The Now Now is very consistent in its quality all throughout, and marked the final album in Gorillaz discography for me to listen to. I’m happy this one was last, it was really nice. Not the greatest, but by far not the worst.
The ending and the beginning were the strongest parts for me
I’m coming back to edit this after hearing it a few more times; It grew on me some more. The Now Now is relaxing, well paced, and simple, yet so effective.

Super excited for this album now! This is a super great opening that wastes no time
February 27th was a pretty big day for music. Out of the big names dropping albums yesterday, Gorillaz easily takes the cake for me. Mitski was a little disappointing. To be clear, I don’t hate the album. I think it’s good, with some exceptional tracks. My biggest problem is that a lot of them are lacklustre, slow, or boring.
I do think this record had potential to be better than it is, and I walked away from it pretty much unaffected. I don’t think I would listen to it ... read more
I think the current 75 rating is accurate.
I really don’t like the beginning, but around halfway through it starts getting more emotional, which I liked.
Overall a great story; very coherent, but my biggest issue is that the listening experience can be lesser at times.
There are still some tears in my eyes as I’m writing this review FRESH after listening to the album. I’m kind of astonished by it, to be honest.
Such a coherent experience with the story, but also the soundscape. The lyricism and songwriting is something worthy of making history, frankly.
For Gorillaz to have this kind of a comeback after what is widely considered to be a big fall off, is something so impressive it’s hard to fathom what it must feel like for Damon.

One of my most listened to songs of all time (Severed Head) comes from the deluxe edition of this album. I listened to that song 507 times in one week.
Suffice to say I love this album, with my favourites from the non deluxe version being The Lost Chord, The Valley Of The Pagans, and Pac-Man.
The record has a certain charm, or quality, to it that I haven’t seen on many albums. The general quality is really high, especially in the production with dreamy synths and unique sounds. I like ... read more
I like Cracker Island, I think the vocals never disappoint, the features are nice, and a few of the singles hit. My favs are New Gold, Cracker Island, and Silent Running. My biggest issue is that most of the tracks are forgettable, or just alright
Most of these tracks are easy listens, and I don’t have too many problems with the album as a whole. My biggest issue is that sometimes it doesn’t feel like it has enough substance. It has some really sweet instrumentals, and in a few tracks, great vocals
I think this album is an essential for modern psych/pop.
Kevin Parker’s influence in the production is clear on several songs. That, paired with Pond’s brilliant song writing and vocal performance here, makes something better than some of the albums on the Tame Impala project.
Paint Me Silver, Sweep Me Off My Feet, Colder Than Ice, and The Weather are my favourites off the record, because of their beautifully unique production and songwriting.
What a good introduction to Pond ... read more
I wasn’t expecting to like this album as much as I do.
I figured it would be one of those things that critics love, but it’s not fun to listen to. I was wrong. This album is wholly experimental and obsessive. The guitar kicks ass, and all the while the lyrics and vocal performance is dreamy and addictive.
Backbreaker specifically is a super progressive, rock focused song that is just a brilliant display of songwriting and exemplary for psych as a genre
Right now, this is my ... read more
This album seems to be the flip side of their debut album, Swim Slowly, in the sense that Swim Slowly had one of the strongest finales to an album I’ve ever heard, and Eternal Embers has one of the strongest openings. I genuinely believe the first 3 (maybe even 4) songs are perfect.
The album has this contrast with water and flame, with the fire representing pain, and the water being healing. So many of the songs capitalise on this theme, like ‘Into The Blue’, ‘The ... read more
I bought this for my vinyl collection some time ago cause it’s a nice, easy, indie rock listen. It doesn’t blow me away, but its nice to come back to every once in a while
I have a very strong personal connection to Swim Slowly, its helped me through some rough times.
In terms of quality, it’s one of the best albums ive heard. The verses are just as interesting as choruses, and the instrumentals are so dreamy and rock focused. This feels like the epitome of spacey indie music.
The final song on the album is also something I want to talk about, where it starts off slow, quiet, and reflective. Near the end, it kicks into high gear with an all out ... read more
I think its alright, and it does good things for the movie, but overall I think its lacking some sort of substance
I wasn’t sure if I’d like this album, because I found her other one to be a little too experimental with the vocals at times. This one still is experimental, but it lands better for me; there are only three songs I wasn’t crazy about.
The album starts off grand with its instrumentals, quickly switching to a darker side with its lyrics for the mid point, and finally into a slower, ultimate conclusion. I really liked that sense of progression, where the album is still ... read more
I don't think Damascus will be topped as the best in the album once it releases in full; It's so fresh and full of colour. The instrumental made my eyes go wide, and I had to take a step back the first time I heard it.
They know exactly what they're doing for this album, and with just the singles I would give it a 100. It is impossible for them to mess up at this point.
Even ignoring biases from my entire life growing up with this game, It's a 2 hour long masterpiece with emotional control over me every time I hear it.
There are moments full of hope and inspiration that give me chills, and moments of despair and loneliness with the same effect.
C418 really did not have to go so hard for a block game.
A lot of passion clearly went into the making of this album, and a lot of the songs are absolute bangers. I think its a little too lengthy, and feels like its overstayed its welcome in the middle. The end and beginning are really good, but there's a spot in between that I wasn't a fan of
