Instrumental tracks are pretty sick. Petras has huge potential to make some bangin pop, but this EP doesn't seem to show her full range, as the fully-fleshed out pop songs are what is lacking. If she sang over the instrumentals (TRANSylvania, Boo! Bitch!) they would've been even better.
I wouldn't have expected Comethazine to be popular with critics and this site, but I also wouldn't have expected THIS much dissatisfaction with this tape. He's definitely a guilty pleasure of mine and one of my favorite SoundCloud rappers on the come up.
Gunna and Lil Baby are two rappers that i was listening to all the time this summer, and each of their respective projects from earlier in the year are pretty important to the new sound coming out of Atlanta. Between those albums, Sold Out Dates and Yosemite, and the social media hype, i got fucking excited for this.
Drip Harder pretty much delivered. There are no songs that i like as much as the previous two mentioned, but this tape is consistent. Baby and Gunna show some fresh, engaging ... read more
Six tracks of Thugger in top form. The song with Elton John is fucking insane.
Better than the 1997-99 singles but god damn did I get bored. Impressive moments and verses here and there, but as an album Iridescence fails to bring the charm and charisma that the Saturation trilogy had.
Noname's first mixtape was pretty average and didn't leave any impression on me. She was still finding her place as a rapper and lyricist, so I just thought of Noname as a Chance the Rapper protege. Room 25 completely changes that image of Noname that I once had. Her lyrics not only sound mature and fully-fleshed out, but they are personal and carry depth. Noname took the chill jazz-rap sound she started with and improved it.

Definitely preferred Tumor's dark alternative r&b to his new, but still poppy, more experimental sound. He shows progression as an artist, but I don't see this new project as an improvement. Yves whiney-singing, that definitely reminded me of Lil Peep (RIP), sounds uninspired and forced. His production isn't as textured as it was on Serpent Music and feels much more pretentious. Good album, but its lacking the charm I loved from 2016.
