Revisiting Placebo: Pt. 1
Excuse me, I apologize, but I didn't listen to H.K. Farewell. I usually don't listen to hidden tracks and I don't care about this song.
I've always thought Placebo is more a band of great songs, than a band of good albums. Often the songs aren't really connected. I hope this revisit will change my mind.
Now, about the album. The lyrics on here are mostly weird, but not on the songs like 36 Degrees or I Know. I Know, actually, was my least favorite after my first ... read more
Revisiting Metallica: Pt. 1
Tomorrow this album is 40 years. It's very ahead of its time and one of the most influential records in Rock and metal history. But, do we really have to care about it 40 years after? Not really.
Nowadays, it's still fun to listen to. The vocals sound bad, but not annoying. It's easy to get used to. The songs often sound and feel the same, also a lot of times they're a little dragged out (No Remorse, The Four Horsemen etc.) . The best songs on here are the shorter ... read more
Revisiting Twenty One Pilots: Pt. 3
Twenty one Pilots have lost a lot of good things on this album. They've lost the explosiveness of the first project and the uniqueness of Vessel.
Before this listen I had a heart on every song of this album. And it's painful to remove them because your mind tells you that this song is kinda mid, while your heart tells you "It's a good song, you loved it when you were 11". And that's why, though most of the songs are just generic indie pop, they ... read more
Revisiting Twenty One Pilots: Pt. 2
First things first, I skipped Regional at best, cause everyone hates it (including me), it's not on Spotify (which means it has no replayability for me), and half of it is on here.
One of Tyler's main specialties as a vocalist is when he repeats the same phrase over and over but with more emotions. Here he brought it to the point when he does it in almost every song. And I really like it.
In comparison with the self-titled album this one feels more ... read more
Revisiting Twenty One Pilots: Pt. 1
I have so many nostalgic memories about almost every song on this album. I know on heart most of the rap parts here. But if I'm throwing these feelings away, the album is still good. It's definitely overhated.
Tyler is a very interesting lyricist, the lyrics on every song of this album are amazing and worth diving into. That's why some of the worst songs on here, like The Pantaloon, are still enjoyable.
I don't understand how someone could hate an album ... read more
Revisiting System of a Down: Pt. 5
Comparing it to Mezmerize, everyone, I mean EVERYONE says it's a downgrade. I think it's an improvement. It may not have as good riffs as Meznerize has, but it hits much harder emotionally. Also, mezmerize didn't have a perfect song that deserves a 100, when this album has at least 3 perfect songs (Tentative, Lonely Day, Soldier Side).
Tentative is a very dramatic song. The chorus is amazing, and when after it he sings "Where do you expect us to go ... read more
Revisiting System of a Down: Pt. 4
The first thing I don't understand is, what is this ugly cover? The first 3 album covers were amazing, and this album both looks bad and doesn't make any point.
The songs on it are still very good, though. B.Y.O.B is iconic, This Cocaine... has one of the best SOAD riffs. And Lost in Hollywood is a very good closing point.
It has some weaker songs like Violent Pornography or Old School Hollywood, but even the worst songs on here are enjoyable and hooky.
Revisiting System of a Down: Pt. 3
This album is much less ambitious than the band's previous projects. It doesn't have a perfect song.
The thing that is cool about the album is how much they put in a 2-minute song. Like, I'm a fan of Tool, they literally can have a 7-minute interlude.
This is a bunch of songs, but the songs are very good, so I enjoy them despite not being connected.
Revisiting Rammstein: Pt.1
This album is basically a bunch of very good but similar songs that aren't connected to each other. Kinda like Deftones' Adrenaline without Fireal.
Weisses Fleich, Heirate Mich, and Rammstein have both very good and disturbing lyrics. But Till has yet to show us his songwriting talent on the next albums, as much as his vocal abilities.
Overall, this album slaps.
Revisiting System of a Down: Pt. 1
I thought I needed a break from Swans and would revisit more of my favorite bands.
This album is very good. Every song on here is good. But I've listened to it so many times that now I just don't enjoy it that much. This 90 is based on previous listens too.
Still, it's a great record and one of the strongest debuts I've ever heard.
