Really captivating, even with the language barrier. Enjoyed listening to this!
Reasonably solid, but what really let it down for me was the fact that it felt like it was dragging on. I thought this album was comfortably over an hour long when I was listening to it. I'm not sure some of the tracks need to be included here
Whilst a bit unsure of it's direction and a tad basic at times, this was actually a decent listen. Some of the tracks are actually really quite enjoyable, and none really stood out to me as fundamentally bad songs either. It does suffer from some repetition and issues with it's overall soundscape, but overall it was pretty alright. :)
Top tracks - We Choose, Five Minutes, On&On
Quite hard to review as a non-German speaker, but musically it was pretty enjoyable. Henning's vocals are incredible as always, but perhaps without the shock factor seen in some other tracks.
Whilst it may sound somewhat basic to us now, there is no denying the pure brilliance of this album as a debut at the turn of the century. It's hard to even pinpoint any weaknesses here, as the consistency from beginning to end is absolutely stellar - with soaring highs and no real lows. It may not sound as creative as more recent albums, be they by the Strokes or one of the many spinoffs, but the influence of this record just cannot be understated. Listening to it, it becomes apparent even 20 ... read more
Beautifully raw and breathtaking at times, this album transports you to a world of pure emotion - the feeling of solitude and isolation perhaps heightened by the lockdowns of yesteryear. 'For Emma, Forever Ago' could even be described as an uncomfortable listen, but in the best ways possible with each track sounding similar, but pulling at your emotions in different ways. At times, there aren't even words to describe its beauty.
A couple of tracks struggle to reach the heights set by the best ... read more
The majority of this album just came across as corny and annoying. Not a fan of the vocals and most tracks were a miss for me, at least it was over quickly!
Beautifully atmospheric, at times even hypnotic. The soundscape is just brilliant from beginning to end, and the final track is an incredible culmination of it all.
I mean it's not great, but it's clear he's just having fun. Doesn't come close to TEOT at all.
It's absolutely insane, but a brilliant listen. At times I wasn't even sure what I was listening to, but it's unique sound and chaotic energy kept me hooked from beginning to end
An intriguing introduction into her music, this short EP gives a glimpse of Claire Laffut's unique French synth-pop sound. If you are a fan of this, then her full LP 'Bleu' is the obvious direction to head next :)
Utterly enchanting. The sounds here are absolutely beautiful and completely serene. An album that will envelop you in a dreamy soundscape that you won't want to leave.
Not really my thing. I can definitely see why people rate this album so highly, but it just didn't connect with me the way it clearly has done with other people. The musicianship is brilliant, but something somewhere just didn't hit me in the way I expected, and it left me a little underwhelmed in all honesty. I'll give it a few more listens to see how it grows on me :)
I think this is my first proper soundtrack review, and what a soundtrack to begin with. This is a harrowing, haunting soundtrack that fully immerses you in the horrors of WWI, building tension throughout and hitting like a truck when it needs to. Anyone who has seen the film will know the 3 synth-bass notes in 'Remains' - serving as a precursor to complete devastation and dismay. Those 3 notes pushed the film over the top for me, and will likely remain in my mind whenever I think of not just ... read more
Really enjoyable, the production is brilliant and Del does a great job from beginning to end. 3030 as a track is absolutely stellar
Really damn good, hard to sum it up in words. It's absolutely worth experiencing.
Probably one of my favourite songs of all time - the way that it begins fairly 'normal' for an improvised song before it's infamous descent into shit-based chaos is such a unique experience that will never be replicated. Listening to this track for the first time is such a fun rollercoaster of a journey that words simply don't do it justice, I just wish it was more accessible online so more people could enjoy it. :)
