greatest ep ever made and id say, taking the ep as one long track split into two movements, my single favourite piece by godspeed you black emperor! WRONG MY OPINIONS CHANGED BUT IM KEEPING THIS UP
90 minutes of perfection, this is music as cinema
every listen i like this album more and more. the album somehow manages to have a great flow (imo maybe the best sequenced radiohead album) with so many different and somewhat conflicting musical ideas and genres. every song is either a great standalone song like pyramid song, i might be wrong, knives out etc or is a strange interlude that somehow to me works perfectly in the albums context ie revolving doors and hunting bears that I actually think work wonders on building the atmosphere of the ... read more
this was not an enjoyable listen, and maybe thats the point, but when an album is so anxiety inducing that it dissuades me from ever relistening to it, combined with the fact this shit is way too long, it starts to seriously detract from my overall rating of the album.
10/10 perfection.
This is the best album I have ever listened to. Unfortunately I can't speak the language so, while I have read the translated lyrics, I will never be able to fully appreciate that side of this record. But from a purely instrumental standpoint this album is a masterpiece.
There is not a single miss on this tracklisting and the flow of the album is unmatched. The album blends so many different genre's so seamlessly that even now months after I discovered it I'm ... read more
5 listens in 1 day. Extremely underwhelmed first listen. Still don't like the final 4 tracks all that much, but I may come to like them over more listens. Overall love this album, with tracks like God Loves You, Shut Yo Bitch Ass Up / Muddy Waters, Burfict!, Garbage Pale Kids and SCARING THE HOES standing out as some of the best in both artists discographies.
The programmed drums really ruin it for me here, especially on songs like Down the River. I also think a lot of the songs sound very samey and the whole album is a little bit boring for me. There are still some standout phenomenal songs.
Favourites: Curses, I Talk in My sleep, Nothing at All, Not the Ghost, The Garden
Least Favourites: Turn Out the Lights, Pretty Little Things, Down the River
Some phenomenal songs here but everything is too short. Nirvana couldve been one of my favourite tracks, instead it serves as a random interlude.
Fav tracks: picasso, here we go again, lucky
Least fav: wave watching interlude
Aint even gonna lie my only problem with the album is that the lyrics are so focused on sex and especially vividly describing pussy and such. Amazing production and also pretty funny at times which I hope was what keem was aiming for
