-3 because he eats so much chicken... and as a vegan I can't stand for that. All jokes aside (please know that I'm joking), the heavy bass and funky keys give The Doors a very early-Beach-Boys-esque feel that plays wonderfully. A great psychedelic rock album that feels spacey and light, the instrumentation at times feeling distant with its great play with reverb throughout the album. To think this came out over 50 years ago and is The Doors' debut is unreal

This caught me off guard! I had enjoyed their self-titled debut, and hadn't thought of Vampire Weekend since then. However, having heard from AOTY and friends that Modern Vampires of the City was a banger, I figured I'd return to their discography to see what they had in store. This is fine.. better than Good News for sure. There are some entertaining tracks on this, but most of the album sounded bland and sometimes even borderline-obnoxious. The biggest problem I think I have with this album is how uninspired the choruses are on almost every song, which became pretty annoying by the last few tracks. But, to be fair, it does have that lil yummy yum
