Rachika Nayar - Heaven Come Crashing
NR

This album feels like inhaling a magic star powder. It is mostly instrumentals, but the big presence of melodies and variety made it one of my favourites albums last year. There's just something really haunting about it, combine M83 from the Dead Cities era... with Yeule using a guitar as a way to transcribe her sweet vocal melodies, or something similar to that. This is more than an ambient album that creates a vibe or that's interesting. Each track is giving you an experience and a feeling, ... read more

James Blake - James Blake
NR

sometimes with less, the message is sent clearer.
The use of silence and minimalism in this album is so masterful. After a few EP's, James would drop his debut album back in 2011. A truly, truly complete album. We have elements of minimalistic electronic, alternative R&B and dubstep. That are all used in such a haunting way to make sense. James knows clearly when a song is done and there's no need to add more, even with the short list of sounds he is using, he tweaks and makes every single ... read more

Taylor Swift - Lover
NR

I think there should always be a space for sweet good pop music even for us the music freaks. However, this album just may not be the one you're looking to put in your library, specially because it's really really long with some messy songs. It's somewhat ignorant to consider this album trash just because the singles were bad. Okay, we get it, is not an outstanding pop album. But, if someone had absolutely no idea about the artist they might end up thinking it sounds like a nice debut album (I ... read more

Vicentico - Último Acto
NR

Vicentico is a famous artist from Argentina. The first album I ever got was this one, my sister gifted it to me when I was a kid.
The album exists between crazy genius melodies, latin sound palettes and strings. With some songs using lots of synthetizers. You'll find many traditional ballads with a dramatic touch thanks to the strings, but don't think Vicentico is just a casual singer-songwriter. His lyrics are audacious and his voice sweet and hypnotic. The album's best moments are when ... read more

Katy Perry - Waking Up in Vegas
NR

wait this is actually good... sounds fun, dynamic, catchy and not basic

Kali Uchis - Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞
NR

more versatility and (even) better singing than before, okay?!
As a huge fan of hers and "Isolation" at the first listen I felt something similar as when I listened "When I get home" by Solange. (It's pretty weird, I know) but "A seat at the table" and "Isolation" were albums so good that people we were waiting for follow-up with high expectations. The production is a bit more quiet and we have a few new popular influences as reggaeton and trap. I don't ... read more

Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure?
NR

This is like the bible of falling in love, of love... It really hits different when you are loving someone.
To ask what's someones pleasure, you give love and he gives you back, he picks you up in his car, he treats you right, he controls your soul and emotions, just.... listen to every detail in the lyrics. It's love guys
It's melodies are infectious and everything in here is so catchy, damn, I really enjoy every single sound, melody about this.

holy shit

Perfume Genius - Set My Heart On Fire Immediately
NR

This is just as epic, haunting and unique as it is.
I think this record Mike, Alan and Blake Mills put together it's one of a kind. Musically is very ambitious, lyrically it's captivating and the production is intensely beautiful. I can't find a mistake, a bad idea, lyric, instrument.
Just listen and pay attention, you'll see. As a Perfume Genius fan, this is all I wanted. Mike it's innovating and evolving, this album is him at his best. There's no song like "Slip Away" or ... read more

Franz Ferdinand - Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action
NR

I used to listen this, when I was a kid...
This might be boring for some people... at least for me, now that I don't have a dog's ear anymore I see that this album is just an attempt of making the same good music this band was doing when they started out. Some lines are quite cringe and sometimes the musical ideas/song structures are presented as exciting but it ends up pretty boring.

Nothing interesting in here to be honest...
Even if some tracks sound nice, they can't reach a level of ... read more

Blake Mills - Mutable Set
NR

You need to listen to it!
Perfume Genius producer makes a powerful album that’s warm and musically interesting. The instruments are just so satisfying to listen and the album has an evolving sound that is haunting and definitely worth to check out.

edit: I've been listening nonstop and... it's really good. It's impossible to get tired throughout the tracklist, his voice and the way he composes the songs is just beautiful. The album is quiet but it's a highlight by itself. A "World ... read more

I think it is a solid project and an artist with lot of potential, but i think some of the tracks lack of focus and I really hope her next project will be more interesting, because there are some really good songs in here!

