Listening to the AOTY Top 100: Illinois
Very Glow Pt. 2 esque imo. A sweet and charming listen, and despite being such a long record it never really gets tiring. The best songs are Come On! Feel the Illinoise! and Chicago for sure, absolutely soothing listens. Great lyrics, stunning instrumention and overall, this is a really, really good album. Definitely listening to more Sufjan once I finish my listen of the top 100

Listening to the AOTY Top 100: Electric Ladyland
Another solid 60's album with some mind-blowing guitaring. Favourite songs are deifnitely Voodoo Chile, Voodoo Child and Long Hot Summer Night (second lowest rated song?). A ton of really technically impressive moments, but also a ton of kinda boring moments that don't do much for me, the biggest offender being 1983. I really hate when long songs do little with their length and unfortunately this song falls victim to that, everything between the ... read more
Listening to the AOTY Top 100: Deathconsciousness
Not too sure how to feel about this one. On one hand, a ton of moments on here sounds incredible, with a really dark and distinctive sound (they get a ton of mileage of that clanging sound i swear), with songs like bloodhail and hunter being extremely impressive sonically. On the other hand, there are equally as many moments which just exist to me and are lowkey boring, the biggest example of this being the big gloom, which is a really slow ... read more
Undefeated album by Griselda standards, and just in general. This is Gunn's highest rated album for a reason. Almost an hour long and NEVER gets boring, with some of the best produced tracks and features you'll hear on any Griselda project. Incredible stuff. Also Benny's feature on Shower Shoe Lords is CRAZY
The more I listen to this the less flaws I find in it, Every song on this album is absolutely stunning, with the latter half of this album being one of the greatest 5 track runs in music ever. Bodys, Cute Thing and Famous Prophets are easily some of my favourite songs oat. Really good shit
Unreal, outstanding vocally and thematically and produced amazing, alongside being insanely catchy. Absolutely stunning work
Listening to the AOTY Top 100: 98.12.28 男達の別れ
I said I wasn't gonna listen to live albums during this listen of the Top 100, but considering this is literally the highest rated live album of all time and the 5th highest album of all time it felt like a disservice not to listen to it. I think I'll only listen to lives if they have 500 reviews now
And man, I kinda regret not listening to this earlier. This record is the epitome of peace, it feels so calming. Such a luscious blend of ... read more
kinda amazing actually, still prefer soil but this is ep is way grander than that album
Listening to the AOTY Top 100: What's Going On
This is definitely my first controversial score I've given to any of these albums I've heard so far. Something just doesn't fully click with me here, the record has lush instrumentation, sweet vocals and a really nice message but man, it doesn't come together for me, and I ended up being kinda bored with some tracks. It's a shame because I really wanted to like this one, maybe my opinion will change upon future relistens, but as of now I'm ... read more
Listening to the AOTY Top 100: Abbey Road
Never in a million years did I think this was gonna be good. Before this album, I, admittedly, haven't heard many Beatles songs, and aside from Eleanor Rigby I couldn't even tell you the name of one, so I did kinda go into this thinking it'd be sleepy
It wasn't sleepy, or boring, or a drag at ALL. Like In the Court of the Crimson King, it's kinda hard to believe this album came out in the 60's, it's so fun. Excellent production, catchy hooks and is ... read more
Listening to the AOTY Top 100: In The Court of the Crimson King
This was a great listen. 21st Century Schizoid Man really pulls you in with one of the wildest album intros I've ever heard, genuinely mindblowing that this album came out in the 60's. That being said, that track is the only track that has that wild nature, with the remaining songs being mellower in comparison. That isn't a bad thing though, as the remaining tracks (minus one) were all really fantastic listens. I Talk To the Wind ... read more
Easily his best solo effort imo, it stands as the perfect middle ground between the extreme experimenting on FanDam and the general accessibility of Cancer 4 Cure. Most of his best songs are this thing for sure, the first half is back to back perfect tracks. After Drive this album unfortunately does falter a bit, but it doesn't stop it from being an incredible and really underrated record, its a shame this is his least popular work
edit: 95--->100 i was bugging lol, this shit is stellar the ... read more
Horribly underrated, score wise (should be an 85) and popularity wise, it's so un-conventional and it flows absolutely incredibly. The really maximalist glitch-pop sound is literally front and center so I don't think I need to talk about that, but one aspect that I feel is overlooked is how INSANE the hooks on this things are. This album genuinely has some of the best hooks I've heard on any album, they're unbelievably catchy. Also Clarence's voice is really unique, wasn't too big on it as ... read more
Listening to the AOTY Top 100: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust
Really fun Glam Rock album, and also my first Glam Rock album. Bowie is a great vocalist and has a real presence on these tracks, which is really complemented by the production. But this definitely started better than it ended (although I do love the closing track lol), the second half definitely didn't strike me as hard as the first half did, because songs like Five Years and Starman hit waaaaaaay harder than tracks like Ziggy ... read more
Listening to the AOTY Top 100: The Glow Pt. 2
Yeah this one really surprised me, not familiar with lo-fi or folk so I was really intrigued to get into this one and WOW. This album is way noisier than I expected and I really love it. The Glow, Pt. 2 literally jumpscared me when it started with how loud it was, Immaculate sound and lyricism, definitely gonna be returning to this one
HOWEVER, what is that last song, am I missing something. It's 9 minutes but really only goes on for about a ... read more
Listening to the AOTY Top 100: Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Solid hardcore Hip-hop. Definitely starts and ends pretty strongly, but the tracks in the middle didn't hit as hard for me. No bad tracks, but a couple were definitely less interesting to me than others. Second disk brought this back for me for sure, those last 4 tracks were absolutely incredible

Listening to the AOTY Top 100: Kid A
Peak Radiohead. This record has some of my favourite songs of all time on it, especially Optimistic, which is one of the most triumphant sounding songs ever. Everything in its Right Place is a perfect intro, the National Anthem goes CRAZY and How to Disappear Completely and Motion Picture Soundtrack are beautiful and harrowing songs. Also, Motion Picture Soundtrack really reminds of Crumbling by Mid-Air Thief. That all being said, this thing sounds ... read more
