Isaiah Rashad - IT'S BEEN AWFUL

ITS PEAK

After a 5 year gap since his last album The House Is Burning, which I found to be his best project, Zay now comes back and delivers a simultaneously laidback and soul nourishing 54 minute project. This is everything you could possibly want with an Isaiah Rashad album, its chill, its got great lyricism, and its production is heavenly, this time taking a dip more into a pop-esque sound. For me another easy 9/10 in his catalogue and another great addition to a fantastic run of 4 ... read more

Kinda fw this tbh. Fun little holiday project with some enjoyable highs. Kind of hard to rate this given its not a serious project or anything but honestly kind of prefer this to goblin

Fav tracks: Big bag, Lights on

Kanye West - BULLY

A somewhat return to form for Kanye, but this still leaves much to be desired and is evidently unfinished. Its not Vultures though atleast

Fav tracks: Punch drunk, Whatever works

dälek - Brilliance of a Falling Moon

My introduction to Dalek despite the fact I've been meaning to check out Filthy Tongues and I can say I'm pretty impressed with what is delivered here. Definitely a worthwhile 2026 hip hop release to check out.

Fav tracks: Normalized tragedy, Expressions of love, Substance, I am a man, For the people, By the time we arrive

Marlon Craft - The Internet Killed The Neighborhood
91

This delivered on everything I was anticipating for it. Easily Marlon's best project and a definite standout of 2026 hip hop so far. The production here is frankly kind of nasty

On Wither's review of J. Cole - The Fall-Off
"@PostWither I guess I can see how it may come off as lazy. I personally find it fine though given art inherently comes from places of personal experience and perspective anyway, but i understand how it may appear to be dull, especially in the case of Cole who, frankly, has a rather uninteresting writing style at times."
On Wither's review of J. Cole - The Fall-Off
"I'm genuinely curious as to why you think he's rapping about nothing here. I do find Cole's writing to be rather on the nose quite often, but I feel like he took a more mature approach on this album comparatively to much of his prior work. Also, why the negative perspective on him rapping about his own experiences? That's a common feature of a majority of so-called conscious hip hop, not like its something new, unless that in it of itself is the reason you dislike it. Great review nontheless though, even if I personally disagree."

On Phoenix_wrong's review of Ice Cube - Man Up
"@Ableist_abby honestly that explains my thoughts perfectly. West Coast hip hop artists, atleast the mainstream ones, were never able to really evolve their sound and it just leads to all their projects sounding so dull compared to other regions. Especially so considering how washed lyrically a lot of them are now, like with Cube here. Luckily there's some amazing underground or underapreciated west coast artists that still keep that side of the genre alive, atleast aside from some of the more modern big names like Kendrick or Tyler. In their cases though they've obviously completely evolved passed the typical west Coast sound."
