Yes this is what I want out of trap music during this time. Its catchy, earwormy, and heavy with the bass, but at the same time, its adventurous and consistently off the wall. Rico Nasty is a talented rapper and comes from a very unique character, very aggressive and bragadocious with a lot of attitude. At only 19 minutes, its a tight set of tracks that bangs start to finish
so groovy
the superb sampling, vocal splices, and song flow.
start to finish, its consistently ellaborate and layered, pleasing to the ears... It makes great background and study music as well as something to give thought to, observing the different styles and clever song structure. Its definitely a producers album for the producers, cause as someone who produces in his freetime, I find this such a fun project to pick apart. Its really awe-inspiring and unique, super indefinite genre ... read more
I don't know what a good Jaden Smith record would sound like. Not just good like what would a record be a 8+/10 record by Jaden Smith. A record by Jaden Smith that is very Jaden Smith but good.
Jaden Smith has taken great advantage of his access to something grade production and has at least delivered sonically quality music here and there, but the drowing of influence and often times cringeworthy writing makes his music overall fall flat.
Because of who Jaden aspires to be and the crowd he ... read more
It's very hard to put a compilation on such a high pedestal, but this performance and renderance of her greatest hits is absolutely spectacular. At 40 songs, each track, interlude, monologue, and regal moment is utterly awe-inspiring. The live setting of the whole project doesn't take anything from it, in fact, maybe makes it even better, an in-the-moment experience. Spectacular sight to behold this iconic performance was, and the sound that it carried was incredible.
Also very content with ... read more
The repeat single was super energetic and hard, despite its fairly mediocre rap performance...
This project could’vr easily been carried by hard beats as such and a fair cadence from purp, but the whole rest of this record sounds like a fall off to me.
Starting off with the cover alone, its not the most exiciting and a-list cover art, it looks like something a DIY soundcloud rapper would’ve used during his 1,000 follower come up
The actual music is super bland
Repeat really ... read more
the rap style is kinda basic and the flows are rinse and repeat, but this beat is so hard
I’m going to split this review of the album as if it was a four “song” project, like the genius lyric page suggests, even though the I-tunes page has it collectivized into one track and different versions of it having two...
Ever since my review of MTI, I have since listened to it consistently on and off depending on my mood or music craving. The project is a consistent collection of experimental-trap bangers loaded with funny lines and endless cockiness. At the same time, I ... read more
This is about to be the most bipolar rating distribution this site has ever seen.
Deadmau5 was one of the first artists I started “following.” I would keep up with releases and liked pretty much every single song he released. I was also in 4th-5th grade, but nonetheless, him along with some other artists such as MIA and Kanye West in my father’s playlist was what I listened to. I was awed by his character, live performances, and of course, his music... 9 years later, with more music knowledge under my belt, this record, mostly due to nostalgia, still feels ... read more
The 1980s was a really wierd time for hip-hop, as you would expect because it just became a thing. This record is one of the first really concious and important hip-ho records, as for the first time (pretty much), the platform was being used to make a huge message about the black community. The beats on this record are also pretty inovative, using super glitchy and choppy samples and sounds to create a sound that was most popularized during the “golden era” of rap. Its really hard ... read more
Their most underrated album. Not the hottest take, sure.... But what if I told you this album was their most ahead of its time as well? Its conceptually some of their most outlandish and forward thinking content. Sure, this album has some flaws, especially comparing it to the opus released just a year before it and considering how this is like an extension of the ideas presented on it, and sure this record doesn’t have as much thematics and superb writting as their last two projects, but ... read more
Phenomenal set of tracks from who is (probably) Brockhampton's most diverse asset. Its a shame that he went so incognito through Iridescence, an album I still enjoyed a lot. I don't know where this is going or what he is planning, but I am content with these three songs and I am hoping to see another LP from him soon, especially with an obvious upgrade in the production level.
You kinda get into a vibe, like maybe listen to 40 Travis Scott songs before this one, and you zone out a bit. Going straight into the chorus, or just randomly playing this song for the sake of understanding what’s wrong with it, the annoying little aspects of this thing jumps out bad. Now I at least had a bit of admiration for numb numb juice because of Q’s gritty delivery, but even that track was fairly basic. This one is basic but also kind of annoying and nothing is being said. ... read more
Looking back on this, there wasn’t a single dull momment on this tape
Previously, Quelle Chris has not bene able to keep my attention for long, but tracks like Guns, Mind Ya Bidness, and Obamacare have me coming back to this record
With all of the really good tracks JPEGMAFIA has released since Veteran, this isn't necessarily one of my favorites but it is a neat addition. Personally, I found Eyas' vocals over this melody the ebst part of it overall, very ethereal and elegant. Conceptually, the beat has ties to tracks like Does This Ski Mask Make Me Look Fat and I Cannot F***ing Wait Until Morissey dies with this super glistening video game-like melody. JPEGMAFIA's verses are pretty similar to some of the material off of ... read more
