this seemed to be perhaps the most cohesive metallica album that i have given a listen to. all of the tracks fit toether perfectly, with similar riffs and rhythms, along with an even variation of slow to fast. in my opinion, every album from metallica in the 80's is a masterpiece, and this only backs up my though.
fav tracks: blackened, one, to live is to die
a really funky soul album that i think is pretty average. not the same as what ty dolla sign does, but it seemed to be very similar. tiller is a solid singer, and not a bad rapper either, but i didnt like that he was mediocre at both. i think that tiller should do some fine tuning to his work, make himself either a better rapper or singer, and he will be much better as an artist. that being said, everything sounded alright with a trap style production, and i think tiller has some ... read more
tech n9ne relies on his speedy delivery way too much on this album. i really do believe that he does have one of the best voices and rapping abilities in the game, however it cannot stand alone. the production on this LP was nothing special, and a lot of the features sucked. honestly, i think if "worldwide choppers" werent on this album, i would have rated it a whole lot lower. but i think that wwc might be my favorite collaboration/ensemble track ever, as it has a great flow ... read more
a really thrilling album. in my opinion this is the best electronic project of the year. it had more of it's own identity compared to in colour, and i never felt that this LP slowed down at any point. a few of these beats reminded me of something similar to what el-p might produce, with a heavily electronic, futuristic sound.
fav track: alive
this was an annoying album. soko seemed to try too hard to be a retro sounding act. ariel pink was fine on this, he couldnt help this get much better though. i saw soko live once last year and i really enjoyed her performance (i didnt know i would see her, she was the opening act) but her studio albums arent too excting.
fav tracks: who wears the pants??
my favorite r&b album of the year, the hip hop elements are there, however ty dolla sign seems to sing a lot more, and he is very good at it too.
fav tracks: credit, guard down, when i see ya
an orgasmic collection of some of the best songs of all time by one of the best duos of all time. i doubt that this will ever be topped by a similar artist.
fav tracks: cecilia, the boxer, the only living boy in new york
another instant classic from metallica. this album did not have the special something to it that kill em all and master of puppets had, but it was still an amazingly satisfying listen. i preffered the instrumental tracks on this one compared to thos that were present on the previously listed albums due to the speed and overall created sound of them. i felt that they were much better off without vocals. i loved the whole structure and organization of this LP, metallica proves that they have ... read more
i was introduced to black sabbath when i was a little kid, like 7 years old. three tracks on this LP were on repeat for some of the early years of my life (war pigs, paranoid, iron man), and i still love them years later. i finally listened to the album as a whole, and was not disappointed. the tracks flow and complement each other so nicely, with ozzy osbourne's vocals only making this an even more memorable listen. definitely has a stronger first half, however the last 4 tracks should not ... read more
this is what all metal albums should strive to be. metallica showcases the pinnalce of their potential on this LP, with insanely intricate guitar and drum solos, as well as the vocals of james hatfield. the band has a perfect balance of the parts of a song with and without singing, and instrumental pieces. this deserves to go down as metallica's best project, as it was way ahead of it's time and will be remembered as one of the best metal/rock records of all time.

a true metal masterpiece. Metallica brings the best they have to offer with hard guitar riffs and piercing lyrics that give this album a hard feel. the best that the 80's metal scene had, this is one of the best LP's in the genre.

"According to Halsey, Badlands is a concept album that focuses on the fictional dystopian society known as The Badlands. The city is surrounded by a desert wasteland, keeping the inhabitants of The Badlands captive.[10] The album was inspired by post-apocalyptic movies such as Blade Runner and The Fifth Element. After writing the first few songs, Halsey came to the realization that the entire concept was a metaphor for her mental state. Halsey states that she created the Badlands as an ... read more
a really amazing album. busdriver has a really clean flow and voice, plus some above-average production to back him up. the singers who did many of the hooks had great parts to break up busdriver's bars. a sleeper hit that needs to be more well known.
fav tracks: how your sprinkler system work, upsweep, motion lines,
this was way overhyped due to troye's youtube fame, but he has some potential to become a great pop singer. he's got a light, airy voice that can get really annoying, but is alright. i only found one song to be one that i would go back to, the others were just mediocre.
fav tracks: touch
this really could have been a lot worse. riff raff's lyrics have basically stayed the same (ridiculous, but hilarious) and the production got a little better
tech n9ne has one of the best voices in rap, and his speed is insane. there are definitely some bangers on this LP, and i love those. tech even experiments with other genres outisde of hip hop. however, this album lacks depth. there are attempts to be emotional or deep when the death of tech n9ne's mom is mentioned, however it is not as sentimental as it is intended to be. in addition, the skits seem to be pointless, i couldnt find much of a correlation with the music.

EDIT: I haven't gone through this album in it's entirety since first listening to it. Biophilia is a daring experiment from Bjork, however it doesn't have the same appealing characteristics that her best albums had.
on this album, i felt that some tracks were classic bjork, similar to what is on vespertine and homogenic, and then out of NOWHERE came these dubstep/edm riffs. it was good, but seemed a little out of place for bjork, but then she followed the pace of it. i really liked some ... read more
