Wow this song is good, I haven’t stopped listening to it all day. These lyrics are super carefully written, and the whole thing feels like a very complete listening experience.
The chorus sounds great, too, it’s got a lot of swing to it.
I’m largely not a fan of the first half, but the second half pulls it together, and it ends up being really enjoyable.
My favourites are:
Lovefield
Do It
I’m going to come out and say I am not the biggest fan of the folk vibes present on a lot of these tracks. I’ve never been big on folk, but I’ll still admit that they were still at least passable.
The most notable thing on here is easily Echoes, with One Of These Days being a somehow distant second despite how good it is. Echoes has potential to be the best song ever made, or at least top 10. The first ten minutes or so is really chill to listen to, and a lot of great ... read more
What can I say, I’m a sucker for psych rock
90 > 100
Listening to this album feels as enriching as watching something like Breaking Bad. Every listen bears the opportunity to discover something new about the genius writing present in every track.
The Dark Side of the Moon is beautiful conceptually, and in practice.
The most legendary album of all time, and for very good reasons.
A lot of the tracks here are very interesting to listen to. It has darker, more mysterious tracks like One Night/All Night and Explorer, beautiful tracks like Mannequin Love and Afterimage, super hyper songs like Dear Alan and Generator, and the masterpiece that is Neverender.
The fact that Tame Impala features twice here is really cool, he brought a lot to the table in two of the best tracks present.
My favourites are:
Neverender
Afterimage
One Night/All Night
Mannequin Love
Explorer
The first few tracks here is an easy 8 or 9/10. However, the tracks following just get progressively worse and worse, devolving into senseless noise. It’s pretty boring.
It’s a shame because I enjoy the fresh feel of the first few, and feel inclined to give this album a higher score than what I will; definitely not the duos best.
My favourites are:
Safe and Sound
Pleasure
Alakazam!
It came across a little messy at first, but I quickly warmed up to it and got into it.
Solid, but feels a bit repetitive.
Thank you for the recommendation hyperzoomin!
It isn’t reinventing the wheel, but it’s super chill psychedelic music with lots of heart. It really felt like I was hearing someone’s journey to feeling free.
This album is progressive, ambitious, and worth the listen; I was impressed by the consistency in the soundscape and the quality, it sounds very professional.
My favourites are:
Just Breathe
What We Don’t See
Mother’s House
Embrace You
Thank you for the recommendation hyperzoomin!
I realised I forgot to review this one, even though I listened to it back in March when it dropped.
It’s overall solid, but unfortunately doesn’t feel like it’s taken in any real direction. The whole album feels the same pace, which is a shame, because the individual songs are good in a vacuum.
My favourites are:
Celluloid
Expanding Blue
The only thing holding this back from a 100 is that I haven’t listened to it enough. I can see myself coming back in a few weeks to bump it up to that 100 rating.
There is really only one song here I’m not crazy about, that being Bad Decisions.
Incredible lead single for the album. Super impressed by the quality of the singles so far
It’s okay. I hope that it is a demo, because the autotune kinda ruins it. Aside from the vocal production, this song is great
70 > 80
Its grown on me quite a bit. I think removing the autotune would still make it better, but it really isn't bad
Something about this album hits all the right spots in my head. I also have a lot of nostalgia for it.
My Favourites are:
Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)
Haiti
I listened to this album a ton last year. It’s one of my many favourites that I forgot to review.
Tourist History just oozes with passion through every song. It’s an incredible show of cliche indie pop.
My favourites are:
What You Know?
Undercover Martyn
Cigarettes In The Theatre
Truly one of the best shoegaze albums out there.
My favourites are:
