The Solidified - Unearth

Thanks @Wrecx for recommending this.

It's a decent Electronic release that had a few tracks capture my intrigue.

Empress Insecta - Mourning in Protest

Thanks @Barchel for recommending your album to me!

The dense dark gothic emo vibe with some modern experimental rock elements you have going on here is truly fascinating to my ears. Though even that looses it's luster as I traverse through this experience. It may be a unique enough to capture my interest initially, the lack of sonic diversity really starts to wear down my enjoyment as things go along. The spark of interest is recaptured near the end with the dark enchantment of ... read more

Hello Meteor - Mondo Canyon
85

Hello Meteor back at it again with a phenomenal release to start 2025. From the entrancing opener to the excellent IDM throughout reinforcing my love for the genre and this underground artist. We even have some jazz and ambient elements sliced in for good measure. It may not have struck as strong of a chord when I was listening to it during work the first time, but the quality remains as does my appreciation for this artist's efforts. If you're a fan of some of some smooth night time ... read more

Death - Symbolic

Hey look at that, I actually enjoyed a Death album! Kinda helps that it's often regarded as some of their best work hell it's regarded as the highest standard for Technical Death Metal. I don't know if I personally would place it as some of the best metal I have heard, but it's indeed a worthy listen for all metal heads around. Good shit! 🤘

Björk - Post

A captivating varied listen. Bold without getting unhinged. Explorative but still familiar. A unique voice backed by quality innovative production. If I didn't get the Björk hype before, I certainly do now.

Elliott Smith - Elliott Smith

Yep. That's two for two of Elliot Smith albums that does absolutely zilch for me. I saw this one as just another generic "man and his guitar" release that failed to captivate me in any way. I even read the lyrics and they didn't do it either. I'm sorry, but I am just not connecting with this guys work thus far.

Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...

This doesn't do much for me with the rather basic feeling production and uninspiring rapping imo.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
95

The sheer quality is so high and consistent throughout the two hour experience with enough diversity to keep things fresh and interesting throughout. A truly impressive achievement and is a surefire 90s alternative rock classic that will be well garnered for generations to come. Well done!

D'Angelo - Brown Sugar

Oh my it's been WAY too long since I have been to exposed to some soul, this is such a fantastic dosage! Definitely need to listen to more of this amazing genre. Other than a couple of tracks that didn't quite hit the mark, this is as good as it gets!

Three 6 Mafia - Mystic Stylez

We got a solid Horror core release fresh from Three-6 Mafia that gives a convincing reason to be absolutely terrified of these mofos with the spooky ass beats and psychotic rhymes and rhythms. These guys are the real deal and if you disagree don't say I didn't warn ya...

2pac offers a very engaging West coaster that highlights why he became an all time iconic rapper in such a short amount of time before his time was unfortunately cut short not too much later, but not before he gives us a couple more releases after this.

Yeah this is easily their best effort up to this point in their tenure. Dark, gothic, atmospheric, industrial, folky, noisy, experimental, magical. Everything that I love about this legendary band is in here! And apparently it gets even better with their next release being the finale of their first era. Front to back this is a must listen and is a thoroughly enjoyable listen! Very much worth the wait I put on myself.

So here we are. The big one.

The band that I have been looking forward to listening to since I saw just how damn acclaimed they are nearly two years ago. So after all this time and thousands of albums and tens of thousands of tracks later, it's time to see what this little hidden gem indie band that has radios for heads are all about. Let's see if The Bends will make my fine ass bend for it...

Selena - Dreaming of You

In her final full release after her unfortunate passing, Selena offers a quality release that bridges two cultures remarkably well and proves to be a formidable statement from the tracks garnering hundreds of millions of clicks to the authentic Mexican tunes that are just a pleasure for the ears. I could wish for what could have been for her career if she had this release and her fast growing fame to build off of, but I am grateful that we have what we got while we still had her around. On Muddy Waters - After the Rain
"@AidenBowe45 I honestly am just too familiar with this kind of style of straightforward Blues, sure it's classic but I find it stale and uninteresting especially compared to other styles that bring more to the table of the genre that makes for more engaging listening."
On Herbie Hancock - Fat Albert Rotunda

On girl in red - if i could make it go quiet
"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

"@Jakeisthedoctor You mentioned that across the board I have wild takes, are there more recent examples that raises your eyebrows?"
On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."
On Drake - Scorpion
"@Triplo Thanks! I don't often have something to say about an album these days past a standard passing observation, but popular releases from the 2010s are a good way to get be talking at least a little bit."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw 👍 Whatever you say bud. I'll keep on doing what I do regardless of your berating."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
