When asked if he liked WOHO, JPEGMAFIA once said: "Yea they straight".
I love skinless. I love the emo aspect that We Are Only Human One takes on this. This very emotionally strong and intense guitars and vocals lead on tracks like beechmont and in my hands. The vocals on this record are really strong on this, with the story really being sold on tracks like never better or all your friends by having these raw sounding singing ... read more

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: White Buffalo Roam
There's something really enticing about Toner. Whether it's the catchy riffs or the garage rock vocals, every song is filled with a 90s-inspired darkness to keep you listening. It's obvious the band seeks refuge in acts like Joy Division and Sonic Youth for vocals on Under The Gun, but Toner is like the stoner cousin of those bands. There's enough freshness on White Buffalo Roam to make Toner a standout in noise pop.

Phoneboy is a band from New Jersey. At this rate, I should only review music from New Jersey because I have so much pride for that state despite hating living there for 18 years of my life. But besides that, Phoneboy is an indie pop band with this self titled release being their first full length project.
The first thing that stuck out to me is how good the vocals are. The vocals on Roses is so fun. I also love the guitar on Sweater Song and ... read more

The Phantom of the Highland Park Ebell is a movie directed and starring Nick Rattigan. The movie features a lot of live versions of songs from Voyager so this is essentially a live album.
I feel a lot of this is a hit in one department but a miss in the next. On Amateur, Shivers and Voyager Pt. 2 Nick Rattigan’s voice sounds incredible while the instrumentals are a little lackluster. But the ... read more

Olivia O. is known for being the voice behind Lowertown, the indie rock duo between her and Avsha the Awesome.
Olivia O has a beautiful voice. She sounds so intimate on Brittle and All I Want. Although the instrumentals are a bit lackluster on those tracks, it's made up for by her voice. I love the old and tinny sounding instrumentals of Leaper and Butchers Row, it reminds me a lot of teen suicide and Daniel Johnston. Cocoon is ... read more

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: That's When
This chapter of Fearless are all songs that never got an official release which honestly makes it the best chapter. The best part of the new Fearless is the new tracks so this just features them. Taylor Swift sounds wonderful on this part, especially on Mr. Perfectly Fine and Bye Bye Baby. This chapter has great lyrics and a very emotional undertone to it to make it feel very real.

Lowertown is a band I've heard a few songs from but nothing by them really stuck out. There last EP, Honeycomb, Bedbug, had a few standout tracks because of its vocals and comforting production but nothing really pushed me to come back to it. However, I was excited for the release of The Gaping Mouth to see what the duo would do with their sound.
The Gaping Mouth is an album I really enjoy because it checks off all the boxes of what I ... read more

I'm really surprised to see this album getting as much reception as it is. Amyl & The Sniffers is a very raw and retro sounding female-led punk band. Over the past few years, I've noticed an increase in this sound with acts like Amyl and Surfbort but I didn't expect to catch on the way Comfort to Me seems to have caught on.
Comfort to Me is an intense and grippingly catchy punk album. The intensity of their sound is led by the ... read more

The Yearbook is a mixtape by up-and-coming singer, Baby Queen. I've been aware of Baby Queen's work since the release of her 2020 EP, Medicine, as her sound is similar to the work of Jack River and Sir Babygirl with Baby Queen offering a younger lens to this girly and queer narrative. I've really been looking forward to The Yearbook because of BQ's concept of having different characters represent these tracks.

I'm pleasantly surprised by this. I never gave much to Lil Nas X's music. Yes, it's fun and catchy but I didn't really know if Nas had the potential to be more than a single-based TikTok rapper.
MONTERO is so catchy. Every song on this album is impossible to get out of your head. And they're all performed well. Nas has a really solid flow and rap style that comes through on MONTERO, DEAD RIGHT NOW and INDUSTRY BABY. Nas is ... read more

I'm really torn on this album. I definitely don't hate it but I'm not sure how to enjoy it?? if that makes sense?? Because this isn't a concept album but it plays out like that, focusing on the central theme of Kacey Musgraves' divorce. The album gets more cheerful towards the end but it has its moments of self-reflection and nostalgia for the good times throughout. But I feel like a lot of these songs can't be as enjoyable without ... read more

Loveseat Pete is a three piece from my neck of the woods (New Jersey!!). Pajama Sam was one of my favorite songs released last year so to see it on an EP is super exciting.
God Damn, Give Up is a four track EP with every song being an incredibly catchy indie pop track. There's incredible guitar riffs on all these songs, especially Harry/New Song and Feed the Ducks. The vocals on all of these tracks are wonderfully emotive and add ... read more

There's a lot of great ideas on Baby Keem's debut, The Melodic Blue, but nothing is really stretched to its full potential. The beat changes on trademark usa and family ties are great and I wish they were used more efficiently throughout the album. Keem's flow is pretty solid throughout this whole album and the features really raise him rather than hinder him. The instrumentals for tracks like family ties, 16 and vent are good but ... read more

“We cannot end this with an agree to disagree, there is no happy medium.”
On Injury Reserve’s most abstract album to date, Ritchie with a T and Parker Corey touch on the idea of loss and life in a way unlike most projects.

Certified Boy Lover
You know, some of these features are not bad. Rick Ross and Lil Wayne are good on You Only Live Twice and Future steals the show on Way 2 Sexy. Travis Scott is alright on Fair Trade.
For Drake's part, he sounds right on Knife Talk. The beat switch up on Champagne Poetry is really good and the use of synth towards the last minute is a smart move. But besides that, my praise kinda dies.

My main compliant with R.A.P. Ferreira's last album was that it was wayyyy too long. I think cutting down on the length was helpful for the rapper, I just don't think this sound is for me.
I love some of the beats on the record. the cough bomber's report and redguard snipers has a great beat change in the middle of the song that works well. The guitar added on abomunist manifesto is really interesting and I think it ... read more

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Spinning
I <3 the DIY scene.
On Jail Sock's first album, they really push the agenda of "5th wave twinkly emo". The guitars on Caving In, On the Run, Coming Down and Peace of Mind really have that new emo sound to it and it's done right. Songs like Point Pleasant are somewhat forgettable with the vocals and lyrics but the liveliness and just young-and-free push on the instrumentals makes the song an ear worm.

"Pressure makes diamonds."
Your album has to be crazy for good for even most of the interludes to hit too.
Sometimes I Might Be Introvert plays out like a musical. The story of the album runs like a play with each song connecting to the idea of femininity, building your career and family issues. Even the interludes like Gems and The Rapper That Came To Tea enhance the story Little Simz is telling. And the ... read more

The cover and vibe of this album release made me really confused if I was talking about the same Turnstile as y'all.
GLOW ON isa guitar album. The mix of different genres just executed throughout the guitar on this is unlike anything I've heard this year. The dark, 90s skaters riff on BLACKOUT is awesome. MYSTERY mixes a dream pop sound with this hardcore rock one that Turtnstile has bringing for years. On top of being great ... read more
