Lots of good ideas and some of the songs are really good but a decent amount of tracks tend to continentally go into random ideas instead of developing them out fully. Also some of the sonics on this album feel a tad bit too polished? Overall probably my least favorite of the DJESSE series.
Hopefully now that the DJESSE project is done, he works on something with a bit more focus.
this album is what keeps me interested in this band through their highs and lows.
Quongle.
Good album, thought that featuring Dignan on every song was an interesting choice but it worked out.
[edit:] just wanted to emphasize that this album is absolutely brilliant and gutwrenching and gorgeous and definitely gonna be my fav thing this year unless vanisher is somehow better
I’ve been a casual Yeat fan for a while now but this is the first project I thought was fantastic front to back.
Much of the musical styles he typically works with are swapped for big movie grade sci fi industrial hip hop. And while his bars aren’t exactly mind blowing, they do seem to be a step above the tier he typically raps at.
Overall a super interesting growth and I can’t wait to see what he does next.
Also he has Childish Gambino doing background vocals on one ... read more
This debut project from Producer/Artist Ramzoid features a lot of solid woozy production much indebted to modern trap sonics, part opium rage and a heavy dose of Drain Gang. He generally does a good job of making these sounds his own, however on a couple tracks (namely BOOHOO) sometimes the aesthetics wear a little thin.
It’s not perfect but as someone who’s pretty much hated his music up until this point, there’s actually a decent amount to like here.
He switches things up a decent degree, and while a couple of the guitar driven cuts are a bit ear grating, even then most are fairly listenable.
Given how young he was when he started and how young he still is, I would argue it’s only up from here. Clearly, while still finding his footing, there is tons of artistic potential here and ... read more
Really odd that we live in an era where in the same year a OG Pink Floyd member re-records a classic album, and Lil Yachty makes a Pink Floyd inspired album, and the Lil Yachty one is infinitely better.
But overall this isn’t awful per say, but at every corner you find yourself remembering how much better the original is
Top 10 song all time, can’t believe he got Elton on the track
There’s something to be said about the fact that there’s a 7 minute track on here about getting head that also seems to sample an unreleased Kanye West song
Surprised to see so many negative reviews. To me it seems like a lot of people critiquing this album either wanted a different musical style from him, or aren’t familiar with the genres he’s covering here.
Everything sounds very well executed to me. Lots of rock aesthetics, elements ranging from the 90s to even 80s.
Teezo’s ability to switch from very smooth vocals to rough to zany really helps keep a dynamic energy to them.
Idk man I’ll be revisiting it but I ... read more
This album feels like raw emotion in a very unfiltered and alive way… and that’s the best description I can really give without playing you music from it
It’s not reinventing the wheel and sure it treads a lot of the same ground that many bedroom pop artists are… but a lot of the execution is a step above his contemporaries in term of memorability.
While many moments are far from perfect and perhaps a little less vocal manipulation and a tighter tracklist could’ve benefited a lot of this record, it’s still worth a listen.
This album feels like it took every bit of that 5 year wait to put together, whether from the dark moody sonic direction (that feels a bit more raw but also tight compared to the heavily electronic trap of Astroworld) or the frantic bars of Travis and company
Full of lush and punchy production, gorgeous vocal performances and fantastic songwriting, NEVER ENOUGH is an absolutely fantastic listen front to back.
