a little sloppy, but solid overall. sometimes i felt that this album was a bit busy at times, with constant guitar riffs, drumming, and shrill vocals all at once. in addition, there seemed to be some weird muffling of the vocals on some tracks, making them hard to understand. good but not great, basically what i expected for the band's debut. thank god that this led to the amazing album that is celebration rock.

EDIT: oh god, I said "unique" and "g.o.a.t. level" in the original review... also called it "some of the better rock of this decade"... smh
i found this to be an extremely fun and unique record, but it was inconsistent. the good tracks were really good, and then there were tracks that were just... boring. do i wanna know is one of my favorite songs of all time, and the other tracks seem to be almost g.o.a.t. level as well. i wish some of the songs were cut out ... read more
production on this album was very well done. cudis lyrics and delivery can get old and boring after a while, but this album has enough variation to get through. an honest and surprising project, its hard to believe how downhill cudi went from here in only one year.
fav tracks: satellite flight, too bad i have to destroy you now
least fav tracks: internal bleeding
kanye could get God to drop a verse on yeezus and the fucking pope cant get him to on wake up? weak
mostly coke lyrics matched with above average production. rick ross' verse went hard on hold on, as did pusha in verse 1 of suicide. pretty average, but very enjoyable
fav tracks: king push, hold on, pain
what the FUCK was this production? easily one of the worst produced albums that i have heard this year. its faux-hard, and sometimes even faux-soft. there is no direction in this LP, and its just straight up bad. the opener was the best track on this album, tyler had some nice bars and the production wasnt as awful as it was on other tracks, but still bad. was this supposed to be listened to while insanely high on cocaine? some of these songs were just unnecessarily long and the chorus ... read more
they lost the distinct sound that made disclosure themselves. bringing in a much more mainstream and radio friendly sound made the record lose some character. it's still produced well and has some solid features, but this record was overhyped and did not deliver
fav tracks: magnets
considering the production of this record, it is impeccable. but when also taking into account the lyrics and vocal samples, they did not impress me all that much. sam smith had the best vocals on this record, and if latch werent so goddamn overplayed on the radio it would have been one of my favorite songs on the LP, but i got so tired of hearing it by the time i reviewed this. in addition, there was one extremely repetitive drum loop throughout almost the entire album that just started to ... read more
one of my favorite songs this year. filled with tons of basketball and allen iverson metaphors, is catchy, and has a nice melody to it. nice lyricism and production overall
im gonna have to give this a few more listens, but i felt that this was very mediocre. fine i guess, but i really expected more. there were some nice beats and verses here and there, but nothing that impressed me too much.
fav track: erase me
honestly a terrific album. there isnt too much depth to cudi's lyrics, and the beats get slightly repetitive, but there is so much emotion is his voice and his singing is parallel to his rapping. the epitome of "chill" albums, this would be a great album to study to or ust hang out with this playing. psychedelic hip hop at its best. although, kanye and common contributed to the worst song on this LP, the lady gaga sample was a little hard to listen to. however, pursuit of ... read more

solaar has a very mediocre, but enjoyable album in cinquieme as. he has pretty powerful lyrics, but the production is pretty weak. the flow is maintained by mc solaar himself, the beats dont make much of a difference.
fav tracks: solaar pleure, la belle et le bad boy
EDIT: i grew some balls and learned to tolerate the screaming vocals. this is an amazing album from start to finish
loved the instrumentation, but im a lightweight, and i cringe when i hear piercing screams for vocals. i have no doubt that this is an impressive metal album, however i personally just cant get through someone screaming at me through my headphones. still a brilliantly produced LP though.
one of the most upbeat, happiest albums of this year. chance the rapper had just enough appearances in this for it not to be too much, and i really found the production to be some of the best this year as well. all of the features just meshed so well together, and i didnt despise big sean for he first time. there wasnt too much substance or depth to this project, but that wasnt enough to tear it down.
fav tracks: miracle, windows, go, sunday candy
rick ross brings his absolute best. this is a big change from 2014's mastermind and hood billionaire; there are even significant differences from september's black dollar. ross incorporates a very soulful jazz-style production on this record, and he ups his lyrical game to be more conscious and regarding important ideas and events. this album tells more of a story than any of his LPs with skits, and any of his LPs in general. ross goes back to a similar style that he had in his teflon don ... read more
full of energy filled bangers. thug doesnt have the best lyrics or voice, but he has what seems to be such a passion for this, which is what made this tape enjoyable for me. there was a really even variation of tracks on slime season, and i dont see any hug issues with it.
fav tracks: thats all, overdosin
i really enjoyed WZRD. it's one of my favorite alt rock albums of the 2010's so far, and i appreciate cudi wanting to change up his sound. but this is too much. the grunge-influenced speedin bullet 2 heaven has no real merit to it. cudi just croons in the same tone over every song, and the instrumentals are underwhelming. i expected maybe a quarter of this to remind me of WZRD, but none of it did. the beavis and butthead samples were the only true genius of this LP, i thought they were ... read more
overrated but still an amazing piece of music. metallica took the focus away from their instrumetals and added in more vocals, and shorter songs. thats about the only complaint i can give about this, i just preferred their (slightly) rougher sound. metallica is without a doubt the best metal band of all time.
