Great EP that puts the featured artists over beats that they aren't used to. Aside from Lil Xan, all of the features were satisfying for me and made for a very enjoyable set of songs.
I don't think its that bad and enjoy a decent amount of the songs here.
The more intense and manic songs like "Elves", "Men" and "The Ball" stand tall above the rest of the album; a charming, but dry and lifeless, set of songs. The Dodos had a great vision of what they were doing and for the most part capitalized on that in their debut, but there is some indescribable factor of this album that just isn't there for me, leading me to push Beware of the Maniacs into the pile of Good Indie Albums That Aren't Quite Good Enough To Be ... read more
Math rock that says a lot without saying much. Over the course of this album, there are only a handful of lyrics: all of which come from a screeching, raspy voice. But the instrumental work is breathtaking. A subtle and somber set of emotions are conveyed through lush guitar soundscapes, making for an album that is minimal yet layered.
Tracks 5-7 really bring the album down. Everything before and after those tracks holds some very impressive gloom-gaze that shouldn't be overlooked.
Very textured and comforting as far as drone goes, but its still drone.
Not even a Tommy Wiseau video can save this pure-unadulterated shit from being what it is, just that.
Though the irony of that video is, this music is so awful it cant possibly not have been intentionally bad.
Inconsistent and continues to revolve around being edgy, but X has shown improvement for sure. To throw this under the category of "Failed SoundCloud rapper makes an album" yet again would be a mistake - the project has everything that made XXXtentacion popular in the first place.
From the melodramatic crooning (Moonlight), dark bangers (Floor 555), and standard pop rap songs (SAD!), all of the things that were explored early in X's career are present on this project. Are they ... read more
Across the board, I think everyone can agree that this is, for the most part, an inoffensive and enjoyable album. But I also think its fair to say that most of the people rating this so high have not listened to many albums in the same genre as this (myself included), leading us to get caught up in the hype of another popular album. Sure this is an awesome set of tracks, but if it wasn't from Jaar and if people's minds weren't clouded by Melon and Pitchfork, it'd probably be swept under the ... read more
Obviously this isn't a good rap album from a traditional standpoint, but I enjoy this in the same way I do the Lil Pump tape due to its energy and solid production. 6ix9ine has absolutely no shelf life and is 100% another flavor-of-the-month rapper, but he definitely capitalized on his fame and put out a decent collection of tracks.

I skip Andre 3000's part every time I listen to this song. Its corny and completely out of tune with the rest of the song. The following three verses are solid on their own, but I find myself going to the original Project Pat song with the same beat much more than this.
Good to see that this album is getting the recognition it deserves with Toledo's recent reworking. The new mixes don't really change my opinion of the album, however I still have to say that the original lo-fi aesthetic of the 2011 Twin Fantasy will never be matched in future CSH releases.
Still stands nearly a decade later as Kanye's most influential set of songs. Whether you like this album or not, there is no denying the enormous impact that 808's had on hip hop and pop music.
Their gimmicks are old at this point, but Brockhampton still delivers a damn solid album for the third time in six months.

I'm actually pretty disappointed, even though i've never been a big Migos fan, I hoped they could come through with a great trap album. Culture was decent but was carried by its singles, and now Culture II only had hype to carry it on. None of the singles were anything special and most songs go twice as long as they should be. Quavo and Offset's respective collaborative albums from 2017 were surprisingly enjoyable, showing that 2/3 of the Migos had at least a bit of depth. But this new ... read more
