While I do still like this album a lot and find a lot of it to be really enjoyable, I’m just a little disappointed due to how talented Roddy Ricch is and how much potential I think he has.
I have always though Roddy Ricch stood out amongst other melodic trap artists in this lane. Something about his music is always more interesting to me, as he usually has some really good production, his melodies and voice are really interesting, and his hooks are normally pretty good. Songs like ... read more
This is probably the most consistent of the three EPS.
While I liked both Rap? and Pop?, they weren’t her best and they didn’t live up to what I know she’s capable of. Rap? felt kinda safe and bland, and while Pop? was more out there, the ideas weren’t always fleshed out or executed in the best way. So with R&B?, how do I feel? Well, I do really like all three songs and think they are solid, but once again I kinda feel like they aren’t as fleshed out and ... read more
THIS IS SOOOO GOOD
This is the most excited I’ve been for a collab in a long time, as FKA Twigs and The Weeknd are two of my favorite artists. And with production with Arca? It’s like a dream collab. And unsurprisingly, this is fantastic. The instrumental from Arca, El Guincho and Cirkut is great, I really love the chorus, and both FKA Twigs and Abel sound really good here. I’m really excited for this new FKA Twigs project, especially if it goes in this direction and is this ... read more
Oh look, Tory Lanez being derivative again and now trying to make 80s music while trying his hardest to sound like The Weeknd!
As always, I have to get my obligatory FUCK TORY LANEZ out of the way. However, I didn’t want to let my hatred for him cloud my judgement, as I’m sick of Tory Lanez bots telling me I can’t “separate the art from the artist”, so I went into this trying to be as unbiased as possible. And I will say, this is his best project in a while, but ... read more
While I enjoyed Juice WRLD’s first posthumous album and thought it had some of Juice WRLD’s best material, Fighting Demons is a noticeable dip in quality and feels more like a money grab, even if it’s still decent.
Going into this album, the singles were pretty disappointing, the features were questionable, and I thought the album cover was atrocious. I was worried this was going to be exploitative, and while it definitely is to an extent, it’s not as bad as some other ... read more
Can someone make a version of this album without Russ? That would be a pretty good album.
This project has some really good production and some really impressive features, but Russ himself just can’t get out of his own way and just brings it all down. If any other rapper made this album it would be really good, but Russ just always has to do something to ruin it. Also, how the fuck did Russ manage this feature list? Overall, Chomp 2 is not terrible, and I do like many aspects of the ... read more
Tierra…what is this rollout and what is the direction?
Rap? was a solid EP, but it just wasn’t up to what I know Tierra Whack is capable of. It felt a little too safe and bland, and it wasn’t as out there as she usually is. And while Pop? Is definitely out there and pretty unique, something feels off and the ideas here aren’t executed in the best way. I do like the EP, and I do like her personality shining through, but I’m just worried for her music going ... read more
I’m the world’s biggest Tierra Whack stan, but while I do like this, I’m just a little disappointed.
Tierra Whack has been the one artist whose career I have been most excited for over the last few years. She just has so much talent and personality, and her music is just so creative and unique. Whack World is such a cool and unique concept that was really well executed, and her freestyles on Instagram are insane and show how talented she is. She just has so much potential ... read more
YB Better, L + ratio
In all seriousness, I've never understood the appeal of French Montana and I probably never will. I've always found him to be the rapper version of DJ Khaled, and I have never found him to be talented. And recently he has proven himself to be pretty unlikeable, so there's that too. So after making myself suffer through this, I come away from this annoyed. I'm annoyed because the production here is actually kinda solid, and there are some ok features, but French Montana has ... read more
30 is decidedly not as poppy as some of her most popular music has been, and as a result it ends up being a really interesting album and a solid artistic statement from Adele.
While Adele’s music was a big part of my childhood, I have never heard a full project from her before. Obviously I know the big singles, and I have loved almost all of her big singles, but I’ve never viewed her as an album artist. So going into this, I was expecting some outstanding tracks, but I wasn’t ... read more
An Evening With Silk Sonic showcases Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak’s insane talent, presence, and chemistry together, and the result is FUCKING OUTSTANDING and some of the most fun music I’ve ever heard.
When this album was announced earlier this year, I was super excited. Bruno Mars has been someone who I thought was super talented and had a lot of potential and charisma, and I thought he had some great hits over the years, but he had never wowed me with a full body of work. On ... read more
While this Aries album has some flaws, I am impressed by the quality here and think this is pretty solid overall.
I have seen many people praise Aries’s music in the past, but I have never been all that impressed with it. I did enjoy the singles for this album though, so I was looking forward to this, and while it isn’t as good as I was hoping it could be, I do still like it quite a bit.
While I do still see some room for improvement here, I think that this album is a solid ... read more
That Kodak Black verse is legitimately the worst feature I’ve ever heard lmao
Even before DaBaby revealed himself to be a homophobic ass, I was already getting tired of DaBaby. His sound and style was fun at first, but he just kept repeating it and his music started to feel very formulaic. And this is yet another example of that. This project is boring and pointless. It offers nothing new or interesting for DaBaby, and it honestly feels like he didn’t try here. This is just the ... read more
This is really disappointing for me. The instrumental is pretty basic and boring, and Juice’s songwriting and performance just aren’t really impressing me here.
While I do really like this more hyperpop influenced sound, and while it is very fun and playful, the project is just a little too underdeveloped to hit its full potential. Lot of solid tracks here though and I do find it to be a really enjoyable project overall.
"Not to sound dramatic, but I want to die"
While this is the weakest of the 3 singles for me, this is still just so good and they are having so much fun that it still ends up being a great time
Wow this was not the smash I was hoping for. It’s catchy but just really safe and generic. It’s not bad, but I’m just a little disappointed.
