JID Discography Dive 1/3
This is the purest example of an unpolished gem, JID throughout this debut is almost flying off these beats which are way too low quality to keep up with him. Half of which feeling like they were ripped straight off youtube but with some highlights like Hereditary and ironically the interlude, Doo Wop.
His singing is weird on this, he can sing, but it feels like he can't control his volume, almost doing asmr on All Bad. This album wouldn't leave much of an impact if ... read more
It's a hobo johnson single... did you expect a magical TOP Trench moment? It's shocking to me how you can present good ideas in such a bad way. For every good thing this single does lyrically, it messes up 4 others in production and vocal inflictions
It's not Scaled and Icy 👍. The hook just isn't catchy for me with a bit of dead space but with the good production and supportive vocals, I can see the vision. It might grow more if I see it in the context of the album
Thank You Scientist Discography Revisited 3/3
Alright, Elephant in the room time. This album is 85 minutes.
Their previous record was in the questionable zone in terms of length for me because to be Frank, this type of music presented in such large quantities can dull the experience. I found that even with albums like De-Loused in the Comatorium, Prog rock for such a consistently long time can get worn due to its same-ish sound. Which is also why this group comes off as clones to other prog ... read more
Thank You Scientist Discography Revisited 2/3
Stranger Heads Prevail is the second album from the prog-rock band, and who would've guessed, they are doing prog-rock things.
This album comes in with a similar sound to their last album, only this time I feel it's much more consistent and they explore a few more interesting concepts. At this point in the discography however, I can already see what some people don't like about this group, It's the vocals, again. A good example for this is ... read more
Thank You Scientist Discography Revisited 1/3
If I could have sex with a genre it would be prog rock so this is a HEAVILY biased discography dive
I first discovered Thank You Scientist playing osu! of all places (I'm sorry), I then went on to add a fair few of their songs to my playlist then pushed them to the back of my mind. Their albums are typically presented sounding similar to The Mars Volta, only with a far heavier theatrical feel. As with most theatrical outfits, they either border on ... read more
Y'Y Transports you unsteadily along it's track list before exploding on the ending track. This album is too grand for me to explain with my writing style, think Swans but with Avant-Garde Jazz. The slow decent from sounds into a fully realized jazz pieces is perfectly done here.
PVRIS Discography Dive 4/4
PVRIS tries to reinvent themselves once again, only with significantly less success, this album was created with the idea of Alt-Pop with some punk inflictions. The overall sound just does not work for me however being sometimes cringeworthy at parts.
It has it's highlights in GODDESS and TAKE MY NIRVANA which are putting in overtime carrying the rest of the track list. As always, Lynn's vocals sound great, just this time with over the top inflictions.

PVRIS Discography Dive 3/4
This is where PVRIS develops their pop-rock sound that I was first introduced by their few singles I heard. It's not unapologetic levels of punk, but it definantly is a reinvention of their past sound.
This album has a heavy A side bias with songs like January Rain and Use Me being forgettable by the time you get to the end. Hallucinations is the highlight for me, perfectly balancing the sound from both their past and current album.
The lyrics on this stick out ... read more
PVRIS Discography Dive 2/4
This album is The Chainsmokers if they were good
PVRIS doubles down on more emotional songs which honestly works in their favour, This album see's them exploring much more unique ideas than their debut LP. Super small touches like the synths on Half and the drum line on Anybody Else are the things that really help this project over their debut, making the songs feel much more complete.
Lynn's Lyrics are granted, a little repetitive but they're just as emotional. ... read more
PVRIS Discography Dive 1/4
PVRIS is a band that caught my eye mostly because of their often energetic singles and Lynn's vocals which are honestly really dynamic and great to listen to. This LP fortunately and unfortunately doesn't have that punch in the face energetic energy I expected. This album feels in a similar vein to the newest Green Day album, an album that has so many influences it turns into a cover song playlist rather than an engaging experience.

Get Yourself a man who can do both.
Original Tyler fans were mostly disappointed with IGOR, when this album first dropped however the collective reaction was "oh he *rapping* rappin". As with IGOR, the overall production and mix is great but with DJ Drama screaming randomly generated ad-libs every track. I'm *fine* with him on this album but it can get graining track to track.
Highlights like CORSO, MASSA and MANIFESTO(*) show that little to ... read more
Tyler, The Creator Discography Dive 6/7
I was scared of this one, I really didn't want this to grow off of me like most best albums of discography dives do, especially with the negative stigma this has in terms of fanbase.
I'm glad to say this has not grown off me in the slightest, IGOR is in my mind, up there with some of the best character albums. With the track list making such a clear story that is so easy to digest, some people get it without even delving deep in the lyrics.

Tyler takes time to create his first fully cohesive album that also manages to be incredibly beautiful
Since Wolf it feels like Tyler was an artist that was just pushing back his best work to further play a persona, it seemed like genuine work, but his wolf gang kill em all attitude felt like a strangle over him.
The production on this album is at all points more enjoyable than his past works, while wolf had some good production at that point in his ... read more

Misguided step or failed to be understood gem? This album is obviously controversial, that goes without saying. For Wolf to be so well received and for Tyler to drop this in the aftermath is so out of left field it might as well be on a different baseball diamond.
It kicks off letting you know, this album is loud, deathcamp is a really fun example of this noise-rap? and pilot is an example of a bad use, making Tyler almost unlistenable (literally) being ... read more
A Dance-Punk record with industrial, jazz and synth all packaged as a diss track on society? There's a fair bit to digest here.
I've seen some negative opinions on this and I can see why they would perceive it as such. The unbelievably original sound on this is too much for me to pass on though. I don't think this album is laugh out loud funny, but listening to songs like Creepy Crawlers, it's easy to say I was smiling the whole way through. This album is way more abrasive than I expected ... read more

wait wait wait... you mean to tell me... you can make a childish album...fun?
Wolf is a breath of fresh air, Tyler still throws out the occasional eyebrow raising or even gross bar but it feels so much more entertaining than turning himself into a punching bag. It's also worth mentioning that he's using it more as a tool on this album rather than a crutch to make his whole career. The production as a whole is multiple levels more listenable than Goblin, ... read more
Tyler, The Creator Discography Dive 2/7
I'll be blunt to start it off, this album falls off a cliff after the first 4 tracks. Not only is that when the edgy for attention attitude returns, its also where the beats just progressively get worse and worse in terms of mix. If the attention seeking bars weren't bad before, Tyler reminds you every step of the way on this album that if you call him out for it you are nothing more than a "dick rider, (various slurs)"
Despite being made in ... read more
