For so many artists its all downhill from their debut, but fortunately for us this was probably the absolute lowest point in their career yet it was acceptable enough to get the kickstart this band needed to be the greatness it is today.
As someone who has looked into this band with not much of a nostalgic lens or personal attachment to a certain era of their work, it is such a marvel looking at their progression through over twenty years of active music making. In Rainbows, the latest piece of the "big three" many consider to be Radiohead's most excellent and superb records happens to be a blend of the other two, being Kid A and OK Computer, finding the grey area from computerized, electronic music and forward ... read more
With a collection of 4-5 singles released for the album, for me jt was safe to predict that there was going to be an ongoing argument Billie’s singing voice and the instrumentals she does so over. What was going to save this album from being pretty good to just outright aggravating was whether the or not the production was going to stay consistent, which I was more worried than not about. Either that, or somehow, Billie Eillish was going to somehow break into an amazing array of vocals ... read more
Its crazy how long Radiohead has just got it
Its a very personal album for the group and is consistently admirable, from its opening to incredible outro
yess... peggy and sophie on this too? oh my goodness
edit 6/25/2019: score changed from 85 to 75
Prediction: Culture 3 is going to be basically the fall off of Migos, like people basically gave up on their music and only really cover their media appearances, but its probably going to be like an actually solid record like maybe even some experimental stuff. Idek but from that offset interview, basically pronouncing brag rap as "dead" we could see some of their most interesting work whilst being some of their worst selling
I feel like this guy has a REDICULOUSLY specific audience
That kenny beats track tho
Yeah, I’m getting more and more tired of this formulaic style of trap (for those who understand the technicallity, I’m refering to these hat/snare rythms and 808 used in it)
Schoolboy Q actually surpassed this beat by a lot
the 6ix9ine like opener “TWO DOOR COUPE, HOPPIN’ OUT LIKE JACK IN THE BOX [n word]” is hard
the verses are hard with the spacy cowboy like melody
super spicy track on Groovy Q’s part
This record.... the stroytelling, grand beats, well-written narrative and flow
Its an underground record that is immaculately larger than the size of its parts
edit 5/29/2019: score dropped from a 70 to a 59
Many of my favorite hip-hop acts have been some of the most cartoonish, exaggerated, and extreme voices adverse the more down to earth artists. In terms of a rap delivery alone, the voice that carrys the flows, lyrics, and emotion, artists such as JPEGMAFIA, Sheck Wes, Kendrick Lamar, Drake (Yes, even Drake), and of course, Danny Brown out of this generation have caught my attention with their knack for reaching different registers, deep to high, loud to quiet, mad to happy, borderline singing ... read more
Radiohead may not be the most well written group or have the best vocals, but when everything comes together with the layers of electronic music, jazz, rock, and different filters and glitchy turn-table like transitions... The unorthodox drum patterns, often times trading acoustic drum kits for computerized synth drums.... Using unfamiliar synthetic melodies like on the backdrop of How to Disappear completely and overwhelming the flow of Idioteque... The masterful blend of Thom Yorke’s ... read more
I actually like some of Juice Wrld’s writing and his “singing” voice. Its so over the top and corny that it comes out pretty enjoyable.
This album is 22 songs
Ok, its not good, but I don't think its like the worst song ever. Its just so generic and unnecessary that I don't even think it really is a song, its just kind of like a bad comedy act.
