My right ear went out listening to this and it took 2 days to recover.

Still the weakest link in the trilogy, but it's a lot better than I thought. It's got some great standouts, like GUMMY, TEETH, JUNKY, and FIGHT, which all are interesting and have consistently solid performances throughout. Then there's some weaker ones like QUEER that have awkward switch ups, and SWEET, where no one really seems to be performing their best.

One of the best hip-hop albums of the year without question. I wayyy underrated it the first time I heard it. I'm glad I came back to this, albeit, 4 months later. The production is stellar. So bright, often being the most interesting part of the sound, not to diss Black Thought tho, who I originally found boring. After coming back to this I realize how entertaining of a rapper he is.
(Edit: 88->92) This is honestly one of my favourites from Swans. It sounds like a prototype to the 2010s trilogy, but with a more manageable, hour length.
One of Swans most consistent albums, very few dull moments. This, from all I've heard, sounds like their REALLY going for that Gothic sound and it also REALLY works for them. For example, the Goth Rock opus of the album, Killing For Company, with a slow, hypnotic first half and a pure psychedelic outro. Easily one of my favourites. The ... read more

Ayo? ...what was I on first listen, this is one of the most consistent albums of the year. Immaculate beats, great delivery, interesting lyrics, all of it. How the fuck did I give this a 67?!
If you're stupid like me and thought this was mid on first listen, PLEASE listen again, this is top 5 of the year.
To the person at the record store that contemplated buying this and then put it down THANK YOU, FUCKING THANK YOU

Yeah, this is good, but it just leaves me somehow wanting more out of an 18 track project. They're definitely evolving in a way that I think COULD work, but for right now, isn't at it's full potential. There are some truly fantastic songs on here like basically all of Chapter 1, Runaway, Over and Over, Another Go Around, Masquerade and....well that's it. 7 Tracks that could've made one spectacular EP, but instead we get a double album with, I admit some good and passable songs, but ... read more

Some things take time, and they are very much worth waiting for. This album is a culmination of my favourite styles put into one. I had heard it to early in my own musical journey. This is a certified masterpiece
Wow what a change of pace
Like holy shit he really changed up his sound quick. There's still those emotional piano ballads, but they aren't taking center stage here. Instead this more experimental, art pop sound is much more prominent. Another good album from Perfume Genius really. I really have been missing out on something great here. Anyways my favourite songs were easily the ones where there's more experimentation happening. I think the first two songs start this perfectly. The first song, ... read more
Goddamn this is beautiful
Despite its lofi nature, less than stellar production, and not knowing what Perfume Genius is saying without looking at the lyrics, I loved this. It's raw and emotional, which make those "cons" I mentioned, turn into pros. Reminds me a lot of early Car Seat stuff, which is the highest praise I can give. He pulls out some fantastic vocal melodies that keep you in this trance like state , along with the hypnotic pianos. Gay Angles is a track in particular that ... read more
No mom, YOU warm up my pizza rolls. It's not my fault they're cold, I was listening to P!ATD and couldn't hear you.
Ants from Queen Hall place
I'm rating this based ENTIRLEY off the live performances. These songs in this live environment go the fuck off, and on top of that I think almost every song is better than it's studio version. The two exceptions to that in my opinion is Instrumental and Bread Song. Like many songs off FTFT they change it up a bit, but the drums were distractingly loud, and took my out of it the whole time. Basically the only problem of this song was that it just sounded quiet and ... read more
I don't quite get this album. It's the same Jack White that we get in Fear of the Dawn, but all the ideas just seem restricted. I just always felt like if a little bit more was done, I'd really love this. Maybe further listens will help, as they did with his most recent project.
His last project intrigued me so much, I wanna go through his, and The White Stripes discography.
Edit: (72->75) After 3 listens I'm understanding this project a lot more. Jack White kinda delivers albums the same ... read more
