We’re still paying attention to T.I. after that creepy hymen-checking he proudly stated he did to his daughter to see if she was still a virgin? Ighttttttt
Well I decided to check this out because of the insane amount of features which looked VERY promising. I mean, you got Benny the Butcher, Conway the Machine, Rapsody, Young Thug, Killer Mike, Snoop Dogg, 21 Savage and more on here. Those features alone intrigued me. But past those features, what we got is one of the most bloated, ... read more
This album leaves me Impressed and intrigued, but not as in love with it as I had hoped.
I do really like this album and it’s personality, but it can be a little boring at times. The production is interesting but not fantastic, and while I appreciate the way he shifts from funny to sad, I think this album just feels a little empty. I do really appreciate the vulnerability of this album, his solid performances, and the introspection, which all help make this album one that I like, even if ... read more
I was really excited for this album, as Black Thought has had some great verses lately and the single with Pusha T and Killer Mike is one of my favorite songs of the year. And while it is very very good, I am a little underwhelmed as it had the potential to be near perfect.
Despite the flaws of this project, Black Thought shows why he’s one of the greatest rappers ever. The production is solid, but rarely does it blow me away on here. Black Thought makes up for whatever shortcomings are ... read more
Not really sure how I feel about this one.
I’d only heard Assume Form before listening to this, but that was one of my favorite albums of 2019. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but it definitely wasn’t this.
Even though it is only 4 songs, a lot is going on and there is a lot to unpack. There are moments I really like, and some I don’t feel as much. The glitchy house style of production isn’t my favorite, but I think it’s pretty good for what it is. ... read more
I mean it’s a pretty standard Lana song but not bad at all.
That cover art tho..
I mean it had a lot of potential but that chorus is laughable.
What the fuck?
Griselda has been over-saturating the market lately. If the projects start to dip in quality, it could become an issue where people aren’t excited for a new Griselda release. But, if they’re as good as this or the new Conway album, they don’t have anything to worry about. Quality > quantity
I was excited for this record because I have loved Benny’s features lately and Hit-boy has been killing it on production this year. And they both continue their hot streak on ... read more
The production is fantastic, but the performances from Benny, Wayne, and Sean just leave me a little underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong: I really like the song, but it just feels like a huge missed opportunity. With a beat like this, this could have been one of the best songs of the year.
The combination of Elton John's great vocals and 6LACK's sleepy autotuned vocals is weird, but it just works. The synth-heavy production is great as well. It's a little awkward at first, but it's growing on me.
I had heard of Chika, but had not heard any of her music up until her appearance on the XXL Freshman list, on which I thought she was one of the best. I went into this expecting a solid project, and for the most part it is.
This project isn’t great, but it’s a incredibly solid debut. Her sound gives me Chance vibes, and I love the production. She has a lot of talent and personality, and her technical ability is clear. Some of her influences are worn a little too much on her ... read more
It feels like an unfinished demo, but the beat is hard and the hook is pretty good too. Wish it was fleshed out a little more, but as is I like it.
This instrumental is phenomenal. The sample is great and the hook is catchy and cutthroat. One of the best cuts off SM2
It’s not bad, but it’s so generic and there’s just not really anything here. I do kinda like the instrumental and the hook though.
I gave this a chance, and while it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever heard, it’s soooooo boring. You’d think they could get some more interesting production and songwriting, but apparently not. Also, who the fuck approved these cringey ass lyrics? There are two or three songs I think are actually decent, but the rest is just not good. I’m glad people enjoy this, but I’m just not seeing it.
Fav Tracks: Lovesick Girls, Love To Hate Me
Least Fav Tracks: Bet You ... read more
I unironically love this.
Between his unique ass vocals, the dark and menacing beat, and the hilarious lyrics, I can’t stop listening to this. Absolute slapper.
AYY MAN WHERE THE FUCK IS MARIO JUDAH???
From what I had heard from Reason in the past I wasn’t too impressed, so my expectations weren’t that high. And while most of the reasons (pun intended) I like this album have nothing to do with him, I think Reason does show some potential on here.
New Beginnings is a pretty standard rap album for the most part, but when this thing is good it’s REALLY good. There are some great highlights, and the features are generally really good. My main issue with this album is Reason. He ... read more
Oh look, another white rapper using hip-hop as a stepping stone to make generic pop rock! I guess Russ’s punk album is gonna be next.
In all seriousness, I expected to hate this. But after the first 30 seconds of the first song, I actually thought it wasn’t that bad. I thought maybe I’d be the rare person to enjoy this.
And fuck it. I do.
I completely understand why people hate this. Everything in me wants to hate this. But I can’t. There is nothing outright horrible ... read more
Thank you Kenny Beats for making this somewhat decent. The beat is awesome.
Fivio and Polo on the other hand....
THIS is what a remix should be.
They took one of my favorite melodic trap songs of the year, took off the two weak verses, and added possibly my favorite melodic trap artist currently in Roddy Ricch. Both him and Don Toliver body this. Don’s verse is a little underwhelming, but I would much rather hear it than a NAV verse
