I love this new Sloppy Jane album. On the level of artists like Okay Kaya and Spellling, Sloppy Jane demonstrates beautiful art pop by combining different genres that are tied together by mesmerizing, Alice-and-Wonderland-type piano playing- most notable on Wonderama. The versatility of this album is incredible and it's shown off if you compare the vocals of a dramatic, story-telling track like The Constable ... read more

Honestly, I dislike almost every re-recording of the original 16 songs. All of them really pale in comparison except The Lucky One. I feel Red is such a period piece of Taylor Swift's life so these versions feel like covers, not a maturation.
But the songs from the vault really came through on this. The acoustic version of State Of Grace is beautiful and the rerecording of Ronan is wonderful- I'm very happy to finally ... read more

Adding an emotion to a color gives a lot of power to that color. Red is such an intense and bright color- and Taylor Swift adds dimension to it. Red is love, red is pain, red is happiness- red is the most intense moment of any feeling.
Red cemented Swift as one of the greatest pop stars of the generation as this was the first album to see a full shift to something less country. There's moments of country used sparsely like ... read more

Over the past three years, IDLES has quickly cemented themselves as one of the leading faces of punk along with being one of my favorite bands. Their loud and abrasive sound with lyrics being fight songs for peace and justice has always helped IDLES stand out from the crowd. However, 2021 has been a particularly great year for UK post-punk with releases from shame, Black Country New Road, black midi, and Squid all ... read more

Austin Weber DMs my friend's track and cross country meme page often. This has nothing to do with this album but it's a fact I'd like to share.

A really loud and fast paced emo project. The lyrics are honest and a little immature at times but made up by whiny vocals and catchy riffs.

Angélica Garcia is a Spanish-American singer from California. Last year, she really impressed me with her full length release of Cha Cha Palace that combined her a cappella talent and strong voice to create a really lively and bouncy album.
Echo Eléctrico has a dream like feel to it on Malagueña and Macorina and use Garcia's voice as a counterpoint to create these surreal sounding songs. A repetitive sound ... read more

Since the band tweeted something out I just want to mention that this EP has a lot of topics of abuse and suicide on it so if you haven't listened yet, just keep that in mind.
Heart Attack Man is a hard rock/punk band from Ohio. I've been listening to them since the early release of The Manson Family in 2017 and their sound has progressively been changing ever since. With the release of Thoughtz & Prayerz, I wasn't entirely sure what ... read more

Lindsey Jordan is back with the well-anticipated second album release of "Valentine". Just from the singles, it's obvious that Jordan has completely stepped up her game in singing, song writing and production so I was excited to hear the entirety of Valentine. Just the maturation of a song like Ben Franklin in its vocals shows how much Jordan has grown.
Valentine is filled to the brim with beautiful, bittersweet love. Tracks ... read more

Lily We Need to Talk Now is the effortlessly charming album by Lily Konigsberg. This album is very innocent pop with a mix of 2000s pop on tracks like Sweat Forever. There's obviously some influence from acts like Frankie Cosmos on That's the Way I Like It, Bad Boy and True thus making it somewhat unoriginal. But there is still a lot of fun in this short album.

Helado Negro has a talent to make easy listening music not just background noise. Negro has a beautifully soothing voice that you can hear on every track. His voice, though, is enhanced by the simple yet beautiful instrumentals. His guitar plays a big role on every track here but sounds especially wonderful in the more atmospheric tracks like Wake Up Tomorrow and Thank You For Forever. But the production become enhanced with ... read more
