Saint is a burst of energy that hits you in the face before abruptly leaving without a goodbye.
I found the shortness of this EP to work very well compared to their previous EP, Soul Burn. It doesn't drag as much, and nothing feels out of place here. It's just some pretty good metalcore with nu metal, (and a little djent?) influence.

Even though Grotesque didn't hook me in, I kept listening and found some a good EP here. My biggest complaint is You in Frame, it's way out of place and bored me more than anything. I think it was meant to be sad, but I was way more affected my Melancholy Oxidase. The lyrics are actually pretty good for the most part. Soul Burn is pounding and exciting even with it's mishaps.
Favorites: Crooked, Melancholy Oxidase, Ultima Death
Dislikes: You in Frame
An extremely promising debut album which makes it that much more annoying that they're breaking up. It's not amazing but they're good ideas here. It reminds me of Vein.fm and Loathe, which is a good thing because I love both of those bands.
Favorites: Season of Blood, Sudden Panic, Dopesick, The Altar, Worthy Host

Edit: This has definitely grown on me.
I don't really have much to say, this is just pretty damn good. There's definitely a few missteps, but I think the pros definitely outweigh the cons. It has a great mix of punk influence, metalcore, and even post hardcore. And can we talk about that breakdown at the end of Lye solution? God damn, that was good. Good album
Favorites: Courtney, just relax, Lye solution, Marisol

I'm a little disappointed. Circling the Drain was pretty damn good, so I had high hopes. The acoustic guitar sounds scratchy, the drums sound way too processed, the guitar solo is bad, and the piano was a little tacky. As usual though, Nathan's vocals are pretty good, but it really doesn't save the song.
My introduction to shoegaze was a band that has been compared to often to this one, Nothing. And for good reason. There are many elements that are shared between the two, but after listening to this album, I wonder why people.put them together so often. Nothing tends to be either very loud and bold or atmospheric and dark. But to me, Whirr leans to the side of a relaxing experience rather than a upbeat experience. The tone is especially different, Guilty of Everything was very emotive in it's ... read more
From the beginning, this album is overwhelming. Walls of sound attack your eardrums leaving you with a feeling of confusion and fear. The ambience ties it together to create a raw and emotional sound. This album has a lot of moments where everything feels weightless until it all comes together in the explosion of sound and emotion, it's absolutely brilliant. Like people have said before, it gives you the feeling of watching everything around you burn away, not being able to do anything about ... read more
This is just some good shoegaze, my ears like it, so I like it. There's good ambience, it's catchy, and the vocals are good too. It also goes for a very certain tone through out and really sticks with it, which I think a lot of albums have trouble doing.

The Great Dismal is on of my favorite albums of all time, and I think this adds a lot to it. It's much more focused on the ambient side of shoegaze than the album, and I really like the 3 songs on here.
Favorites: Ambler Gambler, The Great Dismal, La La Means I Love You
Nothing is probably my favorite band at the moment. An hour ago I realized that I hadn't listened to this so I thought, "Hey, more music I guess!" There's definitely some interesting ideas. I really like Downward Years to Come and Mine is Clouds especially. The other songs are alright, but they failed to really entice me. It's great to see Nothing back when they weren't all that great because it really shows how far they've progressed. There's a lot here that I hear in Guilty of ... read more
Yay new Microwave! This sounds like it would be on Stovall, but it also has some of the elements from Much Love. I absolutely loved DIAWB but I'm glad to see their old style back!
Edit: Damn this is really growing on me
This album is kind of hit or miss for me. The first track, In the Distant Travels is an amazing opener. But on the other hand, You Dance Like The June Sky isn't that great. The screaming is mediocre unless it's mixed in with the ambience and has a lot of reverb. Because without it, it sounds a little flat. I think this album is good overall, but I just wished there were more tracks like In the Distant Travels and Somewhere.

It's funky, it's groovy, but most importantly, it goes as as hell. The politics are cool and all but this shit just slaps sonically. There isn't a single bad or mediocre song on here. I think a lot of nu-metal/rap metal doesn't really know what metal is exactly, but this gets perfectly heavy at the best times. This is some good ass music.
Favorites: Killing In the Name, Bullet in the Head, Wake Up, Fistful of Steel, Township Rebellion, Freedom
Post-metal has become one of my favorite genres as of late. And this is pretty good. One of the things I like about this album, is that all of the songs tie into each other. Most of the time I couldn't tell when the song switched because it was that good at seamlessly transitions. It also sets a very clear tone from the very first song, to the end. I'd probably describe it as kind of dark and brooding, like there's this lingering doom in the background, which I think is pretty cool. I also ... read more
This album does a lot right. It's good at creating an atmosphere, and it's very catchy for the most part. But the vocals sour the experience a lot. Don't get me wrong, I think this is still good, but I think Kraus refined their sound a lot after this album, and it shows.
Favorites: Bum, Outside, Big Blood

How It Feels to Be Lost was one of the first albums that got me into heavy music. Naturally, since I've been doing this revisited series thing, I thought that this would be a perfect album to come back to, track by track.
1. Leave It All Behind
The intro of this song is actually not bad. The drums are loud, and it picks up into a pretty catchy riff. If you've never listened to Sleeping With Sirens, the vocals will probably catch you off guard. I don't know why, but I think Kellin Quinn inhales ... read more
While listening to The Seer, one of the most common thoughts will be, "What the hell is going on?"
This album is huge, at just under two hours, this is the single longest album I've listened to, behind that being Deathconsciousness. I avoided listening to this for that reason, and that reason alone.
I honestly don't have much to say. Post-rock is such a broad genre that trying to define it is like trying to comprehend 4 dimensional spaces. My ape brain doesn't understand it.

With the exception of Child, this isn't memorable at all. Most of it is probably because the production is muddy so sometimes it's hard to tell what's going on, even though you're meant to hear it clearly.
Edit: This is kinda growing on me?
