I would’ve liked this album more than Born to Die and it’s companion EP, Paradise if it weren’t for the last 3 songs on this album. Why Lana. Why did you just NEED to make the deluxe version. The standard version of Ultraviolence is an 84 for me.
I prefer this melancholy sound over her previous work. It feels like it fits better with her cutting and destructive lyrics - which still hit most of the time with about the same consistency as before. I could’ve gone without ... read more
Holy shit I enjoyed Paradise so much more than I thought. LDR's vocals are stunning. I couldn't decide if I thought Gods & Monsters was corny or good at first and I've decided that it's actually amazing. You've got your classic Lana bangers (i.e Ride) and then beautiful ballads like Blue Velvet. The song Bel Air almost completely ruined the project for me because I thought she said "Lead me to war with your brilliant erection" - it's direction we're chillin..
fav song: Yayo
I had heard almost all the songs on Born To Die previously, but it wasn't until now that I listened to them all in the correct order and I must say that I'm very surprised at how well it all connects. The placement of each of the songs as well as the themes contained within them just make sense. It's an essential album in her journey to establish her signature sound that we all know today. The only shortcoming in Born to Die is that it feels messy at times. It's like she's trying a little too ... read more
"10th birthday - got a puppy. now i'm in the park with the middle class yobs tryna get lucky" FUEGO. Aside from the great lyrics, the instrumentation on this album is amazing.. especially from their guitarist who I feel is a leading force on this album. There are times when there's so much going on at once but the strings make sure that the songs don't ever completely lose form. REALLY good sounding stuff from these guys. Looking forward to discovering more from them
A friend introduced me to Grimes around 6 months ago by showing me Art Angels which I really enjoyed for the most part, though it was the soundscapes that Grimes created in Visions that really blew me away. Because of this, I highly anticipated Miss Anthropocene. Having gone through Miss Anthropocene a few times now, this albums is really, really good.
Upon first listen, the standouts were the more energetic and bass heavy tracks like Violence, 4ÆM, and We Appreciate Power. Other than ... read more
I’ve finally found the “U LIKE MY DIAMONDS AND MY PEARLS” song. This album is a blast. I was skeptical at first because 15 songs in a runtime under 15 minutes can be a red flag for me, but Tierra Whack manages to pack so much content and character into these snippets. And that’s really what they are - snippets. Each song gives you just a taste of what she’s capable of. It’ll be interesting see if Tierra Whack can focus this creativity on a more specific ... read more

I have never had an album grow on me the way that titanic rising has. it wasn’t until like my 4th/5th listen where i really came to appreciate it as much as i do now. this album sounds like an ancient masterpiece that aliens are showing us unworthy humans. no but seriously the vocals on this project are overwhelmingly beautiful at times, and the perfect blend of raw instruments and electronic/synthy production compliment her voice amazingly.
If you don’t like this album on your ... read more
i’ve had trouble listening to EDEN in the past mostly because it’s easy for me to get bored with this style of music. although it’s more or less the same style in this album, it feels more refined and definitely an easier listen for me as i was able to complete the album without much of a problem. i think this is due to some good creative decisions in the production. there’s also no denying that he has a beautiful voice. i might end up listening to his older albums again ... read more
this album is so groovy. I am always blown away by tame impala’s mixing and this time it sounds better than ever. i absolutely love the drum patterns throughout the album. In songs like “on track” and “one more hour” they just hit so nicely. the album version of “Borderline“ is also great and an improvement to a song that I already like. i personally prefer the psychedelic-rock sound of Lonerism, still a great album nonetheless with the only skippable ... read more
i have never heard of cindy lee and just jumped into this album. WHAT? this album is insane, chaotic, even unsettling, but in the best and most beautiful way. very intrigued
This album starts off pretty slow. there’s a lot of features that i was excited to hear in the beginning, but i wasn’t really impressed with any of them. it isn’t until around the middle of the album where things start to pick up with calm down (ft summer walker). i can definitely see myself returning to R.O.D depending on the mood, and the song after, Big Shit. another standout is King of My City near the end of the album. a boogie normally does on simple piano/guitar riffs ... read more
girlfriend convinced me to go see them live. they were really good.
fav tracks: Spiderhead, take it or leave it, cigarette daydreams
if adults had their own lullabies, frank ocean would be the equivalent.
frank ocean organizes his music in a really unique way. in a lot of the songs on this album it can be difficult to guess when the verses, choruses, bridges, etc are coming. I can see why this doesn't appeal to everyone - it can be hard to find any rhythm. it's a very abstract album but not necessarily experimental. the poetic lyricism makes this album feel much more personal than channel orange. If one things for sure you ... read more
it took me a really long time getting around to listening to tame impala but in just the past 6 months since hearing this album for the first time, Kevin Parker has quickly become one of my favorite musicians. listening to this album - as well as almost every tame impala song released, brings me pure bliss. Kevin parker creates beautiful psychedelic soundscapes by stacking sound effects on top of each other using drums, guitar, the keyboard, etc. the other thing that really stands out to me are ... read more
the release of this incredible jazz-rap fusion album meant we could now put Kendrick into discussion for the greatest rapper of all time. K-dot's 2015 album 'to pimp a butterfly is often perceived as one of the best albums ever created. a large part of this is due to its necessity amidst social conflict and violence in America. this made Lamar's social commentary on a wide range of subjects 10 times more impactful. the chorus to "alright" quickly became an anthem for millions of ... read more
The melody to Ezra has been stuck in my head ever since I first heard it in 2012 and i'm not even mad. Some of my all time favorite and nostalgic songs are on Flume's self titled debut album. Flume intricately places sounds in spots where you'd least expect it, but the end result is something that sounds so intentional and complete. He does this in a way that no other producer can. i can't help but notice the radio started sounding a lot more "flumey" after this release. after ... read more