Helado Negro - This Is How You Smile
NR

Helado Negro’s breakthrough album Is a quiet and beautiful album, with surrounding pianos, guitars, vocal layers and ethereal/ nostalgic sounds. If you didn’t know, silence is part of the music, and this is one of the interesting highlights that the album carries. Sometimes it gets experimental, sometimes feels raw, sometimes you hear the electronic influence, sometimes he sings in Spanish or in English. He is in full control of his music. And that’s why the result it’s ... read more

KAYTRANADA - 99.9%
NR

KAYTRANADA’s debut album surprised me with his high quality production skills and the way he adds a lot of textures, drums, beats and samples. The first track of the album “TRACK UNO” shows off what KAYTRANADA is capable of: Tropical vibes, textures, great mixing and a peculiar style of production. Sometimes this record goes more hip/hop and sometimes more R&B, funky, atmospheric but bringing heavy beats and cool bass lines. The features are okay, they fit really well in ... read more

Big Thief - Two Hands
NR

The latest album from the Indie Folk/Rock band “Big Thief” It’s raw, powerful, warm, and full of sentiment. Incredibly smart and captivating songwriting from Adrianne, I actually think her voice is one of the most interesting and talented between artists in the Indie Rock scene. In “Two Hands” Big Thief transmits feelings of vulnerability and power. The album's lyrics are focused on intimate thoughts mostly about uncomfortable feelings, which is very well displayed ... read more

Perfume Genius - On The Floor

I was in mike’s livestream and he said that more bops like this one are coming!
Mike’s new album will be his longest one, at 51 minutes. Mike it’s opting for an even brighter direction on this single, counting at 5 minutes which it’s very strange if you are familiar with his music. I am a die hard fan of him, but putting that aside, the music it’s fun(ky) and I found it a bit long, some instrumentals are a bit “weirdly placed” but maybe with time or in ... read more

Frank Ocean - nostalgia,ULTRA.
NR

The vision and concept that Frank portrayed in this mixtape somehow reflects youth, and mostly what we are, consumers. It’s true, we are all consumers of information, entertainment, etc. And most of those things we consume stick with us, I think this is what he wanted to express doing covers of songs he liked, movies, mentioning Radiohead, using many samples from songs he liked ( all the samples used: https://www.whosampled.com/album/Frank-Ocean/Nostalgia,-Ultra./ ) . Me as a young teen, ... read more

Christine and the Queens - La vita nuova

The fact that now I listen to a banger in Italian, and that my parents ask me why I am singing ‘’MAAUNTAINS N MAAAAUNTENS N MAAAUNTENS N MAAUNTENS N MAAAUNTES MAAaAAuntensN... WE MEet WE MEet n We MEet n We mEet’’
Made me just a bit happier in life.

So my actual opinion it’s:
I’ve been listening to her since her first album and her sound is definitely evolving in a good way. I really like all the songs in here, with electronic solid production and her voice ... read more

Perfume Genius - Learning
NR

The production it’s cheap, yes. But the lyrics are really powerful, and even if Mike’s vocals are a bit washed out the melodies are vibrant and present. ‘’Write to your Brother’’ it’s one of the most beautiful and cute ballads i’ve ever heard, and songs the first 3 songs of the album really standout for me. It’s a short beautiful start to Mike’s amazing journey as an artist. This album it’s chill, but low-key powerful.

"el problema es que ella en entrevistas promocionando su single habla de "embracing my latin roots" y de lo importante que es lo latino y el español blah blah blah. Si tanto le importara pues creo que lo hubiera hecho ya desde hace mucho tiempo. Aristas de lengua hispana se están volviendo mas internacionales y "reconocidos", y pareciera que ella quiere subirse en ese tren porque tampoco su música es un poco aburrida y no va en ninguna dirección lmao"