Revisiting Tool: Pt. 5
I love the concept of this album. I love how every song and interlude is in its right place. I love the fact that you can listen to it backwards. I love the references to some of the songs from previous albums. Basically, I love everything about this album except the music.
The music is somewhere between decent and good. The production is amazing. Some of the songs are overrated, and some are overhated.
For example, the interludes are kinda good. I don't understand ... read more
Revisiting Tool: Pt. 4
First things first, should we just ignore Viginti Tres? It ruins the end. I like most of the jokes Tool makes, but this is too much.
Now, about the important things. This is one of the albums I just enjoy. It has more weak moments than the previous projects. But I can forgive everything for, probably the best Tool song ever, Rosetta Stoned. I love everything about it. Also, Lost Keys is the best interlude possible.
In comparison to previous albums, it loses to ... read more
Revisiting Tool: Pt. 3
3 steps to understand Lateralus:
1. Get some good headphones
2. Go on a walk
3. Be patieeeeent
It really rewards you for being patient.
First things first, the interludes are very good. In the previous album, they were just funny and trolling us. But now they just make the songs better. Eon Blue Apocalypse makes The Patient better, Mantra makes Schism better, and Parabol makes Parabola better.
Although, the best song on the album is, the title track, Lateralus. ... read more
Revisiting Tool: Pt. 2
This album shows us that Tool is something more than just a band with its interludes, which I'm a big fan of. In fact, the first Tool song I heard was Die Eier Von Satan. There are some good interludes here (Intermission, Useful Idiot...) and some bad ones (Ions is boring).
The first three songs are amazing, and every one of them is good in its own way. Stinkfist is an amazing storytelling. Eulogy shows how every second of an 8-minute song can be entertaining. And H. ... read more
Revisiting Tool: Pt. 1
I'm excited to start with such an interesting album. First of all, I'm a try-hard and I've listened to Disgustipated front to back. And, kinda enjoyed it.
The first half of the album is amazing. Though, I don't get the point of those weird noises at the start of Intolerance, Prison Sex, and Crawl Away.
After Swamp Song, the quality of the songs kinda goes down.
I've hated Flood on previous listens, now I understand it but I still think it should be ... read more
Revisiting Deftones: Pt. 9
The first thing I have to say is that the transitions are amazing. The second thing is that I thought this album will also be without 10/10 songs. But that was before I heard Radiant City. This song is God tier, and by far the best on the project.
The album though, is still one of the worst if not the worst in the discography. I don't get the long songs in the middle. Both The Spell of Mathematics and Pompeji just last too long and are too boring.
This Link is ... read more
Revisiting Deftones: Pt. 8
If Deftones is the "Radiohead of metal," then this album is The King of Limbs. But, there's a much more disappointing fact; this album is the first in Deftones' discography that doesn't have a 10/10 song. There are also a lot of songs that you should concentrate on to enjoy. The atmosphere of previous projects didn't allow you to fall out of it.
I like Deftones for being experimental, but here they're trying too hard to make the songs sound unusual.
Revisiting Deftones: Pt.7
It's 4 am. in Israel now, and instead of sleeping, I'm writing this review. What can IIIII say? I think the album's good.
The first half of the album is amazing.
I like Leathers for that second when Chino starts screaming and you have a heart attack.
Entombed is genius. It has such a nice chorus and an even better bridge.
I hate to give Rosemary a 60, but I just don't get it. The transition to Goon Squad is amazing though.
What Happened to You? is a good ending ... read more
Revisiting Deftones: Pt. 6
This album is even more upbeat than Saturday Night Wrist. Even when Chino talks about the coma of his close friend and former Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, he still doesn't do it sad way. 7 years ago he screamed his soul off about some relationship issues, now I feel like he did grow up a lot.
While revisiting Deftones' discography, I started to appreciate the songs at the end more. Fireal, Pink maggit etc. 976-Evil is now also on this list.
This album is very ... read more
Revisiting Deftones: Pt. 5
First things first, I've listened to the version with Drive. I know it's a cover, but it still feels like a much better ending point than Rivière.
Now, about the album. Most of the songs are beautiful and unique, but it has at least 3 unnecessary tracks. Pink cellphone, U,u,d... and Rivière. I still can't explain the fact that Pink Cellphone exists.
If we're talking about the good songs, the best for me are Beware and Xerces. Both of them have an ... read more
