To preface this, I speak absolutely no Russian so this review is purely based on the sound of the album alone - I can't comment on the lyrics or lyricism at all.
What I can say is that this is quite an enjoyable example of Russian alt-indie, although many of the tracks will sound pretty strange to the casual listener (especially on first listen). 'Наверное, точно' combines many different elements to form many of their songs, with each song a completely unique experience from ... read more
A real solid EP from Luna Bay, packed to the brim with energy and enthusiasm. 'Hometown' and 'Little Amsterdam' stand out as stellar tracks, although all 5 songs are solid and help round out a very enjoyable 17 minutes of music. Would certainly recommend giving this EP a listen, and I'll be following Luna Bay to see what's next in store!
Whilst a solid enough album, I found that it didn't quite reach the highs described in other reviews - perhaps lacking in some regards compared to their older works. Whilst decent enough as an album, it failed to captivate me enough to make me WANT to return to it, instead presenting itself more as the type of album you turn to when stuck for ideas or, perhaps more so, the type of album to stick on in the background whilst working on something else. I see it as another example of an album that ... read more
In a way this album is indescribable - perhaps the best way to describe it is that it is an experience. If you enjoy more experimental sounds you will love this album, and even if it's not your usual preferred style of music I would still recommend you give this a listen because Animal Collective create a sound that is incredibly pleasing even to the most casual of listener. An epic album from beginning to end.
A pretty strong album, no complaints here. Some tracks are weaker than others, but generally pretty consistent quality throughout the album - 'Highway 6' is a really solid track.
A really solid album that flows seamlessly from track to track - definitely worth checking out if you get the chance
A strong album from start to finish - many if not all of the songs sound like they could have succeeded as singles with little dropoff in quality from start to finish. 'Buck Rogers' is a true classic, yet is not overshadowed by other tracks on this album as is occasionally seen on other albums (where one single may make or break the album). Some consider the opening track to be weak, but personally I found it a reasonable opening song that was fairly enjoyable, but perhaps is the only track to ... read more
Thoroughly enjoyable, I personally found this to be their strongest album to date (and quite comfortably so at that). Their sound throughout the album is easy on the ear and fun to listen too, with many of the songs being particularly strong. 'Winter Buds' may stand out to me as my favourite, but there are a fair few good songs on this album to choose from.
Really didn't do it for me, nothing stood out and it felt like a bit of a chore to get through. The quality is alright, but none of the songs excited me and the songs are nothing memorable. It won't offend you, but I'm not sure it's even worth your time when there are far better options available
Yussef Dayes + Drums = what more can I say
Personally really enjoyed this album, but will agree with some reviews I've seen that mention that it blends into one long track or medley. Could have done with shortening up or perhaps a better order of tracks to keep it fresh
