Maroon 5 - JORDI
26

Why does this feel even too boring for the radio? It is honestly impressive how bland this is. This album has no redeeming quality. Even Adam doesn't sound like himself anymore because his voice is so overproduced.

There are a couple things that did catch my attention. 1. 'Echo' is kinda funny bad, I had a good laugh at the echos. 2. 'Seasons' has Adam Levine 'rapping'?! Yes it's bad. 3. Juice on a feature is just really disrespectful.

Maroon 5 - Red Pill Blues
30

Maroon 5 is probably the 2nd most hated band of recent times, right behind Imagine Dragons. I think both don't deserve the amount of hate they're receiving. On this album I do think Maroon 5 is very bland as they mostly are, but there's always a one summer bops on here. It's 'What Lovers Do'. I'm not really sure what SZA is doing there, but it just makes you wanna order a cocktail in the sun.

Lyrically this record has pretty much nothing to offer. For instance a lyric like 'Till she kissed ... read more

Rita Ora - Phoenix
47

I came upon this album and was honestly stunned by the streams it has. I thought I must know these songs then right? And I did.

I feel like quite a lot of (British) female singers have this problem, where their music and their name isn't really connected with one another. Especially in the EDM world. Rita Ora, Becky Hill, Bebe Rexha and Ella Eyre and many more suffer from this problem. It's interesting how almost any decent singer could've been on these tracks and it wouldn't make that much of ... read more

ABBA - Arrival
83

What a band ABBA is. They bring me so much joy and never fail to put a smile on my face. 'Dancing Queen' is probably one of my favorite pop songs of all time. I won't say they made the best music ever, but it is just so fun and honestly still holds up for the most part so pretty timeless. They really knew how to make some party bangers.

I think the singles for this record jump out to me the most: 'Money, Money, Money', 'Dancing Queen', 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' and 'That's Me'. The only single ... read more

The Kid LAROI - F*CK LOVE 3: OVER YOU
62

Probably the best part of this 3 piece. I think lyrically LAROI is the strongest on this record. His voice is still so intriguing to listen to. But on 'OVER YOU' and 'NOT SOBER' he is actually talking as well. Polo G also has a strong verse on 'NOT SOBER'.
'STAY' it was one of the biggest songs of the year. And honestly one of the better mainstream songs that year, in my opinion. I still enjoy it to this day and I think Justin and LAROI bounce off each ... read more

girl in red - I'M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!
55

Girl in red brings us an album about her ex lover and lets us know she’s done with them. It isn’t revolutionary, but somewhat enjoyable. Nothing really jumps out at me, not in a good way nor in a bad way. It’s all just okay.

‘A Night To Remember’ is a bit corny though. Itm/ a song about when she met her girlfriend and how they’re soulmates.

Sometimes she gives me a little bit of Olivia Rodrigo vibes, but with worse vocals and less punk.

Sam Smith - Love Goes
45

Sam Smith seems to be in between 2 different ideas. Writing sad pop songs while simultaneously writing summer bops. I think this is a reachable goal, but this album isn't doing a great job with it. You can see both those ideas shine through, but both on a mediocre level. For me this could work with mediocre/decent songwriting but stellar instrumentals. This album is just boring, it makes for great 'radio/mall music', but I won't be coming back often. Also, the best songs for ... read more

Sam Smith - The Thrill of It All
53

On this album for the first time the Adele influence really shines through to me. I don't know why, but it is made clear in the pronunciation of certain phrases. I feel a slight improvement in the overall record in comparison to 'In The Lonely Hour' but this album doesn't have the same highlights that the debut album does have.

I think the choir on 'Too Good At Goodbyes' is cool. I just have the problem that I was so overexposed to this song, that I can't ... read more

Sam Smith - In the Lonely Hour
50

Having listened to this album a lot when I was younger I thought it was time to revisit it, and see if I still enjoy it as much, spoiler I didn't.

I think Sam's voice is really cool and strong and there are certainly good tracks on here like 'Stay With Me'. It is a beautiful piano ballad, but overall the lyrics are just too cliche for me now to take really seriously. I can't grasp the same emotion out of these songs the same way I could when I was younger. I think ... read more

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Exodus
90

After watching a mediocre Bob Marley movie, I had to give this album a listen. It is just so impressive how one man with a great talent can have such an impact on his entire country. I have very little to no knowledge about reggae music, but this album is just overloaded with joy, while your country is such a mess. I just believe that there's no one in the world who had as much fun making music as Bob Marley and The Wailers did. And I think 'Jammin' is the embodiment of that.

