Overall, I'm impressed with the G.O.O.D. Music releases of this summer. Daytona absolutely blew me away, Ye was good enough, KSG is fucking awesome, Nasir we'll skip over, and K.T.S.E. is one of the biggest surprises of the year. Kanye's production across all of these albums is still immaculate, which is nice because his skill as a lyricist and rapper is not what it used to be. Even with all the controversy surrounding Kanye, I think the music can speak for itself and remain separate from ... read more
We can't have anything nice on this website anymore without stans ruining it.
The Habit EP was so memorable to me because of its ability to show the technical and lyrical skill possessed by Lindsey Jordan. The 6 songs were all one needed to get a taste of what was to come from the promising Maryland outfit. However, on an LP, the borders of each song become less and less apparent, eventually sounding uninspired and repetitive. Lush still shows the raw talent that Snail Mail has, and with it being very early in their career, I hope for the band to figure themselves out ... read more
More dark, gripping bangers from $aber. His flow is improved upon, sounding sharper and hungrier than he did on Kill Everything. Not much has really changed in terms of his general sound; Bill is continuing to rely on bass-heavy production to back him up, a good fit for his deep voice.
Basically, Bill $aber topped himself this year already, with everything just a bit harder hitting and high-quality sounding. There's no "Creepin' and Lurkin" or "Come With The Force" type ... read more
Murda Beatz & BlaqNmilD have the best beat of the year with this track. I think Drake was mediocre on this, with weak verses held together by a catchy but grating chorus. The complete song is good and definitely among my personal favorites as far as Top 40 pop rap goes, but the instrumental is the real star and I wish the producers got more credit (not to say they don’t get any, but this song would be shit with any other instrumental).
I want to say that Kanye is on his decline, as this solo effort is less than impressive. However his production remains stellar on the other G.O.O.D. Music releases from this summer. Kanye's artistry and vision are still intact, but lyrically and conceptually this is his weakest effort yet, although there is no shortage of good moments on this LP.
fav tracks: I Thought About Killing You, Yikes, Violent Crimes
Ugly God is a funny guy but he is yet to prove why anyone should give a shit that he has an album coming out. Boring rapper that brings nothing new or interesting to the table.
Crazy that this is the same artist who made “Boom Clap”. A different, but daring and successful progression in sound.
The biggest “fuck you” ever released. Kanye crafted a beat that few other producers could match the quality of, with terrific progression and the classic Kanye sampled vocals. Rappers would pay BIG money for a beat like this from Ye, but he doesn’t even see it fit for a proper verse, let alone to be on an album. Of course i’m annoyed that this isn’t a “real” song, but I do think Lift Yourself is fucking hilarious, and all Kanye needed to get people ... read more
Why is Getter even mentioned on this project? Of course he produced the tracks, but you would never know its him. These are beats that you find when you search "bones/suicideboys/pouya type beat" on Soundcloud. Bury Me was such a cool crossover song because Getter's EDM flair was very apparent throughout the track, but the beats on Dahlia I are not at all like that. And finally, Ghostemane is average across these 3 songs, leaving much to still be yearned for from these artists.
