Some people say the sequel is better, some say nothing beats the original. I say she's twerking just like she Hannah Montana, head was clean Tony Fantano.
After a prior 2 albums of experimentation, SATURATION III feels like the success of a group finally coming together in one powerful punch. III is easily the best of the SATURATION trilogy, and it's a fantastic album that follows the BROCKHAMPTON conventions whilst also bringing some newer elements.

I never thought I'd hear a 'leftovers' album sound better than the original, but EMOTION Side B manages to do just that. It feels more cohesive and consistent as a project, and even though EMOTION has the better singular tracks, Side B just feels better as an overall project due to there being hardly any bad content.
Carly is one of the queens of modern pop, and with this side project she reinforces this. She makes very simple yet infinitely effective pieces of pop that are deceitfully ... read more
I totally forgot about listening to this album before I saw Isaiah making a come back in 2021 with the release of some singles with varying levels of quality. After hearing the ABYSMAL Lay Wit Ya and the much more refined and fantastic Headshots, I was incited to re listen to this album. Isaiah is much more lo-fi than I remembered, and although he does include a few bangers, he reminds me somewhat of a male version of Noname, just without the communism.
It's a simple and enjoyable album, but ... read more
Since I already gave In Rainbows a 100, I might as well just add another 100 to this god damn masterpiece. God damnit. How can you possibly beat In Rainbows, and do so in an earlier album? That's just insane. I am not kidding when I say that this album changed my ears and I don't know how. OK Computer is so addictive and fascinating with every listen. There's no bad songs, and it's a masterpiece to the fullest extent. Jesus christ somebody please help me out of this circle jerk I just want to ... read more
I wanted to hate this album. I wanted to despise Radiohead with all of my heart. This huge circle jerk of this band has haunted me for around a year, their acclaimed status looming over my ears. A few months ago, I finally took the risk. God damnit, I hate that I love this. I HATE it. I wanted to be cool and quirky and dislike the British lads, but damnit they're too good. It's too good. In Rainbows is too good. It's unfair. Screw this album and its mix of gentle, emotional and beautiful ... read more
Mr West and Mr Common just casually decided to make one of the grandest and most triumphant hip hop albums of all time in the 2000s, and it's breath taking. It's a huge smile-induced listen all throughout, with glossy and sharp production from none other than Mr 'Still in Graduation trilogy' Kanye West, and this is an album that would not only bring Common even more acclaim, but would also promote West's talent even further after the release of the Grammy winning College Dropout.

This is one of those cases where I can understand how it's influential, but it's aged fairly badly in my opinion, especially with the first half. I found myself being irritated more than mesmerised by this album, mainly because of the clunky and odd beats and the huge array of rappers that fluctuate in quality. I'm sad that I can't understand the legendary status that this album seems to hold within hip hop. I have great respect for the clan, but I just get so easily bored by this ... read more
Going into this album about a year and a bit ago totally blind was a first for me. Before that point, I had stuck to only listening to acclaimed stuff, but I saw the cover and was interested to say the least. But man, I used to love this album, or a select few tracks from it at least. It's not an album that I come back to, but I have never heard any hip hop album as summery or blissful as this is, apart from possibly Flower Boy. It's just so unbelievably wonderful and it holds a weird yet ... read more
After, 150 reviews I guess it was time for something special.
2016 was a fantastic year for music. One of my favourite comedians, James Acaster, makes a podcast talking exclusively about how good 2016 was. And it's not just a good year for one genre or specific artist, since you had releases like Blonde, Atrocity Exhibition, Lemonade, The Life of Pablo, Black Star, A Moon Shaped Pool, Bottomless Pit etc etc. But oh lord, 2016 had to come crashing down at some point.

