Kendrick has a very commanding voice, it really compels you to hear what he has to say. On DAMN, he uses this power of his with powerful contemporary instrumentals to make something incredibly engaging.
Only one thing that I would like to have a rant about though... I don't like the ultimate message of "FEAR.":
"The so-called Blacks, Hispanics, and Native American Indians
Are the true children of Israel
We are the Israelites, according to the Bible
The children of ... read more
Production feels very stiff and bland, which was a shame because there could have been character
The aesthetic of this 'childlike' character also just isn't executed very well and combined with the immature and out of touch lyricism, this just comes across as a 13 year old girl's wattpad story, trying to naivrly explore topics they have absolutely ignorance towards. Excusable and sometimes funny from a teenager, but kinda pathetic from a fully grown woman. And in light of ... read more
Digital Pipo Saga 2 is about finding the extremes in the Pipo sound thus far and pushing them as far as their production talent can take it. For instance, the first track 'Yokai Vision' is a call back to the softer liquid sound of 'lowercase' but instead of winding down, the song winds up. With its lush and almost angelic-ethereal piano sections, it's probably the first song Pipotaku has made that is best enjoyed at sunrise rather than midnight.

39 -> 59 -> 70
Still a hot mess of ideas with no cohesive execution but I'm appreciating the individual tracks more now
Don't look at it too hard - it's just a bit of summer fun. Well done Sabrina on establishing yourself as an artist for real this time
Pipotaku experiments like hell here: pushing the moodiness and faint themes of darkness to dangerously edgy territory in this album-length project, with its sampling of screaming, thoraty whispering and a distorted dialogue clip about "inflicting torture". The Amen Break is sample so dissected it begins to transcend the confines of breakcore. Also, the synths are as luscious as ever and are some of my favourite, like, noises I've heard. lol They're just so damn glamorous, I ... read more
The most intricate, moody and truly captivating artist I've heard not just in breakcore, but DNB as a whole - this short project is Pipotaku laying out their manifesto.
Pipotaku, with colleagues, brings forth a project that explores the iconic moody flavour of breakcore they inhabit further by indulging in entrancing loops, nostalgia, sampled vocals and splintering bass lines.
White Valley, in a field with nothing but the stars above you really hits different.
Any grown person who listens to this album with unironic enjoyment probably peaked at thirteen, wears fedoras and says "M'lady~". The lyrics are corny and awkward in a way that only geeky teenage boys trying to be theatrical could be. It's awful, there are no redeeming qualities. Living Room is AJR at its worst - with no self-awareness whatsoever; unapologetically trite and melodramatic, the most annoying and exaggerated samples, melodies and mixes. I have to listen to this ... read more
I came into this knowing I'm not the biggest fan of Travis Scott's style of psychedelic sounding rap but I allowed myself to be pleasantly surprised. It had a very strong and catchy start with songs like "STARGAZING" and "SICKO MODE", but all across the board it just had such interesting beats I love it!
I think after Track 9 my attention dropped off though - it starts getting kinda boring for me. There aren't as many stand out moments or beat switches, for ... read more

And here we all thought dude was a novelty act. Deadass struggling for words, it's such a personal and emotional album, so bravely defying of stereotypes and yet it does it all so casually.
Only real problem with this album is pacing, it swings between being super animated and piercingly sad too much in my opinion. Still, every track is wonderful.
ayo does young buttpiss have the n word pass?
anyways woooww this was horrific - if the whole point of the big climax project is to torture people without entertaining them even slightly then the rest of this guys stuff has failed.
I have been a long time fan of the Lando! project and finally seeing her style shape and mature into a full-length LP is awesome. This is a beautifully cohesive project, every track has a purpose, even "Just ok" even if I find it a little bit annoying. It's a very unique sound with much love for hyper pop/glitchpop, the synth singles of her past as well as lots of new ideas and it's easy to listen to, goes down like honey.
Also yippee personal value, this album came out ... read more
Hell yeah, legitimate improvement!!
The mixing is much clearer, so now the vocals are actually clearer; there is a message to take away from each song.
Not just that, but the instrumentation is much better at portraying the mood of the song and following along with it as it ebbs and flows, meaning that it doesn't just sound like a white noise of pop rock - each track does indeed have stand out features and feelings.
Also, the emotional and lyrical content of this EP is much more ... read more
Holy shit! I am embarrassed to admit it took me this long to ever actually listen to this album, but god damn I love it!
You just get thrown right into it from track 1, it wastes no time in introduction and it throws into you into their world of great insecurity and longing. There's such a unique blend of sounds across so many genres, be it trap, electro-pop, rock -- it makes something so refreshing and innovative. I don't understand how they managed to slip reggae into this record ... read more
This album hit me pretty hard.. I wasn't expecting that at all.
Some personal context: I found potsu in 2020 through a SoundCloud artist that changed my life called "Lando!". Come to think of it, it's kinda diabolical that I haven't posted anything on here about her. Anyways, Lando! used to make lo-fi hiphop/bubblegum bass (?) that had some sweet and simple lyrics or really cute samples - things like that. There was sometimes a teeny weeny jazz influence and throughout ... read more
Love the drums, love hearing Kevin Parker doing more than his classic falsetto. You can just about hear the bones of what will one day become Tame Impala's classic sound.
Okay I was going to be nice to this until wallah it broke my headphones at the end of "Two Masked" wtf?
It's really hard to take this seriously with the album cover being what it is so I don't know what to make of this. One way or another, unless you're like me and you like to listen to shitcore for a laugh, don’t bother.
