Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band from The Beatles still stands a test to time, like the rest of their records. Even if this isn't their best album, just like Radiohead. Any of their albums can be considered their best. This record is amazing and each of the songs flows smoothly into each other.
80 > 90 > 92
J COLE FINALLY DROPPED THIS ALBUM. This is J Cole's "Good Kidd, Madd City" This album does everything perfect and has no misses for it being a double album. The beats, flows, and experimentation make this a perfect rap record for sure. I love how he went for a more folk-like sound on this album. We will miss you J. Cole.
My first listen of this was rough. I was not a fan of this album but 2nd listen I realized I was wrong. Dreams is such a nostalgic song for me. I love it. The contrast between the male and female vocalists and how they blend their voices is a selling point for me. I mean this album is amazing I will say. There is a reason for the high amount of ratings. One of the best records I've heard In my life...
Strawberry Jam from Animal Collective is another strange album. But they've done it well unlike the other one I've heard. Not much to comment on but it's pretty good for what it is.
American Idiot from Green Day is a weird album. It had such a big cultural impact but It never stuck to me. Some of the songs are perfect. Think the title track. But other songs are too clean and pop sounding for me. It is pop punk to be fair but come on people. Well I did like this album a lot more than my first listen. But It wouldn't be something I would return to. Also i need to learn these songs for the super bowl.
After listening to Blond for the third time. I get it. I used to not enjoy this album, call it overrated, and say channel orange is better (Which it still might be..) But regardless of that. This album grew on me a lot. The middle half of it fell flat but the ending and start were absolute peak. I wish he made more music.
By the Time I Get to Phoenix is simply beautiful. Not the most normal hip hop record ever, but that's what makes it amazing. With songs like "Superman That" and "Knees". It shows how a song can be unconventional and still be masterful. Everything from the production to the vocal performances are just amazing. I finally get the hype.
Clipping.'s - Visions of Bodies Being Burned Is an interesting album to say the least. The rough and distorted instrumentals and the aggressive lyrics and rapping from Daveed Diggs really make this a stand out project. The interludes through out the record really add to the overall sound of the album as well and don't feel thrown in for the sake of having an interlude.
This album is amazing.
On my third official listen I can say it gets better with time. This has to be one of the greatest albums of all time.
82 > 95 > 100?
Don Toliver should have stuck to his more rock centric roots found in "HARDSTONE PSYCHO" This album fell flat really quickly and it's just generic trap music.
80 > 82
One of the most bizarre records of the year. Everything sounds so off-beat it works in a weird way? Injury reserve always is breaking the barrier when it comes to Experimental Hip Hop. Some tracks go from meh to amazing or vise verse. With these interdimensional sounds and grooves. It's like no other record.
The Magnolia Electric Co. Is one of those albums that you are excited for but falls flat. The record is decently uninteresting, but the singer and instrumentation is good. Nothing I would willingly listen to again however.
Incredibly weird, but amazing. I love when the singer sings deep, it scratches my brain.
Don't Wake Me Up from The Microphones is pure, unedited, raw emotion. This is the rawest record from Phil that I've heard yet. He samples these quiet hums and old records as soft voices in the background. He was really sad during this record, as per the lyrics. I enjoyed this album a lot and it's underrated In his discography.
To the notion that people suggest that this is King Crimson's best. I would agree.. If Court of the Crimson King didn't exist.
Quite an interesting album I would say. Really calming and filled with nostalgia. You have to listen to this during the rain or cloudy weather. Such an amazing and heartfelt record with calming guitars and reverb vocals...
Low Roar's "0" Is a dreamy masterpiece that takes you on an adventure no other album ever could.
