BROCKHAMPTON REVISITED 4/8
Sorry for the late post was very busy today.
We are in the post saturation era fellas. Iridescence was a shocker to say the least, for those unaware core member Ameer Vann was kicked out of the group slightly before this albums release which was going to be title "PUPPY". Since they obviously couldn't use his vocals, half the projects was scraped and the other half became 'Iridescence'. The problem with this 2 face solution is, that this album is a tonal ... read more
I am so damn late to this train but this is absolutely a must hear for anyone reading.
This is an EP from the relatively new Maruja, a punk rock experimental group and it already sounds like they have evolved their sound to unbelievable highs. It kicks off with thunder, a song almost from a different plane, similar to our own, but impossible to wrap your head around. The noisy percussion, the VOCALS it comes together seamlessly making room for all 5:16. Blind Spot reminds me so much of GYBE, ... read more

This is longer than my other reviews due to a very specific pet peeve rant | Track by Track below:
Ahh SAT3, This is my most seesaw'd opinion, frequently swapping with SAT2 for the best in the trilogy. There is one absolutely massive gripe I have with this album and in order to express said annoyance, lets do a group exercise (participate if you would like). Let's start with JOHNNY at the 1:00 minute mark. Decent verse from Ameer right? Now pause it and instantly ... read more

I would be lying if I didn't say this is one of the main reasons I wanted to revisit this discography because man is it just fun. You obviously still have the mellow cuts in brockhampton fashion, but they are far more consistent on the mid section compared to Sat1.
The album opens with 4 straight incredible tracks with GUMMY and QUEER especially standing out. This is also the obligatory part in the review series where I say Ameer Vann is a shitty person and ... read more
Listen, I’m not disappointed necessarily, but with a single as crazy as new age crisis. Being blueballed with 2 so-so tracks… It stings
BROCKHAMPTON REVISITED 3/8
I've decided it's time to commit to my first discography dive and where better to start than the best boyband since one-direction
The group doesn't come out swinging, they come out with a motherf*cking haymaker with HEAT being so out of character for this group and it makes it 10x the better because of it, they then follow that with GOLD and STAR which are also arguably among some of their best songs.
This fanned my nostalgia, I knew I loved this group and hearing ... read more
Man, the top comment saying this is Panic at the disco but good ruined this first listen.
But for real, I came into this with their future project 'Frances the Mute' Which I felt blew me away especially in terms of instrumental. Although this project is less experimental, I find the golden head on the cover ironic because this duo has midas' touch when i comes banging songs.
Off of my first listen my gripes are honestly the lyrics, which outside of Drunkship of Lanterns, they could've ... read more
I am coming into this as someone who has not listened to any of Ariana Grande's discography aside from the obvious billboard singles. If there is 2 things I learned from these massive hits its that she likes to sing really high and sort of tiptoe meekly through the song on said high register and secondly, I, a male college student am perhaps not the target audience of this record
Never the less, the whole record I was waiting for the "bottle of thunder bursting open" sort of moment ... read more
He left us for so long and came home with the goddamn milk.
In all seriousness though I've been sitting on this review for a bit longer than most purely because... I honestly don't have anything to dissect, its just fire. The beats go from raw to jazzy, and ScHoolboyQ is in his typical charismatic mood. The worst I can say honestly is that this record obviously isn't generational (and it wasn't trying to thankfully) and the back side is slightly weaker than songs like Yeern and Love Birds ... read more
This unfortunately feels like aminé at his best looking in hindsight, that being said this album has a few bangers.
The production feels slightly empty but at the very least is consistent. This album shines in its features however in my eyes every feature feels like a perfect fit to the point where even young thug sounds good on something that isn't ‘So Much Fun’
Overall a few forgettable tracks and a few permanent playlist spots but certainly nothing to be ... read more
Its hard to explain but as a character, this is that one freshman year kid who is built like a hockey stick with a unkept combover who is such a terminal castaway, they follow the cool kid group throwing out ‘funny’ one liners til they are accepted.
I know it is the furthest an album can be from serious but its... just not funny
Its really rare that I come across a debut album that leaves me with goosebumps for 4 minutes of the first track. Im a sucker for break up/reminiscent albums, throw in some sad indie rock: I’m set and this is no exception. Ive seen some comments that they dont care for Niko’s shakey vocals but I personally dont find it as a turn off. Aside from ‘cardinal’ and ‘until i’m with you again’ every track on this record could be in deep rotation which is a win ... read more
This the shit that puts the soul back in a person. I feel that without great beats, conscious hip-hip feels repetitive and already done with its repeated topics. This record however feels like a true therapy session opening an entirely personal can of worms

AJR if they were slightly better and made the occasional edm banger
If you grew up scrolling on newgrounds this could be newfound nostalgia for you.
Fav track: dreamland

The influence of this album cannot be understated in the slightest, with that being said there are recent renditions of the genre that exceed this record but the slickness in production never leaves me disappointed

The ‘when do they stop tuning their instruments’ jokes are strong with this one but oh my god if it is not a journey none the less. I do agree with some of the negative reviews deeming that the album is too slow paced, that only adds to the surreal highlights on this for me.
This album keeps you on the edge and its less intense moments are there with the purpose of furthering suspense.
