love album. But I sort of admire its knowledge of that, with all the pros and cons.
huge drop in quality. the whole thing feels so much emptier and corporate. the singing is almost all jordi also, which makes it feel a lot less like the group effort i liked it for before. only a couple tracks toward the end that are worth the time, but even those are sort of walking the line.
BAD SOUNDS (BROODS) @ THE OBSERVATORY (3/29/19)
This was basically my first real concert, so I was super happy to have the opportunity of it being Bad Sounds- my favorite group right now, and one that is usually very UK based. Even though they were just the opener, it was the best half hour of my life. Everyone sounded amazing, they genuinely had some fun up there on stage, and it was an honor to see and sing along.
