Rina Sawayama - Hold the Girl
72

Can't help but feel a bit disappointed after her debut. A lot more forgettable tracks.

Hold the Girl is a BANGER tho

Ezra Furman - All of Us Flames
74

first half really good. second half not so good

JID - The Forever Story
88

His flow is infectious

Julia Jacklin - PRE PLEASURE
86

A tremendous follow-up to Julia's breakthrough "Crushing." This record once again is a fantastic blend of rock and singer-songwriter that puts her in the class of many of her contemporaries including Lucy Dacus and Soccer Mommy. "I Was Neon" has SOTY potential for me

Stella Donnelly - Flood
69

Kinda disappointed after her really promising debut. Tracks lack the catchiness of her prior work but also I feel she fails to showcase her voice here and just kinda talks through so many of the tracks.

Viagra Boys - Cave World
87

A little late but this is fan-fucking tastic

Maggie Rogers - Surrender
80

A massive improvement from her debut. Starting to capitalize on that potential that made Pharrell cry

Florist - Florist
86

What an enchanting follow up to Emily Alone. Hope she flies under the radar no more

black midi - Hellfire
81

It's an album that I can recognize is a masterpiece, but I also don't see me revisiting it a lot.

Soccer Mommy - Sometimes, Forever
79

It's something to listen to a song called "Darkness Forever" just as you learn abortion has been outlawed...

Color Theory is maybe my AOTD so far, so I was excited to hear this. And while I think it's strong, it's definitely her weakest to date. Some of the lo-fi is a little too lo-fi for me IMO.

Bartees Strange - Farm to Table
70

While the Bartees Strange debut suffered from being a little all over the place, despite its highs, this one is far more consistent, but with far fewer great moments. It's pretty bland

Grace Ives - Janky Star
89

I had no idea who this person was this morning, but now I'm on my third listen? These songs are absolutely infectious someone call the CDC

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Omnium Gatherum
69

All over the place and wayyyy too long

Ethel Cain - Preacher's Daughter
74

Not sure if I love or hate this one after a few listens. Really no clue. Rating may be off by 20 points in either direction. Thoroughfare is epic though

Angel Olsen - Big Time
82

I feel like this is Angel with a splash of Karen Carpenter. It's nice.

Just Mustard - Heart Under
79

Way better than the condiment

Harry Styles - Harry's House
70

C'mon it's not that bad

Dehd - Blue Skies
74

Dehd have sneakily started to put together a really strong discography

Wilco - Cruel Country
70

Even a not great Wilco album is still decent
