Brad Taste 10s: Pt. 10

It's better than Illmatic. Though it's close.

It's kinda hard to compare those records 'cause this one is much more fun. Mostly, it's more entertaining to listen to because it has so many different MCs with different styles and approaches.

But it's kinda too long at times. A good thing about Illmatic is that it's short and on point, while this one is goofing around and making self-references.

Anyway, nice album, kinda kept me entertained. Shame on a Nigga is really ... read more

black midi - Hellfire

I like it when something is progressive but still that catchy.

There were some moments on the album when it kinda lost me, and some songs that were longer than they could've been, but overall it's just really nice. It starts amazing, I mean if you don't count Hellfire, and ends great, on one of the best songs on the album.

I gotta check some more stuff from these guys.

Nas - Illmatic

BradTaste 10s: Pt. 9

Just pretend that you don't see the score. I mean, this album is a lot better than 72, it's just not my thing. And actually, the fact that it's not my thing at all, and I still kinda like it says a lot about how good this album is.

I hope this thing grows on me, but so far there are 2 distinct highlights for me, N.Y. State of Mind and The World Is Yours. When you listen to both of these songs you just immediately understand that they're iconic.

Anyway, I know I'm wrong ... read more

Swans: Pt. 8

This thing is... kind of alright.

I mean, I don't really know what to say about it, it's weird. It's also weird how the highest rated songs are my least favorite ones.

I really like I Am the Sun and Mother_Father, but, outside of them, and maybe Where Does a Body End, I don't think I'll come back to any of the songs.

One of the other reasons I don't enjoy this album that much is that it kind of tries to sit on two chairs. Sometimes it is catchy, but not as catchy as White ... read more

Revisiting Bjork: Pt. 4

Most of my last reviews are basically just me saying "Yes, I like this classic unanimously praised album, I'm just not as crazy about it as y'all are."

I mean, this thing is very good. At times, it's magnificent, at other times it's between mid and decent. Kind of an inconsistent one.

Everything on the first half is great. Hidden Place and Cocoon are so different yet equally amazing. The songs after are also great, the lyricism on It's Not Up to You and on ... read more

Björk - Homogenic

Revisiting Bjork: Pt. 3

This was quite essential (78=>86)

This album isn't at all perfect, but it is great, and basically every song has grown on me and got my appreciation.

Hunter is a nice start, I really like the lyrics about organizing freedom. But this album quickly elevates to an another level of quality with Joga. What a great song! I gave it a 90 but I don't actually think I can complain about anything in it. Unravel and Bachlorette are a little weaker, if I'd have to compare, ... read more

Anacondaz: Часть 2

Короче, в чём проблема этого альбома. Когда у тебя 9 треков на альбоме и 2-3 из них проходные, это нормально. Когда проходных треков примерно 10 из 15, это уже большая проблема.

Revisiting Bjork: Pt. 2

Yep, I gotta revisit all of her albums. (80=>84)

This thing is great, the first half of it is actually amazing. The second definitely has some misses but is still very good.

Actually, the only miss this album has is the closer. I respect how experimental Headphones is, and I like the message of it, but I don't think that was the right way to end this album.

I don't know if I should or want to go song for song because both of them are just great. But I have to ... read more

Death - The Sound of Perseverance
81

I find it hard to measure how much I liked this thing. In a couple of weeks, this rating may seem ridiculously low.

Anyway, it starts with an amazing song, probably the best on the album, Scavenger of Human Sorrow. I actually knew this one, and it took some time for me to get used to the vocals. I really like how that song, and therefore the album starts, with those insane drums followed by an insane little guitar lick. In 10 seconds you understand just how technical those guys are.

Revisiting Bjork: Pt. 1

I deleted my previous review, mostly because it sucked, but also because this album has kinda grown on me. (61=>70)

So, the first half of the album is good. Human Behaviour is a very good opener. I love the lyrics on it, I find it interesting how Bjork can't find logic in human behavior though we clearly see through the album, that her behavior is also quite irrational.

Venus as a Boy has grown on me a lot, it's just a beautiful song that may just be the best on ... read more

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!
67

BradTaste 10s: Pt. 7

This album is way better and much more interesting than the one before it, but I still can't say I was crazy about it.

It also feels kinda inconsistent. While Storm takes its time to create something beautiful, Static is just too damn long. While Sleep feels like a complete experience, the closer feels really incomplete, though it has some great moments.

Overall, only 2 of the 4 songs are worth sitting through. Which is an improvement from the previous album, where ... read more

Bjork: Pt. 6

This album is less cohesive, less interesting, and overall worse than anything Bjork made so far.

Oxxxymiron - Красота и Уродство

Oxxxymiron:

BradTaste 10s: Pt. 5

Wtf? I wasn't ready for whatever that was.

Though this album really caught me off guard at times, I don't think that I was even close to covering it from the first listen.

Mary Turner is such a brutal song that I'd probably like it more if the album would end on it.

Anyway, it was an interesting experience, with some songs that I liked and gave a heart to, but I'll probably never comeback to outside of the whole album. I gotta revisit it asap.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F♯ A♯ ∞ [CD Version]
56

BradTaste 10s: Pt. 4

I decided to start listening to Godspeed from this album instead of the skinny fists one. And it was a mistake. I didn't get it.

The start was promising, and the last 2 minutes of Providence were great, but really not worth the wait.

I'll come back to it eventually and hopefully pull out more from it but, as of right now, I'm disappointed.

Макулатура: Часть 12

Brad Taste 10s: Pt. 3

This album started very good and slowly went downhill. I mean, I like how it sounds, but it gets too repetitive at times.

The thing I noticed about this album is how empty it is. Not in a bad way, it just has a lot of empty space.

I don't have a lot to say about this album, it was definitely an entertaining listen, but it could've been shorter and better.

Oxxxymiron - ГОРГОРОД

Oxxxymiron:

"@rices You didn't really answer anything; you just said, "Supporting death is not right." Of course, I'd rather people not dying, but it's a war. The death of people in Gaza is on Hamas's hands, not ours."

"@rices I'm not sure, but from what I see on Everett's page, he's probably from Great Britain. Also, about the bias: I may have lived in Israel for the last 8 years, but I was born and lived half of my life in Russia, which doesn't stop me from fully supporting Ukraine, despite having a strong connection to Russia and its culture. So I wasn't biased in that case, which may show that I'm not too biased here either."
On Macklemore - HIND'S HALL
"@rices You referred to Netanyahu helping Hamas gain power like 3 times, which really means nothing, since I'm not defending him, I'm defending a country, and Netanyahu can't make the decisions like attacking Gaza singlehandedly. Also, Hamas wouldn't gain any power and win the elections if the people living in Gaza wanted peace, because they had peace, they wanted wars and attacks. So that's what we gave them. You should save Gaza from Hamas, but it seems like the people in Gaza don't want to be saved, which is really sad."
