I get X’s estate wants money, and I get his fans will love anything they put out, but cmon this is not good. There’s a reason why we never heard most of these while X was alive, and it’s because they’re not good. They’re unfinished, badly mixed, and the shitty features stuck on don’t work. Some of these ideas could have been decent if they were finished, but as they’re presented on this, most of them are just bad. I don’t have an issue with his ... read more
After seeing some negative reviews of this album, I decided not to listen. But holy shit I like this.
Hot Pink is an incredibly catchy pop/rap album. From the pop tracks to the more rap tracks, Doja Cat comes through with great flows and melodies. The production is amazing and I love the versatility and variety of Doja on this album. Her resemblance to Nicki Minaj is scary at points, but I love it. Some of her flows and cadences remind me of Kendrick too. Overall, I liked this album way more ... read more
I've never disliked a 21 Savage project. Maybe that's why I'm not as surprised and excited about this project as others are. It's definitely pretty good, and there is definite growth and maturity, but I'm not loving this as much as other people seem to. The production is great, and 21 Savage comes through with his signature cold delivery and flows, but it isn't blowing me away as I expected it to. The features are pretty good too. While there are a lot of great elements and many highlights, ... read more
Offset is probably my favorite of the Migos, and he dropped the best solo project out of all of them. Even if it’s the best of the 3, this project has more mediocre or ok songs than it does highlights. The production is very good throughout, but Offset is very one dimensional and listening to an entire project of just him gets old quickly. Regardless, this album does have some good highlights.

Trippie Redd has some decent projects, but he has many more mediocre projects. He puts out way too much music and barely any of it is good anymore. His quality has gone downhill in the last year or so and I probably wouldn’t have listened to this if not for the the stellar “Death” with DaBaby and the pretty good “Love Me More”. I was hopeful, but this album ends up not being very much. It is more listenable that his last few projects, but that isn’t saying ... read more
While not as experimental and unique as the Pharrell produced Sweetener, this album is still a quality album. It does feel a little rushed, and some songs are a little too generic, but Ariana Grande manages to overcome this with
her most emotionally charged album. There are many highlights on this album, and the production throughout is outstanding. The songwriting can feel lazy or half-baked at times, but she makes up for it with stellar vocal performances. It isn’t the most unique or ... read more
I like Khalid personally, but I wish I liked his music more. American Teen was a decent record with some amazing highlights, but also some generic and boring ones. I was hoping his next album would show some evolution and take more risks. Unfortunately, Free Spirit is more of the same. While this isn’t always a bad thing, it is certainly disappointing. Most of these songs don’t stand out and blend together after a while. Yes there are some highlights, but this album just ends up ... read more
I’ve always understood the NAV hate, but I’ve always secretly enjoyed some of his music though. I never really saw why he was so much worse than the other generic trap artists. Normally, his production is good, and at his best he can come through with some decent and catchy hooks. But with this album, I see how most people normally view NAV. While the production isn’t terrible, it doesn’t really stand out and NAV is so boring on this album. While I don’t think ... read more
We Love You Tecca has nothing interesting. The production is pretty generic, Tecca doesn’t do much, and he is always off beat (and not even in the Blueface funny way). Also why does he sound like A Boogie, who ripped off Dej Loaf? This was clearly a money grab by the label to strike while the irons hot. This sounds like they took 17 random songs he made in a day and just put them together. There are a few interesting songs, but overall this is incredibly boring.

I really liked Northsbest. I loved the catchy production and hooks, and Lil Mosey’s ability to craft these catchy melodies and flows was impressive. But Certified Hitmaker is painfully generic and boring. There are some ok songs, but nothing on here is as good as the songs on his last album. The production is more generic and the features are mostly boring. Lil Mosey doesn’t do much that is interesting on this album either. While nothing on here is terrible, it just fades into the ... read more
Edit (3/22/23):
This album definitely grew on me over the last few years, and revisiting it after not hearing it for a year or two makes me appreciate it even more.
Original review:
This is a strange album for me. While there are many songs I like, there are many that feel unnecessary and don’t do anything for me. For me, this makes it an incredibly hard album to listen to all the way through. Regardless, this album’s production is impressive and Peggy’s ability to craft ... read more
This had potential, and the production is decent, but it all blends together at a certain point. I can’t remember what any of the songs sound like a minute after the song is over. They’re fun while they’re on, and I think NLE Choppa does a good job at having an energetic presence, but I just don’t think he does much more than that on this project.

I’m a little shocked I liked this. I think I expected something more poppy, or something trying to be something it wasn’t, but this album was impressive. The songwriting is pretty good, and the album comes off as surprisingly mature. Overall, Fine Line is one of the more shocking listening of the year for me in a good way.

Ginger is not their best album, but it is different and can be very enjoyable. The highlights on this album are among their best songs ever. But while I do enjoy many songs on here, I think this ends up being their least interesting album. It struggles to find an identity, and the track list is incredibly strange. While I think some members like Matt Champion have standout performances, some like Kevin fade into the background and don’t really have any standout moments. Regardless, it is ... read more
This was the first project I ever heard from The Weeknd. While poppier that his previous albums, this album still keeps the dark themes and tones and takes some risks.

If this album was the 10 best songs, this would be an 8/10. I love the first half of the album. The first half has great production with catchy hooks and melodies. He also has some cool aggressive rap songs in the first half too. But the second half makes the album incredibly drawn out and bloated. The production is still decent but not as good, and the catchiness and memorability basically disappears. I also wish there were more features. Overall, the album is still decent, but I just wish ... read more
The album started off strong, but faded towards the end. Production was pretty good throughout, and the project had potential, but the songs eventually started to blend together and become bland and generic as it kept going on. Still a decent album, just a little basic.

Juice WRLD was one of the better melodic, emo trap artists in my opinion. He picked some really good beats and he had a good sense of melody and was able to carry a song. Yes, the lyrics are incredibly immature and ridiculous, and his voice can be annoying and the mixes aren’t perfect, but this album showed a lot of promise and had some really good songs on it.