I personally ... read more

The album that really put Doja on my radar. I heard 'Say So' by her before, but that was about it. One thing I really like about Doja is her recognizable voice combined with the attitude she brings. That attitude especially shines on songs like 'Woman' and 'Get Into It (Yuh)'.

I feel like she tried so much on this album, some hit but some certainly missed too. A certain miss for me is 'Payday'. Doja sounds alright, but Young Thug what the fuck are you ... read more

Lizzy McAlpine - Older
78

I´m a big sucker for the indie-folk and singer-songwriter genres. That's also why I decided to check this album. I think it is a very decent album, but people have done it better than Lizzy. I think her voice isn't always as emotional as the song might need, but at times it fits perfectly as well. And her voice sometimes lacks a bit of recognizability.

Also I'd like some of the lyrics to be a bit more original at times, especially in the first few songs. Maybe even more metaphorical ... read more

Justin Bieber - Justice
55

EDIT (62 → 55):
Revisiting this album after listening to SWAG made the difference between Pop Justin and R&B Justin really clear. I prefer Justin in his pop lane, but this album still isn’t great. Most of the moments are fine, but not especially memorable. The strong religious undertone doesn’t do much for me, but as an atheist, the lyrics don’t really resonate.

That said, most of what I said in my original review still stands. I will say I overstated the emotional ... read more

Justin Bieber - Changes
23

Wow… this era was really hated, huh? This was an era of Bieber that completely passed me by, aside from 'Yummy', of course. Going into this record, I assumed most of the criticism was aimed at Yummy or maybe the Lil Dicky feature… but no, it’s the whole thing. This is a bad-bad album across the board.

It leans into a trap-R&B sound, a genre I’m already not too fond of, but the beat selection here is especially weak. It’s not catchy, not fun, not ... read more

Maggie Lindemann - Paranoia
69

After the smash hit 'Pretty Girl' Maggie changes her direction of what kind of music she wants to make. And goes for a more punk/rock aesthetic. And this project shows she has a lot of potential in that realm. I do feel there's a big influence from Avril Lavigne in her music, especially on a song like 'Crash and Burn'.

I see everyone is confused about 'GASLIGHT!' but I think it is such a cool track. I think Siickbrain and Maggie work so well together on a song about someone gaslighting you, ... read more

Trippie Redd - genre : sadboy
26

Ye this isn't great. 2 pretty disliked artists in the industry make a collab EP. It is just sad boy rap that isn't really sad nor interesting. I feel like it has been done a 100 times and still they manage to make lowlights on this. I have to say, even though everyone hates MGK more probably, I think he does better on this EP than Trippie. But I guess I've never been a fan of Trippie's autotune groaning.

Also what the hell is JID doing on this record. It is so random, and ... read more

Clairo - Sling

This album is soooo amazing! I have been in love with it since the first time I heard it. Jack Antonoff's production mixed with Clairo's voice is something to be in awe of. I recommend listening to it with your eyes closed (you might fall asleep or shed a tear).

She talks about how she struggles with the changes in her life now that she has the opportunity to really step into the music industry, debating if she should do it and what other changes would come with that. On 'Blouse' she talks ... read more

Just before the new album comes around I thought I'd give my (unpopular) opinion on this album. I personally think it is an interesting stylistic switch for Beyonce to take at this point of her career. But for me it isn't really translating into music I would want to listen to over and over again. And it's a weird one for me, because the production is great, and the sound isn't particularly familiar. Which would usually make for a pretty great, inventive record. But for some ... read more

Dua Lipa - Dua Lipa
58

This album has some highlights, but it is mostly flavorless pop music that doesn't really stand out. Especially knowing what she dropped after this, Future Nostalgia, which has so much more groove, uniqueness and character. I don't think there's a single song on here that'd make it on that album.

Also the attempt with 'sad songs' isn't really something she can pull off on most of these songs on this album. It is so bland and boring. The only song I can give credit for that is 'Homesick', that ... read more

21 Savage - american dream
59

Although some of the songs have nice stories to tell, growing up in dangerous neighborhoods, it is just delivered in such lackluster flow. I know that's just his style but it bores me out of my mind. It just sounds like he didn't wanna be at his own studio sessions. The first song 21 sounds somewhat enthusiastic is ´pop ur shit´ but then you get the most boring hook ever and I'm not a fan of Young Thug's verse either. On ́'letter to my brudda´ 21 sounds sincere for the first ... read more

That's fine, yes there were other issues with that movie that weren't a great look for Sia, but this wasn't the issue lol."