I can't belive that Peggy took such a weird direction after a killer first EP. JPEG's hyperactive and insane energy transcends yet again to a collection of cohesive yet individual songs. Although it's brief, it's a solid delve into more Peggy madness. The cloud rap stuff on here is much better than what's on the second EP's.
It's interesting that Denzel makes an appearance but he cannot beat out the original BALD! due to flows that just kill the pacing of the song. I am definitely prepared to ... read more
Gangsta rap continues to live and evolve with the prodigy himself, Pusha T. King Push is a relatively short yet punchy LP from Pusha, who continues to rap about drugs, sex, cocaine, guns, cocaine, being a rapper and even more cocaine. Every bar is cold and delivered excellently, but some of the beats leave a lot to be desired for. Still though, this is another great hit for the T man.

Honor Killed the Samurai is like Illmatic but with a samurai aesthetic. It sharply resembles poetry with how intriquite KA's words are, and this is helped by the beats not being too elaborated. By having the beats be solumn and repetitive/simple, it draws further attention to his words, which are extremely cold. The idea of relating the harsh street gangs of America to the ancient ways of the samurai is a unique comparison... but it works. Both use codes of honour, revolve majorly around death, ... read more
Eh. Very basic and boring alt rock. The story behind it is interesting but the music itself is unimpactful. I can get why other people might like it but this didn't do it for me. Kicking Cars is probably the best song with that very Creep-esque belt at the end, and Sodium Chloride is okay because it doesn't sound like the rest of the album, but the rest is very forgettable and stale.
Also, I cannot stand his voice. It's unbearable.

This is the audio equivalent of that 'How do you do fellow kids' meme. It's kind of okay, but Cudi feels totally out of his element. Sure, Cudi did help to actually invent Travis Scott, but trap is not Scott's sorta style. He kind of goes back to his old ways in act 3, but the rest is just trap trap trap.
It does get bonus points for the Scott Pilgrim sample though.

Veteran is most definitely a solid project, but sometimes the whole album is overshadowed by three incredible opening songs. You could literally just listen to those and not have to worry about the rest of the album. It's good, but at times Peggy gets a bit too weird or out there for his own good. It's when he combines his incredible flows and lyrical capabilities with his weird and discombobulated production style where he shines, but there's a lot of times on the album where this doesn't ... read more
Although SOUR kind of sucked, Rodrigo at least reminded me of the teen pop genre, and therefore reminded me of its queen, Lorde. The Kiwi was only 16 when she made Pure Heroine, and it's a truly admirable feat. It's a teenage album that doesn't whine about the struggles of boyfriends or complain about school sucking. Instead, it's much more mature, delving into criticisms of the higher ups in society, and how Lorde feels individualistic in this wide, weird world whilst still going through ... read more
Welcome to My Mine is probably the best cover album of all time. It can easily be called the Kid A of cover music. This is the only cover album I've ever heard but I don't need to hear the others in order to know that this is the best.
There's a fine line between parody and genuine art, but MCAP STEVE breaks down barriers like never before. Every song is masterfully performed to a comedic yet admirably loud and passionate extent. My one complaint is that the greatest meme song of all time, ... read more
Masego's Tadow was a colossal hit, and Lady Lady was the album that basically encased it. I think it was a near impossible job to hold up an entire album to Tadow's quality, but Masego gives it a damn good try. Lady Lady is a wonderful neo-soul and r&b dive that's only supposed to be sexy time music, and there's nothing wrong with that. The most enjoyable part of this album though is Old Age, where Masego basically bangs on about MILFS for 2 and a half minutes. Aspirations are aspirations I ... read more
Yeah, take that you stinky New Roads! The boys are back again with another delve into weirdness and chaos, but this time, they get (marginally) FANCIER!
First things first, there's no bad song on here. black midi are literally incapable of creating a bad song in my opinion. Like seriously, these guys haven't made a bad song to date. And in terms of creating an album, they're pretty good at doing that too by now. Cavalcade is less like a scrambling of random tracks like on Schlagenheim, and ... read more
DiCaprio 2 has proved to me that trap can be incredible. This is the first trap album that I'd say I feel comfortable with liking. J.I.D's performances go extremely hard, with incredible bouts of flow and wild lyricism, and the beats aren't the border of being the usual unbearable trap throwaway beats, they have an extra added flavour to them that enhances them. Although the album falls off towards the end, the rest of it is impeccable.
Despite this being a trap album, a good portion of tracks ... read more
