Mos looks disappointed on the cover, which is a word that couldn't in any sense describe my feelings toward 'Black on Both Sides'
I love this album so much, like a beautiful baby being nurtured in the summer sun underneath a great oak in full bloom. Calm breeze...
okay this album is awesome. the only Denzel album i've listened to (besides this one now) is "Melt My Eyez See Your Future", which is one of my favorite hip-hop albums of the 2020s. honestly disappointed in myself for not checking out more of his music earlier. Denzel sounds a lot angrier on here, and the beats match. Storytelling is excellent. a few tracks i wasn't exactly crazy about, but this album still pulls through and its quality isn't sacrificed because of a few ... read more
I was very excited coming into this, as 'You Might Think He Loves You...' is my favorite Death Grips song, which would've ultimately set me up for disappointment either way. Well it didn't live up to it, but even then there weren't all too many moments on here that made me feel completely interested, even the highlights like 'Two Heavens' and 'Whatever I Want'. I wouldn't say any song on here is "bad", just kinda...sounds. Most of it ... read more
Death Grips discog dive #3
Besides my falling-out-of love with Death Grips' music, the only reason i avoided this album was because of the dih on the cover. I now see that I was missing out on what is by far the most consistent, and awesome album of theirs I've heard yet. Without argument my favorite. NLDW takes the grittier, raw industrial sounds of "Exmilitary" and the glitched production of "The Money Store" to create something that manages to eviscerate with ... read more
Audio madness.
very abrasive record, especially compared to 'The Money Store'. Not sure if "enjoyed" is the right word to describe listening to 'Exmilitary', I think it would be more accurate to describe it as a 48 minute barrage of harsh, noisy, disturbing, screaming in your ear with blasted out 808s that pop and sizzle before returning to continue its constant battering. Cool mixtape. Not a big fan of industrial, but overall found this to be an interesting ... read more
(90) --> (70) --> (89)
I've suddenly decided to do an album discog dive into Death Grips for seemingly no reason other than having some previously mixed feelings about their music. I figured starting from the point of introduction to their music would be best, and to go from there. I first listened to 'The Money Store' in late 2021 when I was first getting into "weirder" hip-hop. I initially loved this album quite a lot, but over time my interest kinda stagnated ... read more
It really doesn't get a whole lot better than Lupe absolutely spitting over some Nujabes-sounding beats. Incredibly focused project. Just the right length to never feel like it's dragging any, especially with the production. Easily one of my favorite hip hop albums of the decade. Astonished at how much I enjoyed this
overall good project, especially considering it was MADE in 72 hours. results occasionally vary but all in all quite consistent

OG score (99) ---> NEW SCORE (100)
I still vaguely remember the first time I listened to 'Some Rap Songs' on Christmas Eve 2021. I had no expectations for it. I thought the album cover was weird yet oddly intriguing. After that first listen my mind was blown. I had never heard anything like it. I was only just getting into hip hop then. Pairing this with 'LP!' and 'By the Time I Get to Phoenix' as some of my introduction albums to the genre, the door ... read more
Review #200
For me, Flying Lotus is one of those artists that is so easy to get lost in the sounds of, to such an extent that everything flows so seamlessly that by the time the album ends, it's almost like snapping out of a trance and coming back to reality. All of his albums have this effect on me, but 'You're Dead!' might be the best example.
From the bizarre jazzy sketches like 'Tesla' that come by, rock you a little, then send you on your way, to the ... read more

- YEAT on 'LOCO'
Cool album. Second half kind of loses its footing unfortunately...will come back to eventually.
actually i'm SO pumped for this album now wowwowowowowow
SO much more enjoyable than CHROMAKOPIA (which is, without question, Tyler's worst album since Cherry Bomb imo). Although the sounds here aren't anything new, just a departure from the sound that has been dominating his music since IGOR feels refreshing (the same sounds slightly altered can only work so often (CMIYGL is great, CHROMAKOPIA isn't)). The brevity of DTTG is SUCH a big aid, nothing ever lingers on and on for too long (Tyler most likely knew that). Each song comes and ... read more
me when i'm mckinley dixon and everything i make is absolutely, unmistakably excellent
first and last quarter of it are great, middle half is so forgettable unfortunately. Still a good effort nonetheless!!
this is probably a great album to smoke a cigarette to at 3:20 AM when it's raining. just out on your porch, watching the steady rainfall puddle up underneath the streetlight...it's also miserably humid. Fantastic record
'Man Alive!' really is a perfect title for this album, considering its atmosphere is so much, well, livelier, compared to 'the OOZ', which is the musical equivalent of being a backed up basement floor drain (complimentary).
