amazing album. completely forgot to review it last year when I was listening to all of Radiohead's albums hahaha. Anyways, not a whole lot of thoughtful comments to make despite the contents of this album being very rich. a lot of "1984" vibes. "Exit Music" feels like an escape (heh) from a dystopian, grey society. "Let Down" has one of the most amazing and climactic moments in all of Radiohead's discog with THAT part (ykwim). "Karma Police" is ... read more
No rating yet, however, i will say that Kevin's music tends to take a while to grow on me. With that being said, this is, without question, his worst album. Tame takes a more direct approach to dance music, seemingly building off the sub-textures of 'The Slow Rush'. What resulted is 56 minutes of run-of-the-mill music. Even the highlights feel like they lack a lot of the charm his past four albums have had. Even his most mixed album before this, 'Innerspeaker', still ... read more
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
third Cocteau Twins album. major disappointment. it wasn't even bad, just never particularly engaging. like, cool sounding but boring. i enjoyed some moments like the drums on 'Cicely', or the outro 'Donimo', which were both quite nice. perhaps I'll just have to come back to this at a different time and I'll like it a lot more. expected a lot more from the Twins.
I've kinda avoided goth rock, only because I've long known that I wasn't ready for it. It felt like it just wasn't the right time, any time. Every time I would try it out, I felt like the songs just went onnnnnn and onnnnn and were so boringgggg and the vocals were so uninterestinggggg. Anyways, I get it now. No more of those days. This stuff rocks! Shoutout the month of October for finally making me decide to listen to this DOPE album. Very spooky, very cool! CHECK IT ... read more
This is an album that I can very well see growing significantly on me, even by the end of the year, because there are more than a handful of spectacular moments on this thing. Standout being the closing track 'The Reply', which finishes "The Spiritual Sound' with a total tour de force all-killer song. The type of thing I look for when I listen to this type of music.
With time, I can only see it getting better and better. For now, though, it's a good blackgaze album. ... read more
OG SCORE: 78. NEW SCORE: 88
I meant to update my original rating of 'Veteran' a few months ago, but I forgot. Anyway, it's grown on me quite a lot over the two or so years I have been listening to it on and off. Although a bit spotty with some harsher lows than subsequent albums from Peggy, the highs make up for it most of the time.

I wasn't a huge fan of the OG version of this album. I think I still had to let it sink in for a while longer once this version came out, so I gave it some time. Upon revisiting this updated version, I can confidently say...
PEGGY DOESNT MISSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
Literally packed full of bangers back to back. Before, I felt that Peggy wasn't really doing much more than adding in more hardcore elements with some metal instrumentals on top. And he did it fine! It just wasn't anything ... read more
although it gets spotty in the second half, that's NOTHING to stop you from checking out some DOPE production and UNIQUE vocals. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of electronic/jungle music!!! A LOT OF FUN
first listen thoughts:
despite maybe three or four duds, this thing bumps front to back with almost NO SKIPS.
STANDOUT TRACKS: ladida, sum, doing it too, bite the bait, sweet sensation, I'm your muse, around

the definitive DG album?
an utterly enthralling 39 minutes of breakneck DG excellence. every track, even the more "low-key" moments still feel like they're absolutely crushing it. hard to find a single solid dull minute on this thing. when I began going through Death Grips' discog, I was hesitant because I was worried that every record after 'The Money Store' would be significantly worse than it. Obviously, this has been something I've realized was an ... read more
Four raw, guitar-only versions of songs from "Man Alive!" the minimal yet rich textures here create an environment completely different from the ones present on the album versions of these songs, particularly 'Alone, Omen 3' and 'Energy Fleets'. it feels like there is some added context, a visual to assign to these songs. Archy, standing in some field in England with traffic behind him at sunset, armed only with his guitar...paired with the interludes, it feels ... read more
Incredibly good screamo record. kind of collapses at the end imo, but even then it's never unlistenable, and for screamo this is some top-notch material. CHECK IT OUT!!

OG SCORE --> (65) NEW SCORE --(99)
They're going to call me a glazer for this and NLDW's scores...
i had a decently written review ready, but decided that that was better! As for the contents of "Distinguished Gentlemen on the Moon", I would say...give it a listen!! It's quite an intriguing record! two thumbs up for Death and the Grips!
OG SCORE ---> (68) NEW SCORE ---> (93)
kinda starting to piss me off how I'm beginning to look like a DG glazer bro AHHHHHHHHHHH
both the sounds on NOTM AND Jenny Death are...interesting. Just gonna do an individual review for each instead of a single one here. As a whole product, both took over TWO YEARS before not only revisiting, but really enjoying, or finding a great deal of worth in the textures present. Sometimes coming back isn't such a bad idea because you don't ... read more
