black midi - Schlagenheim

R.I.P Matt, this album and Nonagon Infinity changed how I saw rock music forever, I can't thank this band enough for that

Converge - All We Love We Leave Behind
80

Converge has a very distinct and recognizable style that shines through in everything I've heard them make. Not as good as Jane Doe for me, I love how unseasonably raw that album is, but this album has a whole bunch of sounds and nuances that Jane Doe. Then again, maybe nuance isn't a great term for an album this head-splittingly aggressive.

おとぼけビ~バ~ [Otoboke Beaver] - スーパーチャンポン [SUPER CHAMPON]

somehow even MORE energizing and manic than Itekoma Hits. the increase in intensity honestly makes the album a bit stale sometimes but like... its hard to complain when the songs are this quick and this creative

おとぼけビ~バ~ [Otoboke Beaver] - いてこまヒッツ [ITEKOMA HITS]

this entire 14 song album is shorter than Bring the Sun / Toussaint L'Ouverture

Behemoth - The Satanist

@ezkaton2000 thanks for recommending this! I'll try to get to your other recommendations soon too.
this was my first real dive into anything black metal related, and I really liked it! there was amazing death metal slug-fests all over this thing, but the use of horns and choirs with more focus on atmosphere made this album a lot less one-dimensional, and created my favorite moments on the album. great production, great drumming, AMAZING riffs, just a very solid metal album!

Madvillain - Madvillainy

this is one of the first albums I listened to when I made this account, how did I never rate this? Oh well, one of my favorite albums of all time. Even in a discog as stacked as DOOM's, it has its own very dark yet playful sound that no album I've ever heard has properly emulated. Also, this was one of the first albums I ever bought on cd, which makes me love this album even more.

Björk - Post

Normal art pop album? WRONG!!!!!!!! GERMAN BIG BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Björk - Homogenic
90

Super beautiful. The album is filled with incredible string arrangements parred with these primitive electronic beats, all while Bjork shows how fucking talented she is as a vocalist. My only issue is that many tracks (at least on second listen) weren't super memorable, but still extremely enjoyable when they were playing.

Prostitute - Attempted Martyr
100

SHE MAKES IT ALL SHE MAKES IT ALL DISAPPEAR!!!!!!!!
Edit: One of the best noise rock albums I've ever heard. The music is so raw and hellish, each song just fills your head. Thats the only way I can describe it.

Chat Pile - God’s Country
90

Holy shit that closer is genuinely mortifying. I know this and Cool World are considered very similar, but I feel like Cool World was less deranged and sinister than this. Super impressive debut

Chat Pile - Cool World

Cool sludge metal shenanigans. Masc is genuinely amazing
EDIT: Severely underrated when I first listened, this album is extremely good and has some of my favorite songs in noise-rock as a whole.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Infest the Rats' Nest
80

fuck ai, fuck spotify, fuck all of this stupid bullshit

Gojira - From Mars to Sirius
90

Two decades later and it still sounds fresh, insane performances that have held up super well.

Candy Claws - Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time
75

+75 points for the funny seal on the album cover :)

Have a Nice Life - The Unnatural World

Amazing sequel to deathconsciousness. Trades that albums patience with more biting, direct songs that still sound just as despondent and deafening as their other music. Dan and Tim are 3 for 3 with albums I love to death.

Giles Corey - Giles Corey

Devastating. This album is fucking devastating. The writing is a perfect representation of depression, the atmosphere is dense as hell, and the production is lo-fi to the point it feels like i'm listening to it on a busted up cassette. I need to listen to Dan Barretts other music soon, because this isn't even the highest rated project he's worked on.

Sigur Rós - Ágætis byrjun
82

this album + walk through snow + hot chocolate = pure bliss

Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy
79

Some of Aphex Twins best songs but also Funny Little Man is on here so maybe this is actually the worst ep of all time
