Carole King - Tapestry
89

Carole King has one of the most PERFECT voices. Girls seriously do not make music like this anymore. Her songs and lyrics are so simple, yet they pack such a punch. This is gonna send me down a rabbit hole of trying to find more artists who sound like her LOL

- favs : you've got a friend/where you lead, I feel the earth move

Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
95

I have had this album on repeat since it was released. To say that I love Chappell Roan is an understatement. There is nothing in the world that makes me want to go clubbing, i would rather die. But listening to her music???? I need to be dancing on a bar table immediately. I grew up listening to Hayley Kioko, so gay girls singing pop music holds such a near and dear place in my heart; Chappell Roan and Renee Rapp are everything to me. I love her and... i want her. My pop princess <3

this album paved the way for psychedelic dream pop. its timeless, an og, still hits to this day. fire record

- favs : Fade Into You, Blue Light, Bells Ring, Unreflected

Lizzy McAlpine - Older
97

God I love Lizzy McAlpine. The production in this one is everything I wanted after Five Seconds Flat. The piano melody in You Forced Me To reminds me sooo much of the ballad of Jane Doe from Ride The Cyclone. Plus following up immediately after saying, "over and over the carousel ride-" in Older.....idk if that was on purpose but lizzy is a theatre kid so I wouldn't put it past her.

- favs: All Falls Down, Like It Tends To, I Guess, Vortex

this album is long as fuck how is it only 1 hour. I feel like so much happened, idek where to start. actually - I lied. I absolutely know where to start. MANTRA?? THE TRUMPETS??? love. love love love love love a trumpet or a saxophone in any song ever. it'll immediately win me over every SINGLE time. I fucking love it when they do that. ok, anyway. he made another banger. The Backseat Lovers - Waiting to Spill

This album took me so long to write a review for, and it's ended up being the longest one I've made because I have so much to say about it. The first time I listened to this record all the way through, I was floored. I'm a huge fan of their, 'When We Were Friends' album - so I knew I would like this one as well, but nowhere near to this extent. Every single song on the album feels like a direct callout to my brain and life. This has got to be one of the best albums I've ever heard, easily. ... read more

Hozier - Unheard

eating up every song hozier releases like a starved victorian child...or like i'm in the 3rd circle of hell. I love his choice to make this a B side / separate EP rather than re-release a deluxe version of the album. ok time to freak out! I LOVE FARE WELL!!!! IVE BEEN YEARNING FOR MORE HAPPY HOZIER MUSIC!!!! to make noise, anything but, now this............ genuinely everything i wanted. nobody appreciates happy upbeat hozier music like i do. Fare well is a perfect sister song to First Light - ... read more

Sam Fender - Hypersonic Missiles

this album is amazing. i love everything sam fender has and ever will do, but this record in particular is so well thought out and executed flawlessly. every single song has its own theme and message while still tying into one another. songs touch on politics, mental health, drug addiction, family struggles, and he managed to eat up every last one. he's got this indie rock thing going on that compliments his voice and tone perfectly. i can't wait to dive into more of his music.

Adrianne Lenker - Bright Future

This album. UNREAL. Her lyricism is unlike anything else, it has me completely floored. She writes the type of music that makes me have to recall my 10th grade poetry composition skills and dissect each verse line by line. Even then I still feel like I don't understand half of what she's saying, but that's part of the beauty of it all. This is without a doubt a love album, but she writes it in a way that depicts both sides of love. How you can't have one thing without the other. Light without ... read more

Incredible that she writes music like this only to hop on fortnite after. The duality of man.

- favs : show and tell!!, wallflower, ok on your own

I love maia so much. Her music has evolved so much overtime, she's one of the ogs along with dodie and beabadoobee who I will love forever and ever and ever. They are incapable of missing in my eyes.

- favs : quiet motions, no faker, fever dream

Dayglow - Fuzzybrain
80

For never having listened to this record in full, the album cover is engrained into my brain. I associate this image with summer 2020 so much it's surreal. Dayglow, Hippo Campus, Timi Temple, Weston Estate, Wallows - fun, laid-back, sunny, what more could you ask for? His vocals also kind of remind me of Andy Shauf weirdly enough? I love their voices so much. Anyway, this is a staple for bedroom pop / summer indie music.

- favs : Can I Call You Tonight, Hot Rod, Fair Game

Hobo Johnson - The Fall of Hobo Johnson
86

This might be outing my terrible taste in music, but here we go. I love music where men are objectively the worst and completely insufferable. I love music that sounds kind of bad and gets stuck in my head for weeks. I love slam poetry put to instruments. When this album was first released in 2019 it very quickly became one of my favourites. (I had to sandwich in some of those insults to make myself look better for the following.) There is so much emotion in each one of his songs and ... read more

Lunar Vacation - Inside Every Fig is a Dead Wasp

I love this album. I've been trying to review it in full for months, but the songs blend together so cohesively that trying to pick apart each individual song without my full attention was like watching paint dry. It's definitely best listened to in full as one singular entity or spread out to appreciate it fully. With that being said, fire album. They've got this soft indie-rock/pop thing going on...idek. it's awesome. Lunar Vacation always knows whats up and every time they release new music ... read more
