By my mistake, the volume on my headphones was a little too loud and I blew my eardrums out immediately, and now I am unable to listen to music. pretty good
Converge follows up Jane Doe with a sludgey spin on their sound. While I think it's executed well, it doesn't have as much of an effect as Jane Doe, although it might be unfair to compare them. Still very good.
While the drum and bass and breakcore elements are toned down here, fromjoy manages to create an album that is both beautiful and crushing.
Death Spells managed to hook me into the soundscapes of Holy Fawn, but Dimensional Bleed doesn't do much to expand on it. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but I still feel underwhelmed. I can't help but wonder why the screaming vocals are so quiet. This was also a problem on the Death Spells, but I think other elements made up for it while they don't here on Dimensional Bleed. That being said, I'm still excited to see where this band goes next.
Honestly just what I've been looking for in terms of noisy music. The only miss on here is Tennis but I can definitely see where they're coming from with it. Overall very good.
Out of It is really great and everything else is... good. There's nothing too special, it's catchy but that's about as far as it goes.
It might be 18 minutes of pure insanity but man, is it fun. It literally never backs down, even if you count Ambulance which is an interlude of sorts. I found myself involuntarily chuckling at some the insane moments on here, and I love it. It's honestly exhilarating. Am I ever gonna listen to this? Probably not. But some of the best music comes from those albums that you really only listen to once. It's a very interesting experience.
I was a little nervous about this album from the first two songs, but man does it really PULL itself back up. (see what I did there). No but seriously, this album is great. It really scratches the itch of noisy shoegaze I've been yearning for recently. And the ambience really adds to the atmosphere and creates some genuinely beautiful sounding landscapes like on Pull and Shift. The drums are loud and pounding and just adds to the noisiness of it. It's a crime they haven't gotten popular ... read more
Palisades is back after four years without an album. (It's really been that long?) Said previous album has always been a guilty pleasure for me. After I heard that their vocalist was leaving I was a bit nervous. Last year they released a single from the album, My Consequences and... it's alright. It's not good, not bad, just alright. The vocalist, who I think has always been in the band but replaced the old vocalist is... fine. Lou's vocals just sounded better and fitted the music behind it ... read more
As an avid shoegaze listener it might come off as odd that I've never really been a fan of dream pop. I'm just not that interested. But randomly I thought, "Hey I should try listening to some dream pop, maybe I'll like it." And hey this is good
Edit: Sputnik Reviews gave this a 48 because they don't like that it experiments lmaooooo
This one's a long time coming
1. Theme
The album opens with a soft chorale of moving ambience, and what seems to be the distant calls of whales. It sets the tone for the album, one that is melancholic, before swiftly moving into chaos.
2. Aggressive Evolution
Dissonance hits the listeners ears, establishing a sense of chaos as the first verse comes in. But not too long after, the chorus is introduced, ... read more
This reminds me of The Angelic Process quite a bit, but with more of a focus on the atmosphere and a melancholic feeling, rather than a borderline apocalyptic feeling. Pretty good.

There's some good ideas, but I think they're weighed down by this albums incessant need to be super melodic. It's fine for metal to be melodic but it personally bored me.

This EP shows potential. I think with some touching up and better production, Alcoholic Aunt could make some pretty good music.
